He is positioning his defense as an addict.
Dopamine hits, learning the environment that "triggers" him , will maintain regular supervision etc.
I dare say he only kept his IG open to show he can safely have access to "some" social media and he will steer clear of the dangerous environments like Twitter where he could be tempted to "spiral".
If only he could have done a week at the Priory - I'm sure he would have gone, just to demonstrate the depths of his remorse.
"I was goaded, people were dreadful, I got sucked into it, I've learnt my lessons, colleagues will supervise me to make sure I maintain acceptable behaviour. I realise my triggers."
If the GMC can allow addicts to apologise, clean up and continue practicing why not someone who went a bit too far on social media and stopped entirely?
But fundamentally it comes down to how he treats people. How he bullies and harrasses people with a different view. He bragged about his profession and sought all manner of publicity. It wasnt a chemical addiction.
He built a pedestal of trans rights, put himself at the top of it and starting throwing torches. As a doctor he dragged his profession down with his reputation.
