www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-57853385 including Angela Wild, Rose of Dawn and Debbie Hayton. There’s no way this would have been published even just a few months ago 🤯

Yes sent a compliment. Strangely much easier than the complaint form...

JacquelineCarlyle · 26/10/2021 20:15

How do you send a compliment?

Cati482 · 26/10/2021 20:17

I’ve just sent a compliment. Literally took seconds.

bellinisurge · 26/10/2021 20:19

Compliment sent.

The brass neck of these people complaining about a story based on small number self referring individuals. The IOC's bullshit about trans male born athletes is based on 8 people.

OvaHere · 26/10/2021 20:20

I sent a compliment earlier.

I'd be interested to read the complaints. If most have come via twitter I bet a good proportion will not have been able to moderate their language into something sensible that doesn't begin with "suck my".

I imagine people are complaining to BBC that the article further stigmatises trans people who are an oppressed group of people who are sometimes subject to violence and/or driven to suicide due to bullying or lack of acceptance or poor healthcare etc. While this may be true and very sad, it shouldn't mean that radical trans ideology is above criticism.

JacquelineCarlyle · 26/10/2021 20:26

Thanks @bellinisurge - compliment sent.

Franca123 · 26/10/2021 20:27

I mean, it's called the 'cotton ceiling'. What else do these people need to know. It's so rapey. And Stonewall employ the [person] who ran a course using that term in the title........ Now Stonewall educate children in state schools.

AlfonsoTheUnrepetant · 26/10/2021 20:32

Compliment sent.
I have sent feedback to the BBC thanking them for publishing this, etc. Please do the same, everyone. They reckon that one piece of feedback represents the views of about 100 others, so if we all write in it will be seen as massive vindication and encouragement. Here's the link again (and thanks to others who have posted it): www.bbc.co.uk/contact/comments-feedback/#/review
I've done the same.
It matters, make no mistake the wrong side of history will be bombarding them.
Get your rational thanks in now.

ArtemesiaK · 26/10/2021 20:33

Me too!

If you look at the stats you’ll find that tw in the uk are the group at least risk of being murdered, that the sui stats come from a study of only 27, all of whom had previous mh problems and that the nhs say trans children don’t present any higher risk of sui that children under care of camhs (which presumably includes kids diagnosed through camhs with autism age 5 and up).

You need to learn the difference between prejudice, discrimination and oppression. Because while transmen and female nb people are oppressed tw are not. Miranda Yardley has a very easy to understand and short but very effective explanation on his website (Mir uses male pronouns, so I respect his preference).

The only 'trans people' this article stigmatises are the rapists and potential rapists who identify as lesbians and think that actual lesbians owe them sex. These people clearly exist, and even Stonewall admitted they exist since they said in their statement that lesbians were 'prejudiced' for not wanting to have sex with them.

Do you believe that these males are not really trans or do you agree with Stonewall that a lesbian is prejudiced if she won't have sex with someone with a penis?

Datun · 26/10/2021 20:42

the article is shockingly poorly researched, based on a biased online poll of 80 women. Sheesh, give me a break

I love this. We did some research based on 80 women.

Omg! You did some research... based on 80 women!!!

Blackandwhitehorse · 26/10/2021 20:42

PickleC · 26/10/2021 20:45

Sent off the feedback to thank them for the story as well.

The knots that those complaining about the story are tying themselves in - 'Well it doesn't happen but if anyone did say no they would be horrible bigots.'

How quickly we moved from a #MeToo idea of women being believed when they report abuse to women being publicly denounced and shamed for the same

dapsnotplimsolls · 26/10/2021 20:46

Apologies if this has already been posted but I saw this on twitter today in response to Ash's tweet - it debunks the suicide stats

LobsterNapkin · 26/10/2021 20:47

@BoreOfWhabylon

I'm pretty sure Idris Elba would refuse to have sex with me (a fat ageing heterosexual white woman)

Clearly racist.

Yeah, he won't have sex with me either. It's clearly a pattern of behavior with him. He needs to do some thinking.
WarriorN · 26/10/2021 20:50

Skimming thread, I can't see it, Ann Sinnott reports that the journalist who wrote the price has had to close down her twitter as a result.

Abhannmor · 26/10/2021 20:51

Yes thanks @bellinisurge . Positive Feedback sent! No Debate is over.

WarriorN · 26/10/2021 20:51

"There have been 500 or so complaints to the BBC about the Caroline Lowbridge's Cotton Ceiling story - and she has had to close her Twitter account because of the onslaught. Let the BBC know your views with this simple form - you can elect for anonymity."
