www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-57853385 including Angela Wild, Rose of Dawn and Debbie Hayton. There’s no way this would have been published even just a few months ago 🤯

The Twitter outrage snd comments suggests they’ve not read the article.

I think this is one of the main issues in life now - no-one reads anything in full just a snippet, and then they go and lose their shit.

Signalbox · 26/10/2021 17:03

Apologies I've not read the whole thread so this has probably been covered. But I was just speechless at Ash Sarkar on twitter saying...

"Nobody should be pressure into sex for any reason"

And then...

"So you wouldn't find it bigoted if someone went around talking about how they wouldn't sleep with a woman of colour because they find them disgusting and not real women"

I mean can she honestly not see that the comparison of lesbians, who don't want to sleep with people who call themselves trans women, to racists IS creating a social pressure that might impact on young women. It's just staggering.

I must say, I find the implied approval of coercion and corrective rape in Nancy Kelley's contribution to that article very troubling. When I remember she's Chief Executive of the country's largest, richest, most influential and powerful LGBT charity with the access and reach that position entails, my blood runs cold.

I sometimes wonder if there's any element of trans ideology that is so indefensible even Talcum and Ash won't defend it.

Today we have them defending heterosexual men coercing lesbians into sex, so I guess the answer is no, there isn't.

Clymene · 26/10/2021 17:10

Everyone's favourite sociology prof Finn Mackay has weighed in and accused the BBC of fear mongering and whipping up hatred of trans women. Lesbians commit sexual violence too!

97% of sexual violence is committed by men Finn.

I genuinely don't think there is, Corgi. Ash is a troll, and LOJ is so puffed up with his own righteousness that he can't possibly ever be wrong on a moral question.

As long as those elements are patriarchal and only affects women negatively, then they will be defended.
NecessaryScene · 26/10/2021 17:13

@Lovelyricepudding

Lots of RTAs (Radical Transactivists) frothing about how dare people try to generalise from a minority etc.but seem to ignore the fact that Stonewall is supporting that 'minority'.
As Glinner (ie me) says, if these are outliers, they've very central outliers.
MassiveHoard · 26/10/2021 17:14

@Angrysaurus

I'll just leave this here. www.gov.uk/complain-about-charity

If anyone wants to complain to the charities commission about Stonewalls homophobia and enthusiasm for coercive corrective rape.

STONEWALL EQUALITY LIMITED, Charity number: 1101255

The process is to first complain to the charity, which you know they won't respond to [email protected], when they ignore you or give unsatisfactory responses you can proceed with your complaint.

Thanks! I've done the first step. Genius.

That whole document is completely bonkers! I wish it was a joke, but unfortunately not, I can't believe they are advising government organisations Shock.

I have wondered if hes not a bit dim.

The bit where he's been challenged about performing cunnilingus in the context of talking about transwomen being women, it should be completely obvious what that challenge is. And he is either not picking up on it, or is purposefully ignoring it.

Now, maybe it's the latter, but to me he typically seems to have the fervor of the True Believer.

NewlyGranny · 26/10/2021 17:24

Chilling to hear how very young lesbian women are being coerced (or worse) into sex with intact transwomen to "prove" they aren't transphobic.

DisappearingGirl · 26/10/2021 17:24

Ash Sarkar: "So you wouldn't find it bigoted if someone went around talking about how they wouldn't sleep with a woman of colour because they find them disgusting and not real women"

You know what, it's fine if someone doesn't want to sleep with women of colour. Or only wants to sleep with women of colour. Or only wants to sleep with men with big noses. As someone said earlier, you are choosing a sexual partner, not providing a service! It is not subject to equality legislation!

Obviously no-one should be calling anyone else disgusting just because they are black, trans, or anything else. But I don't think anyone is doing that.

AlfonsoTheUnrepetant · 26/10/2021 17:24

@Berthatydfil

One of the things that opened my eyes to this was reading about the Cotton Ceiling and seeing a comment saying (not an exact quote) that lesbians needed help to be able to cope with a penis in sex and thinking that needing to cope and an enjoyable sexual encounter did not sit well together and it sounded to me a lot like rape.
That's Riley J Dennis's approach. Dennis said something along the lines of "it's ok if you're female and were sexually assaulted but you'd better hurry up and get over any trauma because you're inconveniencing bepenised people with your transphobia".
onlysomany · 26/10/2021 17:25

The TRAs are organising complaints about the news item.

Please send the BBC a comment giving them praise for running this article. It's easy to do:

Blackandwhitehorse · 26/10/2021 17:25

The comments on Twitter seem to mainly be how dare the bbc report this about a minority.

No one is addressing the fact the ideology and Stonewall actually support this -that’s the real issue. If they didn’t then lesbians wouldn’t be under this pressure and there would have been no story.

SaltedCaramelHC · 26/10/2021 17:28

@SaltedCaramelHC

Interesting that it had been on the front page of my app earlier today, under 'features and analysis', on the main page. Then it could be found if you chose 'England', but it doesn't seem to be on the front page of England any more. Now the only way to find it on the app seems to be through 'popular' (most read) stories - which seems like a slightly deliberate way of getting rid of it, as it's not going to say on 'most read' if they've taken it off other places.
Yep, now this is exactly what has happening - it's now no longer on 'most read' on my app either, let alone on the England page or the main page, as it was earlier in the day.

Not sure what people would have to search for now to find it, but they're not going to come across it randomly, at any rate.

DuckDuckNo · 26/10/2021 17:29

@Blackandwhitehorse

I think this is one of the main issues in life now - no-one reads anything in full just a snippet, and then they go and lose their shit.

People are also actively encouraged not to read "wrongthink". No debate, block and stay safe! And so on.
FloralBunting · 26/10/2021 17:30

Refusing service to a person of colour in a shop is racism.

Refusing to service a person of colour in your bed is not racism. No one's body is available to anyone else on an equal rights basis.

As Magdalen says, the difference between saying 'I don't do fatties' and 'I am a lesbian and therefore don't do dick' is because the first is unnecessary, but heterosexuality is the default.

How the fuck did we go from 'I believe you', 'me too' and discussions about enthusiastic consent to this coercive rapey shite? What is fucking wrong with people?

Angrysaurus · 26/10/2021 17:31

Thanks! I've done the first step.

Me too, how long do you think is a reasonable amount of time to wait before step 2?

NoToast · 26/10/2021 17:36

This is huge, this is a phase shift. The BBC has sent a clear signal that Stonewall is no longer untouchable.

ErrolTheDragon · 26/10/2021 17:36

Not sure what people would have to search for now to find it, but they're not going to come across it randomly, at any rate.

The bbc Search function seems well nigh useless.
'Lesbian' gives no hits at all.
'Stonewall' gives a hit for stonewall riots.

I found the piece by searching for 'transgender' - it offered 'transgender people' which led to lots of pieces including this one.
This shows some of the bias in the BBC. The primary focus of this should be the lesbians being affected, not the trans people.

FindTheTruth · 26/10/2021 17:46

Well, here's silicon valley lesbophobia in action for you. Twitter's editorial of this trending topic, plays up the TRA narrative. It's aTWITTER LONG TRA explanation of how awful we are. Compare this to the normal 'explanations' for trending topics.
