Stumbled accross this on twitter. Matt Walsh, an American political commentator is on a chat show and confronts transactivist to define a woman and tells him that he is appropriating womanhood.

Then after being told that he has 'traumatised' the activists... He provides this response!!

Wow. He says sh*t straight.... Haha!

Noooo it's not.

It's about a man you have been saying you vvv think brilliant on trans topic.

The fact he clearly doesn't give a shit about girls when it comes to abortion. Even ones being sexually abused by their dads.

Is very relevant when flagging him as a leading light in women's rights, risk to us, risk of rape. When it comes to topic of thread.

The fact that IF one Loudoun victim pregnant and needed life saving termination. He would have her die.
Is very relevant when comes to topic of thread.

NotBadConsidering · 23/01/2022 03:47

Why are you so keen on him? He's obviously incredibly divisive. Views that over here are seen as vv extreme. You've consistently sung his praises and said anyone who isn't interested in his views on trans is various things meant to cause a denial reaction. Why not someone who isn't like that. Esp for UK even if USA those views more mainstream?

This has also been explained multiple times. I am not “keen” on him. I think he is right, on this specific occasion, in this particular instance. I have not said you are having a “denial reaction”, not a single person has used those words Hmm, I have asked why you have repeatedly failed to answer the simple question of whether he is right, in this specific occasion.

It has also been explained multiple times how influential he is, how influential Dr Phil is, how many viewers his show has, and hence the importance of the issues like the Loudoun rape cases being raised in a mainstream environment. That you have no knowledge of popular culture and prominent people is entirely down to your lack of knowledge. We don’t need to post links about people who only Cheese has heard of do we?

So in summary, according to you, we should only post threads and opinions on topics that can’t be screenshot, can’t be misused otherwise we are harming trans people, and only about people you’ve heard of and of whom you morally approve?

CheeseMmmm · 23/01/2022 03:49

And that is a TRUTH that you won't even begin to listen to.

CheeseMmmm · 23/01/2022 03:49

Who is 'OUR'??

nolongersurprised · 23/01/2022 03:54

Who is 'OUR'??

The whole of the fundamentalist Christian Right-wing, Cheese. The ones who are paying me to infiltrate this thread with positive Matt Walsh posts.

ItsLateHumpty · 23/01/2022 03:55

IGNORE.
Not agree with.
IGNORE.

Are you suggesting that in order to start a thread one has to give a full bio of the person about whom they’re writing? Or at least a link to wiki about them?

And the OP and all following discussion must start with denouncing all the impure or bad or problematic views before they can comment on the actual point of the thread?

You have assumed IGNORE - I have not ignored what I find problematic with MW, I just haven’t shared them on a thread that is not asking me that.

CheeseMmmm · 23/01/2022 04:00

Not an answer.

Who is 'our'.

Fact you've tried to evade rather than saying. Oh weird no idea why I wrote that.

Means there is an our and you don't want to say. This is getting even more interesting!

NotBadConsidering · 23/01/2022 04:05

@CheeseMmmm

I think he's 'bad' Grin I'm not 10 lol. I have much better words than that!

'Screeds of text berating his beliefs on other topics aren’t going to change our mind with how he approaches this issue.'

Who do you mean by 'our'. Change OUR mind'. Who do you mean?

I imagine the “our” in this quote refers to all the people who agree with what Walsh has said in this particular instance with this issue. I won’t stop agreeing with what he said on Dr Phil simply because you think I should factor in his views on other things lest I descend into right wing fundamentalism, and I imagine those others who also agree with him feel the same way. Hence “our views”.
CheeseMmmm · 23/01/2022 04:06

'You have assumed IGNORE - I have not ignored what I find problematic with MW, I just haven’t shared them on a thread that is not asking me that.'

Indeed you are not.

You are fully aware of his views, including on abortion.

You didn't seem at all surprised by that tweet I posted.

No definitely not ignoring.

Just don't feel it's of any relevance that his post (and sure could find more in that vein) clearly demonstrates that he couldn't give a toss about girls, rape, incest, pregnancy as a result of incest.

And of course that his vv clearly stated opinion means that he would definitely see a girl pregnant through rape at school, dead. Than receive a life saving abortion.

No no I totally understand.

And I'm not concerned about your posts or this fella having such an impact as to change laws here. I know you think he's great. But he's really pretty crap. No I think we'll be fine.

Post what you want.

I've found your posts enlightening tbh.

CheeseMmmm · 23/01/2022 04:08

Problematic Grin

Forgetting to take the bins out can be problematic.

Girls pregnant through rape being forced to carry to term give birth impact whole life.

Girls women dying because life saving treatment refused.

Problematic. I think something a little stronger in order, tbh.

nolongersurprised · 23/01/2022 04:11

Means there is an our and you don't want to say. This is getting even more interesting!

The collective posters on this thread, Cheese. Have a read back, nearly everyone agrees he was effective. Not all, obviously Grin especially the ones (you) who refuses to watch the clips about Loudoun County but comments extensively anyway

CheeseMmmm · 23/01/2022 04:12

'However, others are able to do that. Screeds of text berating his beliefs on other topics aren’t going to change our mind with how he approaches this issue.'

'I imagine the “our” in this quote refers to all the people who agree with what Walsh has said in this particular instance with this issue.'

Why are you imagining what it meant?

You wrote it!

CheeseMmmm · 23/01/2022 04:13

Oh sorry my mistake.

Similar posting styles.

Why guess what another poster meant?

Good answer though :)

nolongersurprised · 23/01/2022 04:13

You wrote it!

No Cheese, that was my post.

NotBadConsidering · 23/01/2022 04:14

I've found your posts enlightening tbh

Same. It’s clear you’re struggling here with thought processes. Even in your last post you’re determined to make it out like anyone agreeing with Walsh thinks he’s “great” on all things and wants all of his ideas to be advanced. You’ve veered from confusing counter arguments to disingenuous posts and now you’re deliberately twisting what people say and mean.

Very enlightening.

CheeseMmmm · 23/01/2022 04:17

I'm interested in the ability to compartmentalise here.

When it comes to girls who are raped.

Do you sort of have

One box.
Girl subjected to sexual violence In school. Not pregnant. Rapist could/might/ has trans ID. (Last one due to lack of answer about rape in schools generally.)
Totally to do with trans topic.

Another box.
Girl sexually abused by father. Pregnant.
Girl raped in school. Pregnant.
Girl needs life saving termination.
Not anything to do with trans topic.

Is that the idea?

ItsLateHumpty · 23/01/2022 04:23

You didn't seem at all surprised by that tweet I posted.

I wasn’t.

I know you think he's great.

Do I?

That is your assumption. It is your blind spot. And you’ve just told me what my beliefs are.
You’re sounding the same to me as the TRAs who trawl MN to put words in other peoples mouths to prove MN posters are right wing fundamentalists.

Nice.

NotBadConsidering · 23/01/2022 04:25

No, I don’t need to compartmentalise because I do indeed see the cross over between those two scenarios. And indeed it would be an interesting question to put to Walsh, how he squares that circle. You should ask HIM how he compartmentalises those thoughts. What boxes does HE have. That’s nothing to do with my thought process.

Because that is not the same as me agreeing with what he said on Dr Phil.

I don’t need to square Walsh’s circle for him, or to appease you. He said something I agree with. I don’t need to explain Walsh’s internal logic to justify my agreement.

nolongersurprised · 23/01/2022 04:27

I'm interested in the ability to compartmentalise here

It’s quite easy, and similar to my approach to people in real life. There is no one I share 100% beliefs with.

I agree with Matt Walsh Labour the harms of trans ideology.

I disagree with Matt Walsh about abortion.

nolongersurprised · 23/01/2022 04:28

*about, not Labour. Labour are TRAs

NotBadConsidering · 23/01/2022 04:32

Having said that, I imagine asking Walsh “had the girl raped in the Loudoun school bathroom got pregnant as a result, do you think she should have been allowed to get an abortion?” would get a more articulate response than asking Cheese “do you agree with what Walsh said on Dr Phil?”

Out of interest.

You obviously feel very strongly about a UK woman who you don't know at all,

Who having made the effort to find info about the Man the thread is about.

The man who is from a totally different country. Clearly contraversial in country from. General views are based in USA political environment and discourse. Plus loads of other USA specific cultural historical background. His views beyond extreme to vast majority people here.

A man I've never heard of before on a chat show (!) I've never heard of before.

You seem really taken aback that on having a look. A woman on MN feminism would (also watched the video the thread is about and no I'm not watching more I know more about this man than I ever needed to. And I didn't need to know anything because totally irrelevant in every way to average UK person).

That you're so appalled and taken aback and frankly insulting. By said woman thinking essentially.

No mark random. Zero relevance here. Also, clear utter total unapologetic ville piece of work.

And. Plenty people who aren't utter scumbags who are in UK, relevant, understand our culture etc.

No thanks not for me.

That really makes you feel, unhappy? Angry?

On child rape. Dead girl Vs alive girl. He says dead girl please if saving means termination.

You really can't understand why, given the points above about USA nothing to do with me.

You can't begin to understand why a woman might think that. Other than her being a brainless, thoughtless, hopeless zombie of a person? Or whatever you said. It wasn't exactly complimentary and there was a lot of it!

Why do you give a toss? Why is it such a massive deal to you that I think the dead/alive girl matters in this conversation which you have brought rape into multiple times?

I'm no threat to you. You really can't see why it could actually be perfectly understandable for me to think that, even though you strongly disagree?

I've not tried to change your mind. I've been trying to understand your reasons for Insisting that anyone who doesn't watch this and that and SAY HE'S RIGHT is a total git.

CheeseMmmm · 23/01/2022 04:53

His response to that question about his hypothetical victim on incest was clear enough.
CheeseMmmm · 23/01/2022 04:56

Thinking a bit more.

Given that he's stated that the only way to prove rape is to get pregnant by rapist and have the baby.

And plus his big interest in false rape accusations.

He certainly didn't stick to his beliefs with the Loudoun situation did he.

Seems he's somewhat flexible then, when it's going to help something else he believes which he's really into at that point.
