A magnificent mitre of manhoods.

Rhannion · 12/12/2021 23:38

@MargaritaPie

"Well we’re not allowed to say ‘man’ when they identify as a woman, are we"

Is it really too much for JK Rowling and others to use the term transwomen? Even if she has differing views, just out of respect and to be polite?

Would you prefer Trans identifying Men because that’s more appropriate isn’t it?
Rhannion · 12/12/2021 23:40

And yes JKR is fantastic!!!

Fluffymule · 12/12/2021 23:41

How much do you hate women to suggest they should respect and be polite to rapists?

How dare anybody say such bullshit.

FlibbertyGiblets · 12/12/2021 23:41

Diadem of ducks.

I see the typical rape apologists have turned up, along with the ones who never heard of 1984.

Always interesting to see people debate why they should be recognised as a rapist no matter what.

But the "oh dear, what can we do if the rapist wants the self ID as something we must agree" lot do they ever connect the dots to what the concept of rapist means?

SpinnersWindow · 13/12/2021 02:06

I'm grateful to her, to JK Rowling.

Barbarantia · 13/12/2021 02:40

I've just realised that there are people who are offended by mental images.
The annoyance seems to be that the mental image associated with rapists is male instead of gender neutral or even female.
Anyone who has the male mental image is a middle aged bigot apparently.
They are so riled up about the statistics which they are confusing with a stereotype that they've forgotten they are sticking up for rapists.
The world will not be put to right until we have a balanced count of male and female rapists? So we need even more rapists just female ones to even the score?
Yeah maybe working on male violence would achieve more instead of playing around with words to feel better about the balance in the sexual assault world.

This is disgraceful.

How can you have so little respect for trans women?

How can you so casually claim they are all rapists???

Er, what? Have you read the tweet?

Nah, Please is right.

It is tremendously transphobic of Pie to see a tweet like this and bring transwomen into it! Does Pie assume all rapists are transwomen?

The Penised Individual Who Raped You Is a Woman.

ClaudiaJ1 · 13/12/2021 04:46

I am so grateful that we have her to speak out for women and common sense. Sometimes I feel so sad and dismayed and truly worried about whats happening, I've actually cried a few times, I just feel really scared for us as women and our safety. But I am so so so grateful to JKR. Just so very grateful for. She makes me feel a bit better.

JakeyRolling · 13/12/2021 07:08

If you were to put in, as @MargaritaPie*
suggests: The Transwoman Who Raped You Is A Woman, the satire is even more pointed. *
If she were to write this as Mp suggests then it plays into the hands of idiots who think "woman can rape too"

It also suggests TW are all rapists and I thought suggesting things like that was transphobic AF?

DickKerrLadiesaurus · 13/12/2021 07:19

If 'people with a cervix' and 'birthing bodies' are AOK then surely 'penised individual' is totes inclusive, Marg.

I must admit it's hard to keep up though, so no hard feelings.

  1. So are you saying that a subset of transwomen pose a threat to women? Since a subset of transwomen retain their penises and thus pose the same risk to women as men, do you agree that the safeguards we put in place to protect women (single-sex spaces etc) should therefore apply to transwomen as well as men?
  1. Usually TRAs claim that people with penises who rape and assault women are never true transwomen. For instance, Karen White is usually disowned by the trans community. In view of this, do you not think that JKR would have attracted criticism for using the term 'transwoman' in this context?
  1. What is wrong with 'penised people'? Is it not inclusive of everyone with a penis? After all, we women are being required to accept the terms 'menstruator', 'cervix-haver' etc. Why are you objecting to this terminology?
  1. Are you starting to get a headache from the inconsistencies in your position yet?

If you liked JK's tweet, you could buy some stickers to decorate your personal belongings, which carry a very similar message.

She quoted Orwell's 1984. The entire point of her tweet was that we are being controlled by compelled speech which obliterates the truth and disempowers us in the process.

Reading through this thread there seem to be a few posters unaware of the origins of
War is Peace.
Freedom is Slavery.
Ignorance is Strength

1984 is about state abuse of power, propaganda and censorship which leads to the harrowing torture and crushing of the public at large who, because language has been rendered twisted are no longer able to express or highlight what is happening to them.

Being told she should just be polite is just another example of the same thing where we can't just speak the truth through fear of being cancelled or condemned.

All you do with ignorant comments like that is illustrate and prove her point.

Runningupthecurtains · 13/12/2021 08:28

@SusannaQueen

Thank you JK. This is the thing that worries me most, the fact that women are being blamed for men's crimes. I know there are far worse issues, but this is the one that really makes me sick.
I worry about the legal 'safety' of convictions that are based on perjury. How long until someone is convicted on evidence that refers to 'her' and 'she' then appeal because they are actually male? You must tell the truth in court in all circumstances except when it comes to the sex of your rapist.
