Not sure how to start a new thread but thought I’d post it here for traffic and also in case someone can put it on its own thread.
British cycling are having a poll on transgender women competing in the women’s category docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSezRzWDlsNk9tURYI9nt_zkaRxDpQpU0Tsi1nG7VGKO0U2Mag/viewform?mc_cid=d4660459ef&mc_eid=c9a6e3510e

@Artichokeleaves

And I'll tell you what, the day that female only spaces- respected by all as the decent, kind, tolerant, inclusive thing to do to ensure equality of access for all - are cobwebbed and unused by choice by anyone at all,

Then you can get rid of them.

Not before.

Really good. This is how I feel but you've expressed it better than I could.

I did put this on the British Cycling thread, but slightly hidden - I linked to Sharron Davies' tweet with the link to the survey (wasn't sure if this might be seen as a petition)

'A pattern is emerging amongst Labour MPs in particular, regarding the debate on women's rights:
1 Ignore ALL the light shed on the issue by women with evidence.
2 Generate heat by bad faith responses.
3 Complain there is 'more heat than light'.
It's beginning to sound scripted.'

  • Helen Saxby

Was this the intention, all along?

They have DECIDED the policy according to the ideology.

They don't want to change the policy. So they don't want to see the evidence, so are trying to supress the evidence.

Sadly, this pattern is not restricted to this subject. Its rife in politics atm, which is ideologically led rather than lead by evidence which is gathered to solve problems.

The public want the latter, ideologically driven (and educated) politicians want the former.

And THAT is source of the biggest point of conflicts and dissatisfaction / mistrust for the public.

Helen Saxby is spot on.

Brexit is actually another good example (I actually think that 'remain' was guilty of a certain amount of this too before anyone says different, but if you are making change its particularly pertinant to offer solutions to existing problems) where there is no practical consideration of reality.

RedToothBrush · 05/02/2022 12:43

The 'wall of reality' is a really good way of phrase it.

Stopsnowing · 07/02/2022 00:32

Late to the party but caught up with the sc and cn thread and was impressed with the relentless intelligent questions.

Bosky · 08/02/2022 02:24

Just imagine if we had RedToothBrush and Kellie-Jay in Parliament instead of those two sell-outs?!

If we are on possible ulterior motives for CN and SC blundering about on Mumsnet:

Nokes - to demonstrate her woeful lack of familiarity with her brief as Chair of Women & Equalities Committee, responsible for a report on proposed GRA Reforms yet somehow completely misunderstanding the "spousal consent clause" and now imagining that "transwoman" = "males who have acquired a GRC"! WTAF!!

Creasy - to dandle her wiggly baby on her knee for the soppy mums to drool over while shamelessly promoting her vanity project "This Mum Votes" - with a URL that redirects to her own website!

"This Mum Votes" apparently a "non partisan coalition of campaigners led by Pregnant then Screwed "

Not a mention of it on the "Pregnant then Screwed" website, Stella Hmm

pregnantthenscrewed.com/?s=%22this+mum+votes%22

I am struggling to think of someone worse than Nokes that the Tories could have sent, to disabuse us of the notion that women are capable of doing a decent job in Parliament. Let alone a decent job for women.

Labour could have done worse. Presumably Lisa Nandy was too busy to come and tell us that she is more than happy for rapists to be incarcerated with women. So instead of Nasty Nandy we get Cooing "Feather My Own Nest" Creasy.

If the ulterior motive was to convince us that women would do better staying at home being nice, kind mummies instead of making fools of themselves in Parliament while selling the rest of us women down the river, they chose well.

All credit to Stella for adding insult to injury by floundering around on Twitter taking Sarah Everard's name in vain and, as a result, prompting yet more women to withdraw from politics by cancelling their Labour Party membership.

Maybe the end game is making the gains of the Suffrage movement totally worthless by ensuring there is no one representing women's interests who we can vote for?

======

Cheer me up! If Tories and Labour both apologised and asked for another shot, promising to send women who are proper politicians who know what a woman is, who should they send?

Us: "What is a woman?"

Them: "An adult human female - next question!"
