FindTheTruth · 27/10/2021 20:59

BBC spokesperson said: “The article looks at a complex subject from different perspectives and acknowledges it is difficult to assess the extent of the issue.

“It includes testimony from a range of different sources and provides appropriate context. It went through our rigorous editorial processes.

“It is important that journalism looks at issues - even where there are strongly held positions. The BBC is here to ensure debate and to make sure a wide a range of voices are heard.”

@MargaritaPie

"This is the thread for discussing the bbc article about the cotton ceiling"

I thought the BBC article was about implying that transwomen are sex predators?

Did you actually read it? Seems not.
BloodinGutters · 03/11/2021 14:32

It’s almost like some people don’t read the titles of threads they post on.

I’ll just nip over to a thread about bf and start whinging about cf neighbours.

It’s like ‘hi how are you today’ and @MargaritaPie response is ‘two sugars and milk’

If that's how you read it, perhaps that reflects your subconscious transphobia.
MargaritaPie · 03/11/2021 14:33

"Do you mean that maybe pornography and working in the pornography industry is detrimental to mental health, and attitudes towards others"

The reasons why she is of unsound mind aren't for us to judge, but it looks like you are possibly agreeing that Cade is possibly unstable and may need some sort of mental health help to ensure she doesn't pose any risk of harm to anyone?

334bu · 03/11/2021 14:34

Some transwomen are sex predators.

BloodinGutters · 03/11/2021 14:34

The article doesn’t ‘imply’ anything. I says SOME tw are predators.

Or are you calling the lesbians interviewed about this liars @MargaritaPie? Are you claiming rape victims are lying now?

Lilly Cade wasn’t one of the victims interviewed btw, she was interviewed about where the term COTTON CEILING came from.

MargaritaPie · 03/11/2021 14:34

"If that's how you read it, perhaps that reflects your subconscious transphobia"

At least I'm not the one throwing around the word "rape" like some others on this thread trying to imply transwomen are "rapists".

334bu · 03/11/2021 14:36

Some lesbians are raped by male people who identify as women. Their rapes are aggravated by the threat from these male people that they will shame them within their community. Why is this not newsworthy in your opinion Margarita?

Helleofabore · 03/11/2021 14:38

At least I'm not the one throwing around the word "rape" like some others on this thread trying to imply transwomen are "rapists".

Have you listened to yourself?

Even the title of the article said SOME in the big letters!

If we are talking about rapists in general, do we need to preface it as NAMALT? Or does having a title stating 'some' and discussing that some in the article cover that?

Stop reading the twitter disseminations by people building their following, as you usually do, and engage your capacity to read and analyse the article for yourself.

BloodinGutters · 03/11/2021 14:39

@334bu

Some transwomen are sex predators.
But like some men are
Vanishun · 03/11/2021 14:40

Margarita and co in general:

"You can't believe anything you read online, and the BBC are charlatans who are quoting liars spreading misinformation."

Also Margarita and co in general:

"We've found an example of one woman online who is said to be insanely rambling about death threats and other incoherent things - so it's definitely true and representative of you and everything you want, you Mumsnet monsters."

The lesbians interviewed in the article were raped by transwomen. M

None of us, or the article, are IMPLYING that tw are rapists. We are SAYING that SOME transwomen are rapists. And that we believe the lesbians RAPE VICTIMS in the article.

Some transwomen are rapists. Some men are rapists. No implication, it’s fact.

This is the thread for discussing the bbc article about the cotton ceiling.

No, this thread is about the BBC's response to the backlash of that article.

The (2nd & current) thread for discussing the BBC article about the cotton ceiling is right here

Datun · 03/11/2021 14:43

I'm not interested in discussing "cotton ceiling" here

Too bad. That's what the thread is about.

The cotton ceiling refers to the gusset in the knickers of women. It's a play on the term glass ceiling. Something to be broken through.

A workshop was given to transwomen to help them deal the cotton ceiling. It was part of the title.

Cotton ceiling. Women's knickers. A thin cotton barrier between the outside world and their genitalia.

Some women, lesbians, have reported being coerced into sex by transwomen in direct violation of not only their sexual orientation, but their sexual boundaries and consent.

Yet more TRAs are trying to discredit these accounts, by any means possible, whilst never once appearing to criticise the concept of the cotton ceiling.

(Just reiterating the point of the thread).

334bu · 03/11/2021 14:45

But like some men are
Some people born male are sex predators. Men, transwomen and non binary male born people are just as likely and just as unlikely to be sex offenders as any person of the male sex.

Datun · 03/11/2021 14:46

And there's always at least one rule that applies, isn't there. This time it's number 10.

10. The worst thing about male violence is that it makes men look bad.

Doubletoilandtrouble · 03/11/2021 14:47

I think that some transwomen have been convicted of rape. With their penises. In the U.K. you need a penis to rape.

I thought this thread was about TRAs so desperate to silence this that they attacked an impartial BBC article where everyone was invited to speak, including the cyclist and Dennis Riley who both have told lesbians that they should do penis.

But Lily Cade does seem quite disturbed and she probably needs help. I am not sure where she has posted her rant but it should be subject to the laws in that country.

I do believe that porn and prostitution messes people up. I have read two interesting reports recently, one showing how awful men became when they used porn, the other about the links between men using prostitutes and sexual assault. I will see if I can start a thread on that.

BloodinGutters · 03/11/2021 14:47

K. I’m sure you get what I meant.

Thread about awful shit males do to women and @MargaritaPie turns up and says I’m not discussing the awful shit males do to women, but one of the women did x y & z and you must all buy that’s worse.

BloodinGutters · 03/11/2021 14:52

@Datun

And there's always at least one rule that applies, isn't there. This time it's number 10.

10. The worst thing about male violence is that it makes men look bad.

Isn’t it that the worst thing is women talking about it because it will make men look bad.

I don’t think that many men care it makes them look bad as long as we are silent.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/11/2021 14:54

I guess that's too bad, because that's what the thread is about.

Datun · 03/11/2021 14:56

Yes, that's right actually. It could probably do with an edit. They don't give a shit if women are raped, as long as they don't talk about it.

It's the very fact that this has gone into an article by the BBC, that is producing the howls of outrage.

Everybody knows that lesbians are targeted. Not a day goes by without a mention of it on social media. Whole groups have been set up to counter it.

But now it's down there in black-and-white, and everyone else can see it. That's the problem.

LaetitiaASD · 03/11/2021 14:59

@334bu

Some transwomen are sex predators.
Almost certainly less than 100%
MargaritaPie · 03/11/2021 14:59

"But like some men are [sex predators]"

Some Gender Criticals are too. Ms Lily Cade for instance.

BloodinGutters · 03/11/2021 15:02

That’s part of why there’s the accusations of transphobia and the threats and harassment.

If they can silence lesbians from coming forward in msm then no one hears about it, so they don’t look bad and get to keep pretending the transitioning makes them women.

It’s the double whammy of lesbians who are victims of tw speaking up brings. Not only does it now make a subset of men look bad. But it makes them look like men, also.

Can’t keep pretending anyone sees them as women then.
