She’s got a point, the pun in the title is very good. But otherwise Lavery is saying the quiet part out loud.

i'll tell you what, Lavery looks quite different in the picture the Times chose to the ones Lavery posts of Laveryself on social media

crikey

the book sounds dire

DomesticatedZombie · 07/02/2022 18:33

@TheCurrywurstPrion

Seems Lavery is annoyed because Sarah Ditum used the word abortion.

Ironic that Lavery considers this to be insulting to the limp dick, and is at the same time revealing a man-deep ignorance of women’s bodies, including spontaneous abortion, which is another name for miscarriage.

Quite. Lavery has no idea what Lavery is fucking talking about.

Although I would bet £50 that Lavery knows exactly what effect this phrase will have on women, and am not surprised this is the phrase Lavery is singling out to repeat and share on social media.
Cailleach1 · 07/02/2022 18:55

Anthropomorphising a penis now. Men and their bits, huh? Vile to be coopting women's experiences though - and in such an ugly, insensitive way.

BraveBananaBadge · 07/02/2022 19:16

Ah surely not, Domesticated. Grace is offended and distressed anyone would do such a thing! Everyone fall back! Grace is offended and distressed!!

As pp said above, vile is the best word for this person

heathspeedwell · 07/02/2022 19:16

I now understand why Seven is so very keen to prevent women from doing more research about Lavery on other sites.

Reading Lavery's own words is concerning to say the least. Thank goodness there are sites that meticulously back up everything that certain people say on social media.

TheWeeDonkey · 07/02/2022 19:29

There was an interview with GL on Heterodorx but I had to switch off after 10 minutes. Livery comes across as not a genuine person, the kind who enjoys courting controversy and offending people for fun. (Being generous with my words here) Not the kind of person I would waste my time or energy on.

I failed Eng Lit A-level. Can someone explain the literary pun in the title?

Clymene · 07/02/2022 20:41

It's a pun on a book by Dave Eggers: A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius
JustSpeculation · 07/02/2022 20:50

@Clymene,

Thank you. I don't get what's good about it, but then that's probably why I failed Eng Lit. I suppose you actually have to read the book.

Gosports · 07/02/2022 20:57

Does anyone else have a share token? The link just takes me to the Times homepage. Thanks.

It's not that good really. I think she was trying to start with a positive

I posted an archive link earlier
DomesticatedZombie · 07/02/2022 21:04

It's an awful pun.

Gosports · 07/02/2022 21:15

@Clymene got it, thank you

Yes - it is just replace a word with penis 🤷‍♀️

I've found the fruit 🥝 farms' threads to be very informative about Yaniv, Challenor, and in passing, Chase Strangio. They do seem very keen on receipts and archiving; I reckon they're primarily accountants. Thanks for the tip, I'll have a look there for threads on Lavery tomorrow. That's assuming our little scold doesn't pay them a visit and instruct them to delete and shut up or risk being called right wing Grin

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 08/02/2022 23:45

Finally, a positive review for LP. I think I must have read six reviews of the book by now!

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 09/02/2022 00:07

Sorry, wrong thread!

IcakethereforeIam · 09/02/2022 00:50

I think I'll do what Lavery politely suggests in the title, and give it a miss.

Rightsraptor · 09/02/2022 07:05

Alekto - happily I think there's zero chance of the fruit farmers taking down anything at all, still less anything unflattering about Grace Lavery because Grace Lavery demands it. They'd just laugh in Grace's face. Or Grace's lawyer's face, which Grace should know, living in the US.

The farm posted a clip of the terrorist shooting in Christchurch, NZ, a few years ago. Jacinda Ardern wanted it removed and Joshua Moon, aka 'Null' the boss of KF, gave her a lecture about freedom of speech being enshrined in the constitution and it was a big fat 'No'.

SpiderVersed · 09/02/2022 08:55

Seven suffering from the Streisand Effect. I have now looked up a bit about Lavery and family. Wow, that’s a whole lots of stuff I can understand wanting to keep quiet!

OP posts:
MoltenLasagne · 09/02/2022 09:11

Another Streisand effect here - shocking and, to me, quite upsetting revelations in Lavery's own words.

Helleofabore · 09/02/2022 09:38

Once you see the pride in the posting of the abuse of their spouse (were they honeymoon photos or am I thinking of other photos), everything falls into place.

Those images seem somewhat contradictory to this post from GL on the definition of woman.

well, i think it’s like your definition of “firefighter”—quite circular, as it goes, because it is a messy, socialized term. a woman is a person who is, or has been, presumed to adopt a passive role in sexual intercourse and a reproductive role in economic life. it’s not perfect
