These are meant to be clever young people...

Every time I see this stuff, I just feel more and more bafflement and despair.

Do these people really think that a male-bodied person can have PMS?

Who are these young women rushing in to 'be kind' and share their own experiences?

These are meant to be clever young people...

My view is not to feed this kind of manipulation.

Like much of Cummings' output TheCountessofFitzdotterel it was taken from elsewhere, in this case Orwell:

There are some ideas so absurd that only an intellectual could believe them.

foxgoosefinch · 03/11/2021 22:23

Just as everyone knows that bloke who has the cold you had but has it ten times worse (hello DP Hmm ), it’s so bloody male that this person has his period pains so much worse than an actual woman that he almost passed out!

Ooh I think that was my first deletion. Sorry MNHQ.

foxgoosefinch · 03/11/2021 22:36

I was just complaining to DP about this and he thought part of it is down to the usual euphemisms “cramps” and “stomach cramps” — so that maybe the TW aren’t aware that menstrual cramps are actually uterine cramps rather than - trapped wind? And nobody thinks to tell them because that would be far too, you know, triggering to mention the (nonexistent) uterus…?

Either that or it’s just knowing attention seeking and making stuff up.

foxgoosefinch · 03/11/2021 22:44

Oh my I just went and found that actual Camfess and now some daft young women are recommending raspberry leaf tea 😂😂😂😂😂

I really want to post on it to say I do hope the raspberry leaf tea tones up his uterine muscles, but I must. sit. on. hands.

I've been dying to post, but I'm on FB in my real name, and my DC would kill me.

I'm assuming Philomena is One of Us, though. 😁 Excellent work there, and also a shout out to the person who called out the endometriosis crap.

Fighting the urge to ask when “her” last period was…

Honestly - what the fuckity fuck is going on?

These pains / symptoms that TW are feeling aren’t periods. Do they have a uterus? No. Do you have periods? No. Yes, I’m fully aware that not all women have periods - but biologically, they are still women.

The side effects that TW have are as a consequence of the cocktail of drugs they take in order to pursue their aim of becoming a TW.

Why does this have to be the same experience that women have?? Why can’t it be a TW experience?

At the end of my tether….

HuhWhatNow · 03/11/2021 23:05

Aw how nice. We women are always being told by doctors and other healthcare professionals that our pain is not that bad, or that it's all in our head.

This chap is getting the full female experience now he's a "woman".

Only difference is, this one time the doctors would actually be right for once!

"It's in yer head, ya numpty!"

Sophoclesthefox · 04/11/2021 07:06

I’m torn between wanting to laugh because it’s just so stupid and actually being quite angry.

When the Endometriosis Society itself decides that “one in ten people” have endometriosis, I guess it should come as no surprise that knowledge and understanding about menstruation is going backwards to the dark ages.

Go on, tell me again how all this doesn’t by accident or design make women’s bodies unspeakable and unknowable again?

Nonsense. The only advice this person needs is to have some peppermint tea, see their GP and stop posting ridiculous crap on the internet.

Yusanaim · 04/11/2021 07:16

You can't have cramps without a uterus. But why don't you go on there and helpfully advise that it might be something else that she should get checked out, she should see a doc - IBS, appendicitis etc

MakingTheBestOfIt · 04/11/2021 07:40

My thoughts exactly. A man saying they have abdominal cramps so severe they think they might pass out would be advised to go to their GP if not A&E. A woman gets told to drink raspberry leaf tea and hug a hot water bottle because we’re socialised either to minimise her pain or simply not believe her.

This person is getting the authentic female experience.

The person who suggested endometriosis might not be that far off the mark.

The prevailing risk factor proposed in previous cases of male endometriosis is prolonged exposure to estrogen therapy. Should endometriosis become symptomatic, cessation of estrogen therapy and careful surgical intervention may successfully relieve the associated symptoms.

@Patapouf

I am so infuriated by how intelligent young women can so willingly embarrass themselves as they rush to validate a stupid male's fantasy. PMS my fucking arse.
Agree
FrancescaContini · 04/11/2021 08:21

Terrifyingly delusional.

Doubletoilandtrouble · 04/11/2021 09:21

I wonder what the advice would be if a transwoman posted that they were bleeding heavily from their genitalia?

“It will all be ok, it is normal. Just get nightpads, remember to take iron supplements. Try to relax” ???

ThreeLocusts · 04/11/2021 09:35

I've taught Cambridge students. They're widely overestimated smarts-wise. Having had a good education is not actually the same as being clever.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 04/11/2021 09:47

Indeed, ThreeLocusts. Also being clever isn’t the same as having good judgment. Probably a lot of these students would be perfectly capable of analysing and articulating the flaws in the ideology if they took the trouble to actually read and consider it but they have made the choice to accept it uncritically instead.

BriocheForBreakfast · 04/11/2021 09:57

Are these TW suffering pain symptoms or is it attention-seeking/validation (because this makes them 'one of the gang' ~rolls eyes~)? If they're experiencing pain, it's not period pain and they should probably get checked out by a doctor. Why would TW get lower abdominal pain if they don't have a uterus? Is it excess wind? Do the CSH affect their colon/instestines?

NoDecentHandlesLeft · 04/11/2021 10:08

I'm hoping that a lot of them missed the "trans" word in the OP.
But not convinced.

ginghamstarfish · 04/11/2021 10:12

Oh my goodness, just when you think this can't get any more ludicrous. Is this for real? And they are actual (young) women at university? I'd say at the very least that they're wasting a lot of money on tuition if they're really that stupid.

Blackopal · 04/11/2021 10:22

Yes I totally agree with that nauticant

I have this situation playing out in my family. One sibling who had always been domineering is saying they are trans.

The result in my family has been fascinating and disturbing.
Most of the family members (who privately agree my sibling has not magically changed sex) have taken the attitude of total submission while being lectured on pronouns and are encouraging aggressive victim hood.

The rest of us (who have not done anything except look on in benign bemusement) have been totally iced out and accused of being the worst of the worst by this snarling screaming 'vulnerable' person.

I can understand why the others are so quick to show their bellies, it's actually very cold on the outside of the pack and the pressure makes joining the group very tempting.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 04/11/2021 10:26

I had a look at that Camfess page. ‘When I hear a northern accent all I can think of is Emmerdale’.
Jeez, what a bunch of overprivileged ignorant twerps.

Very ignorant, considering Yorkshire is a completely different accent to, say, Liverpool or Durham, so there is no one "Northern" accent anyway! I feel like replying saying every time I hear a "southern" accent all I can think of is Eastenders...
