These are meant to be clever young people...

Every time I see this stuff, I just feel more and more bafflement and despair.

Do these people really think that a male-bodied person can have PMS?

Who are these young women rushing in to 'be kind' and share their own experiences?

@NameChangeinHaste

I don’t understand. What part of the anatomy do they believe is cramping. On the occasions I get cramps they’re from muscular contractions in my uterus. So what exactly do they have that is “cramping?” I can understand if they’re PMS was just referring to hormonal effects of the drugs being taken, and potential mood swings. But this leaves me baffled.
I doubt they believe anything of the sort, it's just plain old attention seeking.

QueenSue · 03/11/2021 18:59

I wonder if some of them missed the "trans" in that post.
Why else would they offer female-specific advice?
Do they really want to enable a delusion/fetish?

quiteathome · 03/11/2021 19:02

Oh for goodness sake. Where does this madness end. I understand the being grumpy or something when taking cross sex hormones. This is just delusional, and insulting.

Trying to get help for period/ menstrual issues is hard enough without people making up crap. And they will probably get some sort of help to validate them. Leaving actual women out.

Waahingwashingwashing · 03/11/2021 19:04

That person needs to seek urgent medical advice.

Thefartingsofaofdenmarkstreet · 03/11/2021 19:05

This is a group for people at Cambridge University???

Toseland · 03/11/2021 19:17

Ok let’s be kind.
Mate you are either wanting a fight, deluded, fetishising or being poisoned.
Or maybe all of them.
Go and see your GP.

eustonwehaveaproblem · 03/11/2021 19:22

These aren't Cambridge University students, are they....? Surely not.

Doubletoilandtrouble · 03/11/2021 19:30

Hmmm….

I thought that is you suddenly found lots of blood in your underwear you were either a woman or in urgent need of a doctor….

Sexnotgender · 03/11/2021 19:30

You know it’s funny (not really).

For people who are so sure apparently that they are women, they don’t really seem to have any idea about women or their bodies.

parentalhelpline · 03/11/2021 19:33

thefartings and euston I'm afraid they probably are Cambridge students. It seems that it's orthodoxy there amongst students as much as anywhere else that TWAW, at least from what my DC tell me.

“severe period pain is not normal, in spite of what GPs will readily tell you - look into endometriosis x”

Hilarious!

Helleofabore · 03/11/2021 19:56

I recommend laxatives.

If that male is getting cramps, they need to up their fibre and drink more water. That happens at this time of years when the heaters dehydrate you.

Other than that, I would recommend an enema and a camera to check everything is ok. I have heard the drink to flush you out is very wicked, but hey, that male has cramps already so supposedly they understand how it will feel.

DuckDuckNo · 03/11/2021 20:11

Good grief.

Many of them seem to think that oestrogen causes the cramping.

When it is actually prostaglandins that cause it, and they are being secreted by the endometrial lining when it sheds from the uterus. So, first you have to have a uterus with an endometrium that needs shedding, and when it sheds it causes the uterus to cramp so that the byproducts are ejected, so to speak, from the uterus.

It's interesting how little they know of the thing they covet.

WonderfulYou · 03/11/2021 20:23

I would recommend they speak to their GP urgently if they are experiencing abdominal pain so severe they felt like passing out.

I agree and actually hope someone puts this on the comments!

2319inprogress · 03/11/2021 20:24

Bloody hell males bleeding from their genitals should seek medical attention surely Hmm

They've got the seeking attention part down now all they need is symptoms & medical staff

NiceGerbil · 03/11/2021 20:25

This seems to be a general thing with males interestingly.

In general I've seen articles etc about-

Male menopause
PND

While I am all in favour of having issues recognised, discussed etc etc. Men getting help and so on.

Why can't they get some new bloody terms rather than using ones that are in place for women. Related to our particular biology. And we've spent years working to get taken more seriously and tbh still are?

It's so bloody lazy. And imo reflects a male lack of interest in, understanding of, respect for things that women experience.

It's really fucking me off.

If hormone treatment has side effects which somehow come monthly (??) then get a different term FGS.

WonderfulYou · 03/11/2021 20:25

Without sounding really stupid - to have a sex change I thought they just turn the penis into a vagina.
They don’t put in a fake uterus or anything do they?

I’m confused what the pain is they’re referring to?

Females have pain due to the uterus shedding it’s lining, not due to the hormones being produced.

Someone is suggesting that a man…be put on the pill…to help him deal with PMS symptoms?

These days I just feel exhausted depression at this kind of utter nonsense.

QueenSue · 03/11/2021 20:37

That is impossible, you can't create a vagina, a muscular self-cleaning organ, from a penis. You can only create the appearance of a vulva and vagina through surgery. Most trans women choose to keep their penis anyway.

NiceGerbil · 03/11/2021 20:41

In general males seem to see the biology as irrelevant.

With periods it seems to be about chocolate, crying. Mood swings.

In terms of physical symptoms. I've seen tummy pain cited. And the runs. I get the runs with period. That's something that can happen and biological reasons. If a male gets the runs once a month then their kitchen hygiene/ takeaway places etc prob are the first thing to look into...

WonderfulYou · 03/11/2021 20:46

Yes obviously it’s not the real vagina but the penis is pushed up inside to create a canal that looks like one and obviously a clitorous and labia are created somehow too.
But I was asking if it’s only the outside that is changed or if things are changed inside to be more ‘female’ like a fake uterus or something which is why they think they’re getting pains there.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 03/11/2021 20:54

No, it's not. Another thing they like to fantasise about is that womb transplants into male bodies will be happening in the near future and will lead to transwomen being able to get pregnant. The ignorance about the complexity of pregnancy and female anatomy generally is off the scale.

NiceGerbil · 03/11/2021 20:54

This is another example of the male tendancy to trivialise our biology. To only be interested in the functions they are interested in. To ignore/ not care about/ disrespect the complexity etc of our bodies.

No a vagina is not an inside out penis.
No you can't create a clitoris or labia.

You can make things that superficially look similar.

I mean the clitoris is a great example.

Still generally it's the external part that is known.

Does this creation of a clitoris include the complex large internal part? Wild guess. Nope.
