I agree Red. Gatekeeping trans status based on how well you pass is super transphobic. I think any transphobia needs to be reported.

And I don’t think that this changes when a transwoman commit a sex crime. There is still a lot of arguments for them being in female prisons. And many of them are.

You aren't passing as a woman very well when you commit male crimes with a penis.

And many more want to be in female prisons. The list of male criminals who id as female to try and argue their way into female estate, who would have to be allowed in if self id came in is terrifying. All very violent sex offenders and murderers and the like.

And that number would of course jump massively again if sel id was in.

Ok, I am confused, genuinely. So a woman cannot menstruate (apparently) but she can expose her penis (the sex toy / exposure is just an additional add on to my confusion/despair).

Women are still fighting mansplaining, sexism, misogyny, lack of equal pay and career opportunities, health care and not to mention the tedious passive aggressive comments from random little men, I could go on, and now women don't even menstruate but we do have a penis.

I am all for everyone being treated with respect and dignity no matter how they identify but this is not feeling fair and a bit one way tbh.

Maybe a mind map will help make sense of this all...

If it were a true transwomen (so felt they were in the wrong body until surgery etc), they would not be taking their penis out in public. The self identify crap is taking us into a weird and fucked-up world.

I don't think that's necessary. Is the victim of a woman who exposes her penis to them any more or less startled or upset than if a man exposed his penis to them? Is a woman who is raped by a woman with a penis less of a victim - or a different kind of victim - than a woman raped by a man?

I think the #notourcrimes hashtag is utter nonsense. What does it actually mean? Women trying to distance themselves from other women who happen to use their penises to commit crimes, because they themselves don't commit them? Well a high proportion of men have never raped anyone either so #notourcrimes applies to most men too.

Not reporting/ recording by sex muddies the water. It makes it look like sexual offences are not male pattern crimes, when 98% of sexual crimes are committed by men. It stops us questioning the way young boys are socialised. It stops us thinking about sex as a class. It is a ‘gotcha’- a ‘well women do it too’, so it’s not a man problem, we don’t need to investigate any further, or use sociological analysis. It is thought terminating.

This person doesn’t have gender dysphoria. If they did, they wouldn’t have their penis out in public. They are a man.

Thanks for that RedCarpet - an article like that makes it very clear how using “gender” obfuscates everything. All that talk of “gendered” categories.

If the people doing all this recognised that the real differentiating factor (when it comes to opportunities, historical/current disadvantage, relative air play etc) is sex, they might not get themselves in such a hopeless muddle to the point they’re pretending Sam Smith really isn’t either male or female.

Have the categories for male and female based on biological sex only and there you go, Sam Smith has a home there after all, and everyone knows what it is.

Only of course there are a lot of people apparently with a special interest in obscuring the fact that women’s oppression is sex based, and obscuring the fact that oppression is still very much current here as well as elsewhere. People who don’t want the very unpalatable truth that women are still second class citizens, and male people still benefit from that, to be acknowledged.

Whether that’s because it’s directly inconvenient for them and their cause, or just a bit embarrassing because, you know, they’re “decent chaps” who don’t want to have to think about all that kind of nasty stuff.

Back on topic, I agree with the many pp that using the word “penis” in the headline was a deliberate way of getting round those IPSO guidelines that have such a stranglehold on the media. I believe there’s some rule about not being able to refer to someone’s transgender status unless it’s relevant to the case, which, along with them having to affirm someone’s “gender” and use the pronouns they want, makes it very difficult to report clearly and accurately.

A classic example of “Stonewall law” whereby self ID has been ushered in through the capture of all these influential arms of the Establishment despite not being actual law. (Not sure obvs if it was actually Stonewall who got this done in this particular case, or another lobby group, or combination of groups; it’s just the apposite phrase to use here.)

I suspect congratulations are probably due to Georgia Banks for her creative solution to the dilemma. I have seen other articles about “women” exposing themselves where no mention was made at all of the male member involved, which is much more likely to be misleading, and I think she’s done a good job of pointing out the complete absurdity of it while staying within the rules, as indeed she has to.

That’s if she wrote the headline herself - I seem to remember journalists on here saying that they don’t write their own headlines, just the pieces? In which case, congratulations to whoever put the word “penis” in the title! It will have helped many readers ascend to a higher place, I’m sure.

The catalogue of offences and multiple breaching of sex register conditions is a massive concern.

They are a clear danger to women and girls of the vagina variety.

For public protection there needs to be prison. This is the one reason for prison that often seems to be overlooked. Others being rehabilitation (often included in reason someone being released) and punishment.

Over and over men who are very obviously dangerous to women and girls seem to be wandering about the place. And then guess what they do it again.

And of course loads and loads of these types of crimes aren't ever reported.

It's a massive concern that the risk element seems to be so trivial when it comes to men like this being free to reoffend.

That applies more in print than online. It can be the journalist or a more collaborative effort online as SEO comes into play.

It’s getting to the point now that when you read “woman” it must be a man. Otherwise it would have said vagina owner, person with a vulva, bleeding people...
