UPDATE: the police just rocked up at my door. They looked scared, weirdly. Slightly breathless scared.

The officer apologised to me, then read me my rights.

Then he told me that he was going to report "this matter" to the Prosecution service.

I've shared videos by actors who have worked with Will Smith - doesn't mean I approve of punching people or endorse Scientology.

Is that really the best he could do? Because I'm cringing here. Tbf at least I can't imagine him working with someone like Will Smith...

Oh nooo does he think he can invoke the defence of honest opinion by saying “it’s an honest opinion “? Well, that’s embarrassing . He can’t do that. Honest opinion is one of the trickiest defences to deploy in libel.

Well in that case, maybe her solicitor will send him a letter.

She's a children's author and runs a children's charity. Her reputation in connection with children is very important. I wouldn't blame her at all for shutting down people who want to smear her.

As I've said before, if JKR publicly goes after one of these nobodies on twitter one result might be thousands of copycats repeating the libels. She wouldn't be able to go after them all and that would mean more libels being left up and JKR having "lost".

However, one difference here might be the suggestion of her causing harm to children, so maybe she might decide that's over the line enough to force her hand.

Overall though, never wrestle with pigs.

I know this thread has moved on somewhat, but is there traction in flooding the police with complaints about cases like these? Clearly the police bow to public pressure, and at the moment they're bowing to pressure from stonewall et al? But Ceri raises some very serious concerns, where her rape and death threats are not taken seriously. But her comments are. Is this institutionalised sexism? Surely if the police faces heavy pressure from the handling of such cases they might be more even handed in how they go about doing this? I would happily complain, but not sure what to say. Not even sure it's a good idea... but just feeling very helpless!
