Girlguiding simply will not ever hear/accept anything that doesn’t fit with the narrative that goes alongside the decisions HQ have made [without consulting Members].
• Remove God from Promise: lose Volunteers.
• Ignore feedback on (& serious concerns about) new Programme: lose Volunteers.
• Decide to Get Ahead Of The Law: lose Members of all ages including by permanent withdrawal of the Membership of Volunteers who were “too loud” (shall we say) about their safeguarding concerns.
Apparently they also can’t see the cognitive dissonance inherent in media calls limited to a TINY proportion of Units because they want to reflect the diversity of our Membership
Girlguiding are perfectly capable of abusing their Code of Conduct to punish Volunteers for whatever reason; but this is an occasion where there have been such clear breaches the Volunteer in question should have been suspended immediately (which of course can’t be discussed - as in, by them, there’s no bar on general speculation, obviously, much as they might wish it). It would be nice if that were the reason for certain changes on the internet, but We Shall See.
People making complaints might wish to emphasise that The Internet Is Forever - the situation cannot be remedied by taking down the posts in question & undertaking to follow Girlguiding’s social media policy in future. Every Google search will be a new hit of reputational damage as that Mail article comes up (& almost certainly gets circulated).
If we hear of earthquakes in Kenya that will just be Baden-Powell spinning like a top at what’s going on.
