I wonder if they have both blocked me on Twitter yet ?
I bet it won't take long.

FOJN · 01/02/2022 13:24

Apparently Stella is doing work on misogynistic hate crime, god help us all, it won't be worth the paper it's written on if we can't pin down what a woman is.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 01/02/2022 13:25

Well that was an entirely predictable binfire!

RedToothBrush · 01/02/2022 13:25

These webchats always go the same way with politicians.

Its really depressing to see politicians not be able to express something with reasons behind it, and instead say they can't talk about it because of the men!!

How does that inspire and encourage me to want to go into politics too? Why are certain things off limits? For ANY reason? Abuse and harassment isn't going to stop because you effectively bow to it.

I hate these things, and as much as I think they are a good idea in principle, I think the problem is that the participants rarely engage in good faith and just see it as an opportunity to tell women what to do or what to think.

Not sure they are worth MNs time if thats the case.

How many deletions before I get banned? Anyone know?

Redshoeblueshoe · 01/02/2022 13:31

I thought it was 3 on FWR, but I've no idea about webchats. I'm sure people have been booted off after them

Theeyeballsinthesky · 01/02/2022 13:31

We thank them for the sunlight though!

I never would have predicted 5 years ago that “be kind” would be the most likely phrase to send me into a frustrated rage!

JustineMumsnet · 01/02/2022 13:39

@Redshoeblueshoe

FOJN oh dear my last comment has just disappeared from the webchat FFS, although for those of you who missed it I said exactly the same thing on this thread at 13.00 Grin
As explained a few times now we have rules about the same questions being repeatedly asked on webchats - this is so one single issue doesn't dominate and other topics get airtime.
Appledrop · 01/02/2022 13:40

Well that was my first visit to a live chat and what a disappointment. I even spat my tea out when she went there with that line, kindness. It seems to me that what Labour really wants is to have transwomen join their party, Hmm under the guise of inclusiveness, whatever the heck that means these days but more men basically!

Redshoeblueshoe · 01/02/2022 13:42

Justine I had made a comment, not repeated a question. But hey ho. Webchats are a complete waste of everyone's time if they can't define woman

Redshoeblueshoe · 01/02/2022 13:47

Justine you have just posted on the wrong thread
Maybe you should sit down in a dark room for a bit

PerditaNitt · 01/02/2022 13:47

It is difficult enough for women to hear men refer to them as shrill, shouty, bossy and bitchy for expressing their opinions. But it is frustrating to another level to hear a woman refer to women reasonably and calmly laying out their concerns as “shouting”, and saying that the level of the debate needs “to be raised”. Disheartening.

PronounssheRa · 01/02/2022 13:47

Have we entered an odd thread slip?

Goatsaregreat · 01/02/2022 13:48

I wonder whether some of the deletions on this thread are because Justine thinks this is the webchat? !!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 01/02/2022 13:48

I was totally confused there.

JellySaurus · 01/02/2022 13:49

Wish I'd screenshot my posts. One of the deleted ones simply explained that we weren't allowed to answer her question on that thread and that she should come and explore this board to discover our answers.

What was unacceptable in that? MN had just stated on the thread that we could not address that specific issue the guest was asking about!

Redshoeblueshoe · 01/02/2022 13:49

Goats I think you are right

OldCrone · 01/02/2022 13:50

@FOJN

Has anyone else had a comment deleted as if it was never even there?
Yes. Two.

I posted. It disappeared. I posted again. Disappeared again. But other posts saying more or less what I was saying are still there.

No email from MNHQ.

FOJN · 01/02/2022 13:52

But it is frustrating to another level to hear a woman refer to women reasonably and calmly laying out their concerns as “shouting”, and saying that the level of the debate needs “to be raised”.

That will be the debate some people don't want to have. Difficult to raise the level when you calmly articulate your concerns and the other side takes to social media to hide behind anonymous accounts to issue death and rape threats. To add insult to injury you're then held equally responsible for the poor level of debate.

JellySaurus · 01/02/2022 13:53

Me too, FOJN. I guess the 'disappeared' post was so utterly outrageous that it deserved to be cancelled, rather than merely censored.
