www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10382291/Did-Hertfordshire-Police-force-break-uniform-code-transgender-trailblazer.html

One rule for women and another for transgender women.

Having long green nails and heavy makeup, breaches Hertfordshire Police Forces uniform policy, unless of course you're trans! Then you can do what you like to "feel like a woman".

@NoNotMeNoSiree

Because 1) you'll get people denying there's any make up on in the first place and you're mistaken or something 2) because it's a shitty thing to do to link to someone's picture and start discussing how they look.
Is it the second one I posted? You don't need to make any further comment on the woman's make up, just confirm it was this picture or a different one.

And yet… YOU are the one making a judgement on that woman.

Not one other person on this thread.

Sophoclesthefox · 09/01/2022 20:01

Exactly, helle.

Like I said, it’s quite the pickle. Horrible to come off as being racially insensitive and judgemental about people wearing make up, while engaging in a lovely bout of scolding posters about being judgemental about people wearing make up…Grin

Awks.

Helleofabore · 09/01/2022 20:02

The first one I saw was someone looking like they're heavily tanned and like the fake tan bottle a lot or foundation.

The first one on the thread has been posted.

It is clear, despite your twisting, that you either lied to create an emphasis about how easy it was to find an example, or, you have judged a woman and been shown to be a hypocrite.

Which is it? Or is it something else that you might acknowledge?

Helleofabore · 09/01/2022 20:03

Very awks, sophocles.

This is one of the most bizarre threads I have ever seen on this site.

The Police force are quoted as saying-

'Code And Standards Policy states: 'Individuals should keep make-up discreet or in connection with your religion/faith. Individuals in operational roles must ensure nails are kept short and any nail varnish must be neutral in colour.'

This applies to everyone. In this particular case, it is not being applied to everyone so those who are being expected to follow the standards are complaining that it is unfair that exemptions have been made, which it is.

It really doesn't matter if certain posters on here believe that police officers should be allowed to wear heavy make up or colourful nails. They are not allowed to under this policy. No-one is allowed to under this policy.

Helleofabore · 09/01/2022 20:07

@NoNotMeNoSiree

The only thing different about her is that she's trans Exactly. There was quite a lot of different police officers in the original series of tweets, which seemed to be about just showing them as normal (for want of a better word) human beings behind the uniform and not just a police officer. All wearing differing amounts of make up. Yet I didn't see anyone complaining that any of the non trans people were wearing too much mascara, the lipstick is too bright or whatever. Strange, that.
I also point out this post.

You, and blueberry egged you on, were so confident… then … nothing. From either of you.

Mind you, with the number of deletions of some posters, they might not come back for reasons to do with the number of deletions they get.

So, it fell to you. Maybe you expected support from those other posters?

VestofAbsurdity · 09/01/2022 20:09

@NoNotMeNoSiree you were the one who claimed that other police women officers were wearing heavy make-up, you claimed to have seen the evidence in the first post on the Herts Police Twitter feed, yet you refuse to prove this statement.

If, as you are determined to put forward, the TW is doing nothing different to other women police officers regarding make up and nails and you claimed to have actually seen this then the onus is on you to prove us all wrong that the rules have been set aside for this TW officer as that is the claim you are making.

You know what you have done wrong, we know what you have done wrong, anyone reading this thread knows what you have done wrong, you just haven't the guts to admit it.

TurquoiseBaubles · 09/01/2022 20:09

I can only presume that this thread is being reported repeatedly for a "pile-on" in the hopes of getting it deleted.

I don't expect it will be here in the morning.

Helleofabore · 09/01/2022 20:12

Because
1) you'll get people denying there's any make up on in the first place and you're mistaken or something

No one has denied that their are women wearing make up.

2) because it's a shitty thing to do to link to someone's picture and start discussing how they look.

It is a shitty thing to do to judge someone’s skin colour. When it will have nothing to do with the make up neutrality policy.

NoNotMeNoSiree · 09/01/2022 20:13

you claimed to have seen the evidence in the first post on the Herts Police Twitter feed
No, I didn't.
Again, I said the first post I saw.
Not the first post on the feed!

ArabellaScott · 09/01/2022 20:14

So.
Which.
Post.
Is.
It.

VestofAbsurdity · 09/01/2022 20:15

So which was the first post you saw?

You can clear this up in a heartbeat seems strange you don't want to bearing in mind the impression you are fostering with your refusal.

Waitwhat23 · 09/01/2022 20:17

@Helleofabore

This is what happens when posters hold such a prejudiced view of the regular poster’s on this board.

They simply cannot acknowledge when an OP has a point.

They simply must argue around and around that posters are hateful, because that may be the prejudice the poster’s have. And then use racist statements and bizarre takes to attempt to discredit posters.

I have to agree with this post. At some point, surely, there must be some sort of realisation that arguing that something is hateful, despite evidence, is just taking a pointlessly contrary view because of your own biases?

The particular situation outlined in the OP is unfair to those who are expected to follow the policy. Those affected by this situation have complained because it is unfair. You really can't get away from that.

Helleofabore · 09/01/2022 20:18

No, I didn't.
Again, I said the first post I saw.
Not the first post on the feed!

How do you enter a twitter timeline without seeing the first posts on the timeline?

Deliberate scrolling to find a ‘gotcha’? That then backfired?

IamAporcupine · 09/01/2022 20:20

@NoNotMeNoSiree

You have to be kidding me.

If you really believed the OP was wrong and prejudiced against TW (eg policing what TW can/cannot wear), you will come up with evidence of a series of female officers wearing bright makeup, hence proving your point. Simple.

VestofAbsurdity · 09/01/2022 20:21

@TurquoiseBaubles

Well the poster in question themselves tends to pick on one thing someone has said and bangs on and on and on about it to the exclusion of all else so surely the rule of if you give it out you take it should apply here.
TInkyWlnky · 09/01/2022 20:26

@NoNotMeNoSiree

you claimed to have seen the evidence in the first post on the Herts Police Twitter feed No, I didn't. Again, I said the first post I saw. Not the first post on the feed!
Are we to assume that this is a racist incident on your part then, if you're not sharing your findings which should be easily found on a public twitter account?
Sophoclesthefox · 09/01/2022 20:29

Well the poster in question themselves tends to pick on one thing someone has said and bangs on and on and on about it to the exclusion of all else so surely the rule of if you give it out you take it should apply here

Exactly. People who have been subjected to this treatment from this user before can hardly be blamed for dishing it back out.

VioletLemon · 09/01/2022 20:31

JFC I'm so tired of this.
We need new language around "gender" and a new set of standards which include separate toilets, changing rooms etc for trans people.
Women and girls need to decide what is appropriate for their spaces that safeguard.
Trans people can be respected, celebrated and participate aswell as having their own trans spaces.
It needs to be legislated, women need this legislation because we have been oppressed and discriminated against based on our sex.
Beliefs and feelings are not fucking biological sex.

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 09/01/2022 20:32

@NoNotMeNoSiree, you say you're a woman (the 'classic' kind)

so I guess you will have, at a number of times during your life, raised your eyes to the heavens and thought 'it's one fucking rule for men and another one for women'

the article in the OP was reporting on one of those times

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 09/01/2022 20:32

@NoNotMeNoSiree

Ah, Ok. Well just a quick look at Hert police twitter account you don't have to scroll far at all see pics of other women officers being shown. The first one I saw was someone looking like they're heavily tanned and like the fake tan bottle a lot or foundation. Is anyone commenting on her appearance (apart from me now obviously which feels a Hmm thing to do. Why aren't they? Can anyone think why that may be? Or is it just saved for what make up a trans woman is wearing?
You were very clear.

You said you didn't need to scroll far at all to see pics of other women being shown.

Well, that would be true. It's the top tweet, just beneath the pinned tweet.

So the first one [you] saw was?

Are you accessing Twitter from an alternate timeline in which that isn't the most recent tweet of a female police officer?

Or in a Tardis?
