Alls fair in love and sport, right. Is that not how the saying goes?

dyslek · 18/11/2021 20:26

On a more serious note, I think this will look so ridiculous as more and more countries field obvious men, men not even claiming to be women that women athletes will boycott sporting events as they have nothing to lose and it will become a farce.

I feel desperatly sorry for women athletes, this is so unfair. But then all of it is really, take your pick.

LigandBrigand · 18/11/2021 20:34

Absolute fuckers Angry

We need the whole cohort of male athletes and sports players to swap categories in a protest of solidarity with women.

It’s the quickest way to show this up.

Dinosauria · 18/11/2021 20:37

I actually couldn't fucking read that. What the fuck

Agreed. Although the current cohort will be fucked. Not sure I could swallow taking one for the team.

@Escapedgoats

I'll have Russia (will their ban be up by the next olympics?)
How can the Olympic committee ban drug cheats when they sanction this.
Dozer · 18/11/2021 20:40

No more women’s category because men’s wishes are more important.

CompleteGinasaur · 18/11/2021 20:47

All over the world, young female athletes are seeing their aspirations for their lives destroyed before they've even had a chance to compete. At the very minimum this mealy-mouthed refusal to deal with the issue is going to result in several years, maybe even a decades worth of athletes wiped out. If you were a 14yr old Biles or Navratilova (or whoever; I'm obviously not very sporty!) coming through now, why would you train, knowing it to be pointless? If You were a 7 yr athlete why would you even start?

donquixotedelamancha · 18/11/2021 20:49

Holy fuck. I just can't get my head around the stupidity.

We win one battle only to lose two more. It's going to take decades to dig the people who are pushing this shit out of national and international institutions.

borntobequiet · 18/11/2021 20:49

Well this is just mental. Are they on drugs?

BloodinGutters · 18/11/2021 20:50

Yep.

Testosterone.

Thelnebriati · 18/11/2021 20:52

So basically in this all inclusive Utopia, women are allowed to participate in 'sex work'. Nothing else.

Datun · 18/11/2021 20:52

Do they think that people will be so bloody outraged that if they revert back to the reduced testosterone scenario, everyone will be bloody grateful?

Datun · 18/11/2021 20:52

And by that I mean is this a deliberate ploy?

MrsTerryPratchett · 18/11/2021 20:53

OK, Im having a fiver on the US before anyone else nabs it.

Can I get a fiver on Iran?

LigandBrigand · 18/11/2021 20:54

And what does this mean?

”Whilst the guidelines also apply to athletes with difference of sex development (DSD), such as Caster Semenya, World Athletics confirmed to the Guardian that it would not implement the changes which would allow the 400m runner to compete without lowering her testosterone levels.”

Is that saying they will require DSD athletes to lower T but not transwomen? Am I understanding that right? How on earth does that makes any sense? How can they justify that?

OperationDessertStorm · 18/11/2021 21:03

I think that means we’re going to quickly see pressure to reclassify people with dsd’s as people with gender identities.
Gingercake2018 · 18/11/2021 21:06

We are already encouraging DD into sports that are generally more frequently appreciated as recreational activities (climbing and mountain biking) as it is what DH and I enjoy, but now we will make sure to direct her interest towards sports like these and away from ones that can only really be enjoyed competitively (particularly team sports/contact sports). Otherwise we are just setting her up for failure and disappointment. This whole situation makes me so f**king angry.

sharksarecool · 18/11/2021 21:08

There is always hope: look how far Stonewall have fallen in a year. There is still time for the IOC to wake up before the next Olympics. I hope they do, otherwise we may end up having to wait until some poor woman is killed or maimed.

MoveAhoy · 18/11/2021 21:09

My money is on South Africa!

Truthlikeness · 18/11/2021 21:13

It does leave us in the rather odd position where a women would be banned for taking testosterone, but a man is allowed to complete having benefited from a lifetime of it.

MoveAhoy · 18/11/2021 21:13

Or Iran or Jordan or Azerbaijan or Belarus or Lithuania or Sweden or Canada or...
It could be anyone. I retract my vote. I can't choose!

BloodinGutters · 18/11/2021 21:15

What about a gender fluid or non binary transman?

Are they allowed to keep taking testosterone and compete in the women’s section?

BelleOfTheProvince · 18/11/2021 21:17

This is the most depressing thing I have seen in a long time.
