A quick question about toilets?

So much of the trans debate seems to come back to toilets and people using toilets and changing rooms of their birth gender, how would this work for people who have undergone full gender reassignment surgery? Would you want a ftm trans person to use female changing rooms with their surgically added penis and mtf trans people to use mens changing rooms while outwardly looking female? I am aware I am over simplifying matters but it’s so often what it comes back too.

You want toilet guards stationed at the entrance to women's toilets to have a look at everyone before they enter and ask questions if they don't look like a woman?

If that happens then shit's really going to hit the fan when a larger than average masucline-looking woman with short hair comes along and is suspected of being a man.

You know of course, another way to look at that is the way the gracious Lauren Black dealt with it. To turn around and thank the questioner for trying to ensure women are kept safe.

So tell us pie, if the only thing women have left to try to keep themselves and each other safe is to ask question, why would you be involved in trying to take even that away from women?

And why would you perpetuate ensuring those women asked should feel like victims?

Indeed. Men using women's toilets is without a doubt going to increase the queues. Aside from the fact they are not wanted or welcome. But let's not allow the issue of consent get in the way of male jollys eh.

Just to clarify I don't agree that we should have sex-checking-guards to look at everyone entering a toilet. As well as causing delays it does sound a big weird.

I've watched that video 5 times now and I don't see Posie suggesting armed toilet guards.

It was a call for males to play the game to identify as women to show how easy it is for males to access women’s toilets. And how powerless women were against those males.

You see, 15yeats ago, or 12,or 10 or maybe even only 5 years ago, it's not something many people would have minded or bothered about.

Yes, I think trans people have quietly and without comment been using their preferred loos for decades; I have never noticed any, or been disturbed by any.... Until recently.

A lot has changed. That's not what is being asked any more. So a big, big conversion has to happen now about what is best for everyone, making sure women and girls have everything they need before anything else.

The whole debate became aggressive and demanding and unfair. That was not the fault of women....

I have noticed a few over the years, and I have minded. I have heard the “we’ve been using your spaces for years an nobody noticed as we completely pass as female” line trotted out fairly often, but i really don’t believe it. A male not being challenged is not the same as a male not being registered.

I'm always bemused by the argument that we said nothing because we hadn't noticed or didn't mind. I don't know how anyone who understands women's lives can believe that.

Ask her. Ask her yourself. She may even answer you. But she is easy to find.

For whatever reason, trans women who have had gender reassignment surgery (from what I’ve seen/ heard/ read) tend to understand that a person can never truly change their biological sex and feel that recent TRA voices have absolutely fucked their position. It used to be a tacit understanding between women and transsexuals (as then known) then the TRAs made it aggressive - they started demanding the transgression of women’s safe space and boundaries and suddenly, that voice started to sound very male indeed. It was ironically the very angry assertion that trans women are women that made so many people realise they are definitely not.

To be fair, I can understand trying to focus the discussion on a divisive figure like Posie, and on what she might or might not have said. I guess I might do the same if I was trying to ignore the basic point that decent men stay out of women's spaces without being coerced.
