Well,I'm glad that I didn't take the morning off work to engage in that waste of time and energy.🙄
Entirely predictable,we can only be defined when told to 'be kind'.
I tell my daughters to look at the motivation of anyone demanding that they be kind. It very very rarely stands up to scrutiny.

Waitwhat23 · 01/02/2022 13:55

It's amazingly awful to hear the phrases 'raise the level of debate' and 'need to be kinder' repeated over and over again without any engagement with the elephant in the room.

I was horrified to see a comment along the lines of 'what sex based rights do you believe are being eroded'. It's outrageously disingenuous, along the lines of Nicola Sturgeon's line about women's concerns 'not being valid'.

People are now voting for Labour as there is no viable alternative or simply spoiling their vote. You'd think politicians would want to properly discuss what so many women find concerning. But no, it's just more handwaving.

After seeing what happened to Joanna Cherry, there's no way on earth I would go into politics even if there was 'childminding money' made available.

littlbrowndog · 01/02/2022 13:56

Be kind sent me into a right fucking rage

I was like 😠😠😠

Be kind.

Mollyollydolly · 01/02/2022 13:56

'Be kind' what a joke. Who do I vote for. Who?

Helmetbymidnight · 01/02/2022 13:56

Has anyone else had a comment deleted as if it was never even there?

Same. We have become truly invisible.

PronounssheRa · 01/02/2022 13:56

I had a disappeared post which was responding to the faux innocent 'what rights will women lose' nonsense

JustineMumsnet · 01/02/2022 13:57

@Redshoeblueshoe

Justine you have just posted on the wrong thread Maybe you should sit down in a dark room for a bit
Good plan
SeaRabbit · 01/02/2022 13:57

Well that went well, didn't it. As predicted. I wonder if they were surprised at the almost total lack of questions on anything but women's sex-based rights?

And CN "be kind": Jesus wept, Caroline we moved on from that a long time ago. We also remember your different attitudes to the male professors and female professors in your fact-finding sessions.

littlbrowndog · 01/02/2022 13:57

Yeah there was a big woolly mammoth right there

I hope the 2 ladies saw what was in the corner sitting

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 01/02/2022 13:58

I've cut and pasted the whole webchat into a file in case it gets deleted, and in case posts within it are deleted. I want to really study this one.

ArabellaScott · 01/02/2022 13:58

Thanks for letting us ask some of the questions that matter, Justine. Hope you can have a nice cup of tea and a sit down, now. Brew

I really don't think so - we're pretty clear on the guidelines about single issue dominating a webchat. You all know them so what do you expect us to do?

There were actually quite a lot of other questions but they were somewhat drowned out... that's the point

Mine was too.

I said "How can you protect women's sex-based rights if any man is a woman if he says he is?"

I was utterly shocked at the WESC report, by the evident lack of awareness, research, or basic grasp of any of the issues. As if none of the raging debate, discussions, information, research, anything, had been even given a cursory glance.

It was really quite staggering.

I think gin or wine might be more suitable. To be fair to justine, at least the session took place and we could ask questions even if the calibre of response was woeful

Oh, this gave me the rage. So utterly obtuse of Stella Creasey.
SeaRabbit · 01/02/2022 14:02

LittleBrownDog it was this:

committees.parliament.uk/work/658/reform-of-the-gender-recognition-act/news/137757/gender-recognition-act-reform-women-and-equalities-committee-hears-evidence-from-academics/

See if you can watch and observe the way they call the males (some who say they are women) 'Professor' but not the female professors. And the difference in the approach.

ArabellaScott · 01/02/2022 14:02

Gin - well, nobody can tell what's really in that mug, can they?

Helmetbymidnight · 01/02/2022 14:02

The web chat was on 'women in politics'. They refuse to say what a woman is - its very difficult to have a conversation on women in politics when they can't define their terms.

I would have preferred a proper deletion message. At least then I'd know that I had posted.
