So now we have two male categories Elite and Mediocre, because after all they don't need to do anything to compete in the women's category.

ScreamingMeMe · 18/11/2021 18:50

What the HELL.

Escapedgoats · 18/11/2021 18:51

My husband pointed it out to me. I think he wishes he hadn't said anything.

I mean - no, I have no words.

FlyingOink · 18/11/2021 18:54

Sweepstakes time! Which country (post Beijing) will field the highest percentage of males in female categories?

teawamutu · 18/11/2021 18:55

Fuck it.

We're obviously going to have to get a few Hubbards on the podium to show what's going on.

Sorry female athletes whose entire careers will be sacrificed. I hope some long term good will come of it.

Side note: any benefit in lobbying the individual federations, using the World Rugby policy?

FlyingOink · 18/11/2021 18:56

I don't think it will be a major player who does it first. But for a smaller nation - rich pickings. They could field only men, for example.

Who do we think will go 100% male?

FlyingOink · 18/11/2021 18:58

I hope it's a country most western men can't even find on a map, and that they sweep all the women's gold medals with their team of blokes.

If we can't get men to give a shit about women I guess we have to hope they care about national pride?

ErrolTheDragon · 18/11/2021 18:58

Well sure, of course male trans athletes shouldn't have to lower their testosterone - because they should be competing in the category appropriate to their sex.

Just get rid of this stupid idea that there is any validity to dividing sports by 'gender'.

Escapedgoats · 18/11/2021 18:59

Totally agree Errol. What a shit show.

Yes - here's hoping whoever it is pips China, Russia and America to the post.

That'll learn em.

CreepingDeath · 18/11/2021 19:04

So they think it's 'invasive' and 'disrespectful' to ensure that there is fair competition in international sporting competitions? Angry The testosterone levels were already a farce, and now they are not even needed. What a load of crap! I'm so angry that this is being done to female athletes and the IOC don't even give a shit.

And this: no athlete should be excluded from competition on the grounds of a perceived "unfair and disproportionate advantage" due to their gender

This doesn't make any sense. Gender is something you can identify into, so it's meaningless. Change the word 'gender' to 'age' and see how fair it is that adult athletes compete with children, or higher weight categories for boxing. The whole thing is bullshit.

It's so fucking obvious that the whole reason this is going ahead is because it primarily negatively affects female athletes.

CompleteGinasaur · 18/11/2021 19:06

News just out - Boris Johnson, desperate for a boost in the polls, has just appointed Nancy Kelley to head the British Olympic Committee....

SpudleyLass · 18/11/2021 19:06

What a bunch of cowardly shitgibbons.

Escapedgoats · 18/11/2021 19:19

I can't tell what's a joke and what's not anymore Gina.

Views about trans men’s needs are never more visibly absent from trans rights/women’s rights discussion than when it comes to sports.

I wonder if any sports regulator/governing body (not sure the term) ever gives a second to consider what steps they should take to be more inclusive to transmen.

If they did, even a seconds worth, would reveal the reasons we have separate sex categories for most sports.

Datun · 18/11/2021 19:19

So there is no criteria for a man to identify as a woman, and no criteria for him to compete in women's sport.

So any man, any time, any where. In any competition, at any time.

And it's not just elite sport, obviously, it's all sport. All women Ana girl's sport is affected.

I'm as cynical about patriarchal control of the next woman, but surely, for the love of god, most people will not find this acceptable.

The IOC addressed the criticisms directly within the report stating athletes should not be excluded due to "unverified, alleged or perceived unfair competitive advantage[s] due to their sex variations, physical appearance and/or transgender status".

Men should not be excluded from women's sports, because they are men.

The fuck the fuck off with this shit.

caringcarer · 18/11/2021 19:22

So many trans athletes about. They should have their own sporting events. Not hijack the woman's events.

CompleteGinasaur · 18/11/2021 19:26

I can't tell what's a joke and what's not anymore Gina.
The way I heard it, goats, is that our glorious leader was very impressed by NK's stunning success in destroying Stonewall from the inside. He feels confident that not only can she repeat that annihilation with regards to Women's Sports, but we'll get to top the Olympic Medal Table just in time for the next election. Double Bubble, eh!!
CompleteGinasaur · 18/11/2021 19:28

(And to be serious, it really is a case of if I didn't laugh, I'd cry..)

GoodieMoomin · 18/11/2021 19:40

"no athlete should be excluded from competition on the grounds of a perceived "unfair and disproportionate advantage" due to their gender"

What about ACTUAL, PROVEN, OBVIOUS FROM SPACE unfair advantages...?

Fuxake

Escapedgoats · 18/11/2021 20:09

Perceived advantages are much more important.😩
