@Redshoeblueshoe

Seriously Bore - you have missed a golden opportunity here. Harrop and TV personality in the same sentence.

I would expect you to show us an example of that. Maybe one from Sky News ?Grin

Best 9 minutes ever, I love rewatching it every time its reposted. Makes me chuckle.
GertrudeKerfuffle · 30/11/2021 13:57

I'm thinking about the witnesses and hoping they're doing ok. This is still continuing to cause massive detriment to them. If the GMC sanctions Dr Harrop, would that lend wait to any criminal or legal action they might want to pursue?

GertrudeKerfuffle · 30/11/2021 13:59

Weight ffsHmm

Pthagonal · 30/11/2021 14:01

Another video to amuse us whilst we wait

@Jeeeez thank you!

Very interesting.

I am hoping and praying and got all my fingers crossed that my original statement isnt in the bundle. I'm sure I will find out pretty soon.
nauticant · 30/11/2021 14:06

1 month suspension for Harrop.

Terfydactyl · 30/11/2021 14:07

@nauticant

1 month suspension for Harrop.
What? No way.
BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 30/11/2021 14:07

Isn't that the mildest of slaps on the wrist?

Motorina · 30/11/2021 14:08

@Jeeeez thank you for all your hard work. You’re doing a superb job!

I am deeply amused that GP is grumpy you’ve missed his best lines. Typical barrister!

The panel read the vice article at stage two - it’s in their determination where they summarise the evidence.

Out dog walking but poised for news!

BreadInCaptivity · 30/11/2021 14:10

@nauticant

1 month suspension for Harrop.

Gobsmacked (and not in a good way).

Is this with or without review?

Motorina · 30/11/2021 14:11

Can’t imagine you’d review after a month - what would have changed?

Rightsraptor · 30/11/2021 14:11

One month! Is that all?

BoreOfWhabylon · 30/11/2021 14:13

Afternoon all. Seems I missed an opportunity to link my favourite video Grin

@Jeeeez
- A certain reporter has told me the information wasn't received from the doctor
Can you clarify which information this is please?

OP posts:
Pthagonal · 30/11/2021 14:13

One month - Is that all? Will he have to prove that he is no longer impaired after that month?

MummBRaaarrrTheEverLeaking · 30/11/2021 14:15

One single solitary pissweaseling month?? Shock What a piss take!

What on earth is their thinking? He'll only need a month to search his soul really hard, and change his misogynistic ways?? Yeah right!

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 30/11/2021 14:17

I don’t think it’s the mildest sanction - while the length is short, a suspension is the second highest sanction the tribunal can use isn’t it?

If a medical practitioners tribunal hearing finds that a doctor’s fitness to practise is impaired, it can:

take no action
agree to undertakings offered by the doctor at hearing
put conditions on the doctor’s registration, which restricts what a doctor is allowed to do
stop a doctor from working as a doctor for a set period of time (suspension)
erase the doctor from the medical register to stop them practising (erasure).

Redshoeblueshoe · 30/11/2021 14:18

One month. FFS

UncleTonyinahotpinkbrandbeanie · 30/11/2021 14:19

Presumably Ben Hunte is claiming he did not get his information from Harrop, which leaves one other person who claimed to have the bundle. ⛳️

I wonder why they have gone into private session again?

PronounssheRa · 30/11/2021 14:19

Not the best outcome but also not the worst.

Harrop admitted to a range of charges including attempts to intimidate, the GMC took the allegations seriously and the MPTS called his behaviour deplorable. This will follow him for the rest of his career.

For someone who thought he was untouchable this must sting.

BoreOfWhabylon · 30/11/2021 14:20

OK. Sitting on my hands waiting for @Motorina, @MissLucyEyelesbarrow and others who know more about this sort of thing to give their take on this.

He has been found guilty of misconduct and to have brought the profession into,disrepute. This will follow him around for a long time.

Northernlurker · 30/11/2021 14:21

Suspension is huge for a doctor. He can't work, he's been found to be impaired in his practice. Don't think of it like a prison sentence where time indicates seriousness of offence. It's the bare fact of suspension at all that does that here.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 30/11/2021 14:21

I see it differently. Regulators can look at the impact of the public nature of the findings on the individual as well. AH has been found to have so severely damaged trust in the medical profession due to his behaviour on social media that he was suspended at a time when GPs are in dire shortage.

He will never have the moral high ground again. Any SM misbehaviour will be closely scrutinised as his insight has already been questioned. Any relapse into old patterns could end his career for good.

He is now on very very thin ice.

BoreOfWhabylon · 30/11/2021 14:23

Thanks Pronouns and Northern. That was my thinking too.

X post. I meant I see it differently to those who think this is a slap on the wrist. It is a major public rebuke.
