I like the coconut version of the caramel wafers. If the TRAs make them repent this gesture, I'm not sure I can give them up.

Good.... though I've always had reservations about a chocolate marshmallow biscuit identifying as a 'teacake'. They'd be a horrid mess if you toasted and buttered them.

Ah well, fortunately I can't eat them anyway so I don't have to give them up.

I'm not really a fan of dragging businesses into this situation, whether that's done by GC people, trans activists, whatever.

Does it never occur to the transactivists that rather than wailing about a group representing lesbian, gay and bisexual people being given something nice, they should simply ask tunnocks if they can have some of their own too?

I agree. Tunnocks obviously from their brief response give biscuits out as a mixture of a nice gesture and a marketing tool.

Hasn't put me off Tunnocks.

Tunnocks are already being boycotted by many of the hardcore Scottish nats as they have a union flag on their packaging.

Tunnocks do an awful lot for charity. They will pretty much give any cause free boxes of tea cakes or caramel wafers if you go to their factory and pick them up. We use to get loads every year for the PTA events, if you give blood at the main centre in Glasgow there are loads of tunnocks snacks in the tea area. Family run, local company which supports its local community.

Was it fair of LGB Alliance to put Tunnocks on the spot like this? They would have know the furore that would follow and could have sent a private thank you message instead, for what was a kind gesture. I feel a bit sorry for Tunnocks, I get the impression they are a kind, old fashioned company, who have unwittingly stumbled into this. Unless Tunnocks are nailing their colours to the mast (which is probably unlikely). I know ultimately the aggressive TRAs are at fault, but it just makes me feel uneasy.
