Eddie Izzard….has he reverted back to male ID

Just watching Stay Close, 1st episode, and it has Eddie Izzard being a man. This seems at odds with his spouting of ‘I’ve always known I am a woman’ bullshit.

This got me thinking that I’ve not heard much about his womanly feelings or Sam ‘pratface’ Smith either. Have they backtracked a bit?

OP posts:

Well I obviously need an eyetest because I thought that was Sean Bean Blush

Wrong thread, but yeah you really confused me too with the Sean Bean picture :p

Because it impacts on other people. If EI decides to ‘be in girl mode’ and frightens girls in a bathroom for women and girls then it’s not making them very happy is it? Why does his happiness trump theirs?

That's 'when's not 'if'. Eddie wrote about it in his autobiography didn't he? Teenaged girls finding him in the toilet and pointing out that it was the Ladies and how he reacted. I can't remember - didn't he shout at them or something?

Take the 'famous comedian' out of that and it's just a middle aged man shouting at teenage girls in a women's toilet. I wonder he can find work as an extra tbh...

GroggyLegs · 04/01/2022 12:31

Yes @RepentMotherfucker - I read EI's account of the toilet incident & while I think I was meant to find it hilarious with a side of 'poor Eddie' my interpretation was a full grown male, running between cubicles & acting really strangely in a women's toilet in front of some young girls.

And in EI's opinion, they were the ones in the wrong.

Properly odd that he'd offer it up to the world as a positive thing. Men have no clue how women live their lives.

PhoenixIsFlying · 04/01/2022 12:41

So EI is trans. Why is then he acting as a man a problem? I know men who enjoy dressing as women, but not all the time. They go to work as a man but sometimes dress as a woman. They are not causing any harm so what is the problem with EI acting as a man?

RepentMotherfucker · 04/01/2022 12:51

You have read the thread and you think the issue is with him acting as a man? Confused

HaroldMeeker · 04/01/2022 13:30

EI has not reverted back to male, EI is and will remain male for their entire livespan. Doesn't matter what they wear, say or do, that physique is male. They're just jumping ship depending on where the money is and I'm sick and tired of gits like this taking advantage. Here it is, in plain sight. Self ID allows people to take advantage of loopholes and barge into spaces not meant for them. EI is a male, yet has gleefully recited the impact their presence in a female toilet had on young females. Was EI sympathetic to the potential issues? Was EI sensitive to the needs of the females? Was EI remotely concerned that the youngsters in question may well be frightened by EI's presence? Nope. EI got a boner.
Stuff your "no harm" crap.

No problem at all as long as they don't try to force themselves into female only spaces the following day
Scraggythang · 04/01/2022 13:36

Quite, @GroggyLegs ‘girl mode’ when it’s not something you can switch on and off isn’t the experience these men who fetishise us think it is.

I wonder if Eddie will do some self reflection one day to see his misogyny and acknowledge his abuse of male privilege?

PhoenixIsFlying · 04/01/2022 13:49

Mmmn I was referring to the original post. I also know for a fact never to read and believe anything that comes from tabloids. So EI is a man who enjoys dressing as a woman? If that is correct why is he not able to act as a man? He is in the entertainment industry, acting is his way of earning a living, therefore why is it a problem for him to do so?

I don't think the OP says there is a problem with him 'acting as a man' does she?

You've missed the point that EI is now identifying as a woman and using female pronouns. Yet still performing as a male in all acting roles.

OldCrone · 04/01/2022 14:11

Exactly. "Girl mode" for the toilets. "Boy mode" for the acting roles.

He used to be a man who liked wearing dresses. Now he thinks wearing a dress makes him a woman (unless an opportunity presents itself where it would be more lucrative to be a man).

Pumpkinstace · 04/01/2022 14:15

If he played a transwoman he would be accused of being typecast (or similar)

If he played a woman people would complain that he isn't a woman.

Eddie can't win because people are judgemental arseholes most of the time

he could win by using the male toilets/changing rooms.........

Sure. If Eddie Izzard played a TW we would all 'accuse' him of being typecast. Because that is absolutely a thing that happens and not a thing people complain about when it happens to them Hmm

And the problem with Eddie shouting at a group of teenage girls (I think he said they were around 15 years old) in a Women's toilet is that people are judgemental arseholes? Eddie certainly thought so. Is that your view?

Eddie Redmayne was very heavily criticised for daring to play a transwoman in The Danish Girl.

Why is it OK for Eddie as a transwoman to play male roles but not OK for a man to play a transwoman??

Either anyone can play anything or everyone must stay in their lane.

IntermittentParps · 04/01/2022 14:47

@dworky

He's very impressive. He not only manages to be in 'boy mode' for lucrative acting roles but knows in advance of the date when the film actually shoots. He's able to see into the future!
Yep. Eddie Izzard is female when it suits her and male when he's working in a business that pays women less than men. I've no time for him any more, not since he did an interview in the Guardian essentially laughing/jeering at people who were surprised when he came out as gender-fluid because apparently it was 'always blindingly obvious' because he'd been wearing dresses and make-up for years. As my DP pointed out, it's interesting that he actually used to use the word 'transvestite' and only started on the trans/gender-fluid thing once it seemed that the trans movement was well known and somewhat supported in mainstream society. Rather than sticking his neck out early and possibly being a valuable high-profile spokesperson for trans people.
xfgdhfgnhkk007 · 04/01/2022 15:24

I remember him always using the word transvestite too, I wonder why it's fallen out of favour these days? Did they drop it because 'trans' covers everything without having to be specific?

LightningJenny · 04/01/2022 15:28

@Littlewhiteballs

Can I identify as a man for career purposes? 🤔
Honestly, if I was brave enough...

I think it has connotations of the 'panto dame' iteration of the concept – Edna Everage, Les Dawson's 'women', Barbara in League of Gentlemen etc – and perhaps isn't seen as serious or heavyweight enough?
IntermittentParps · 04/01/2022 16:19

…serious or heavyweight enough for the discussion about it now, I meant to say.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 04/01/2022 16:35

How lovely to pick and choose which bits of womanhood you can be bothered with.

Absolutely. I used to like Izzard's gender-bending clothes, but he disgusted me by boasting about scaring off three 13-year-old girls who had the courage to challenge him after he used a women's toilet. I was astonished by how perfectly justified he felt in invading their space, and how heroic he felt after chasing them away.

So I have now read that when EI was 23 he had his first outing out as a woman. He went in a public loo to quickly change and 3 girls followed him out of the loo taunting him about why he was dressed as a woman. ?
