[quote FindTheTruth]If this makes you angry, then ....

Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) must improve its transgender guidance
Male crimes are being reported as if they are female crimes

Copy of the correspondence exchanged between IPSO and Fair Play For Women

Written submission to IMPRESS (press regulator for the public) from Fair Play For Women

The Editors' Code of Practice committee is the foundation stone of the UK press self-regulatory system
Fair Play For Women provided evidence about inaccurate press reporting of sex and the failure of IPSO to uphold breaches of Clause 1 (Accuracy) in the Code

Really good advice. I hope loads of people writer to IPSO, complain anyway even if the compliant will fail (the fact it is a compliable subject will surely then register) www.ipso.co.uk/complain/ and perhaps copy in your MP too.

@MenopauseSucks

Yes it's ridiculous however...

I thought it was not-so-subtle hint from the paper's editorial team that the offender was a man but they were limited about how they could report the situation because the man identified as a woman.

The journalists all knew it was a bloody man flashing, etc but someone in the higher ranks believes TWAW or was scared the paper being seen as transphobic so they called the offender a woman but made it perfectly clear that the body & behaviour was that of a man.

Apologies for being inarticulate but I hope you can see what I'm getting at.

Yes.

They just follow the IPSO code.

dDouble3xposure I don’t think, in this case, that it’s a matter of being personally selfish whilst disregarding other’s boundaries. This is a person who opened their home to a refugee to live with them. It feels more that some of the problematic and unsafe outcomes of accepting that all TWAW without question and that womanhood can be a feeling / identified into are not being sufficiently well or widely enough discussed.

Perhaps this is why any debate is so quickly moved to be shut down. Somehow more voices need to be heard, but I fear it’s almost too late in how any opposition to TWAW is automatically deemed bigoted in many places. Including, as we’ve seen, in universities. The very place that is meant to encourage critical thinking and debate based on sound empirical evidence.

BettyFilous · 26/11/2021 11:39

@Livelovebehappy

It’s totally shit that they’re headlining it as a crime by a woman. He’s not a woman. He’s a man, so it should be reported as such.
It reads to me exactly like the paper knows the score, its hands are tied by the IPSO guidelines so it has reported the crime as clearly and unambiguously as possible whilst staying within the (indefensible) IPSO guidelines. Well done, I say.
Pascal80 · 26/11/2021 11:40

If you have a cock and balls you are not ''a woman'' and can never be one.

I’d say that was good enough reason to support NME’s instead. Plus the music is always much much better.

EHRC we’re clear women have a right to discuss this without attack.

Maya’s case made it clear.

We are a democracy, not a police state. We have free speech laws and freedom from compelled speech.

Don’t accept being silenced. It needs challenged for the misogyny it is. Anyone silencing safeguarding concerns is a safeguarding risk.

@JohnStonesMissus

Apparently we've been told there is no such thing as a woman, lets see, so far we've got: Chest feeders Menstruaters Pregnant People Man dressed as a woman commits a crime and guess what? Surprise surprise, he's called a woman I'm so enraged with all this fucking shit...
I hear ya sister!
peachescariad · 26/11/2021 11:48

He's not a woman

JustJustWhy · 26/11/2021 11:54

Oh Christ, I've got that coat!

ClawedButler · 26/11/2021 11:58

@JustJustWhy

Oh Christ, I've got that coat!
It is a woman's coat, then, clearly. Worn by women like this womanly woman with her waving winky in the window.

She's just so.....feminine. We're probably all just jealous because she's better at being a woman than we are.

justaftb · 26/11/2021 11:58

@HarrietsChariot

Crimes should be reported by sex, i think (now…didn’t before) that everything should be reported by sex.

I don't think that's necessary. Is the victim of a woman who exposes her penis to them any more or less startled or upset than if a man exposed his penis to them? Is a woman who is raped by a woman with a penis less of a victim - or a different kind of victim - than a woman raped by a man?

I think the #notourcrimes hashtag is utter nonsense. What does it actually mean? Women trying to distance themselves from other women who happen to use their penises to commit crimes, because they themselves don't commit them? Well a high proportion of men have never raped anyone either so #notourcrimes applies to most men too.

A woman does not have a penis. A man can identify as a transwoman, that does not make him a woman.

There can never be a 'victim of a woman who exposes her penis' because that is impossible. There can however be 'a victim of a transwoman - a man who identifies as a woman - who exposes his penis'.

A woman cannot be the victim of rape by 'a woman with a penis' because a women do not have penises. A woman can be victim of rape by a man who identifies as a woman (a 'transwoman').

DrBlackbird · 26/11/2021 12:06

Redcarpet I’m beginning to try to have those conversations. It’s not quite accepting being silenced. It was the uncomfortable recognition that the response to any points being raised was a reflexive and automatic dismissal. I’m sure that Orwell could explain it better than I….

Songoftheseas · 26/11/2021 12:09

She?! Her penis?!!!! The world has gone completely bonkers.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 26/11/2021 12:12

Oh Christ, I've got that coat!

Will you ever wear it again? Shock

WinterIcelandicPony · 26/11/2021 12:12

@YetAnotherSpartacus

It makes me think the inclusion of "penis" in the headline is a protest of sort - they can't call a spade a spade so they'll describe it in proper terms so people KNOW it's a spade

Yes.

wondered the same. If so, then good on them.
Cascascascas · 26/11/2021 12:22

@SocialConnection

A true trans person would not do this
It's these rare examples that hit the gossip crazy press and do so much harm to the transgendered.

No typical on trans and is sad.

Cascascascas · 26/11/2021 12:23

@SocialConnection

Meant of trans

How is this person any less true trans than any other TW?

There is no differentiation. Any male who identifies as such is a TW regardless of their behaviour. It's not as if there's a badge or certificate you're going to take away from one you don't agree with the behaviour of is it? That seems rather discriminatory to me.

This is why the only realistic approach is to be very clear: male people may identify as TW and that is fine. TWATW. Women are a different group.

If people say they are who say they are, then how do we know who is a genuine TW? Further, what is a genuine trans? Who decides?

So you don't agree with self identification of gender?
Join the rest of us on the 'transphobes' naughty seat.

Doubletoilandtrouble · 26/11/2021 12:30

Not true trans Casca? am thinking about reporting this. You are being horribly mean not to respect this woman’s lived experience and her identity.

BeKind. Do better!

Barbarantia · 26/11/2021 12:30

you heard it here first ladies! Apparently you did not know this before!
You married your husbands, had fathers, sons, brothers, uncles and colleagues and never knew! You trusted them with your lives but revelation:

A high proportion of men have never raped!
Open the floodgates, remove all barriers! Let all the strangers in!

Flashing/Rape/sexual assault (pick any) is no longer a crime committed mostly by men because most men do not commit this crime.

It is now a crime people commit because most of the people who commit it are people.

There's something about the word "Most" that makes peoples brains melt.

#notourcrimes means that most of the people who commit these crimes are male and should be counted as such if they are, not that most males commit these crimes or that no females commit them.
It means "learn to count". hard eye roll.

Well that’s highly transphobic of you. According to stonewall’s umbrella this person is true trans.

It’s also not a rare example. All the research indicates that transwomen commit violent and sexual offences at the same rate all other males do.

So it's TW are ACTUAL women. Not trans.

Then when they offend not even a bit trans.

Make up your damn minds.
