Don't you just love it when a company that makes stuff you like comes out as being ethically sound?

What a wonderful excuse to add chocolate tea cakes and caramel wafer biscuits to my next grocery order.

GreyhoundG1rl · 22/10/2021 16:32

Oh, great! Any excuse...

Stayingnomorethanayearpal · 22/10/2021 16:32

Yasss ! Tunnocks are already my favourite biscuits of all time -all of them especially the teacakes !This is fab !

Etinoxaurus · 22/10/2021 16:37

What do y’all think they’re saying? Because it’s as clear as mud to me.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 22/10/2021 16:42

Love the way all the frothing and hate against the LGB Alliance is dismissed with humour and amusement. The fury that not only women but now lesbians and gay men will not do as we tell them is so funny.

Real toddler tantrums. Grin

EsmaCannonball · 22/10/2021 17:00

I like the coconut version of the caramel wafers. If the TRAs make them repent this gesture, I'm not sure I can give them up.

ErrolTheDragon · 22/10/2021 17:05

Good.... though I've always had reservations about a chocolate marshmallow biscuit identifying as a 'teacake'. They'd be a horrid mess if you toasted and buttered them. Grin

SweetPetrichor · 22/10/2021 17:08

Ah well, fortunately I can't eat them anyway so I don't have to give them up.

KittenKong · 22/10/2021 17:10

Why - because they were handed out at a conference? 🙄

EsmaCannonball · 22/10/2021 17:13

I once, briefly, thought my dog had testicular cancer. It was after a family birthday party and I picked him up and discovered a large, flesh-coloured lump on his genitals. Upon further, panicked, investigation it turned out he'd managed to get half a Tunnock's Teacake stuck to the side of his balls and he'd licked most of the chocolate off.

Never going to be able to eat a teacake again
Lammysaurus · 22/10/2021 17:24

Yikes, the responses to that are a rogues' gallery of homophobes!!

Sorry, "Robert" and "Tim", but lesbians were never gonna have sex with you. Get over it.

nauticant · 22/10/2021 17:25

I'm not really a fan of dragging businesses into this situation, whether that's done by GC people, trans activists, whatever.

ErrolTheDragon · 22/10/2021 17:26

Does it never occur to the transactivists that rather than wailing about a group representing lesbian, gay and bisexual people being given something nice, they should simply ask tunnocks if they can have some of their own too?

Confused
ArabellaScott · 22/10/2021 17:29

Fake news. No one has the will power to boycott those beauties.

The first time ever a Mail comment has made me lol.

SirSamuelVimes · 22/10/2021 17:30

Ooh tunnocks teacakes. Delish.

catzwhiskas · 22/10/2021 18:11

Mail article hilarious with India “calling for calm” and Esma’s post above caused convulsions for several minutes.

I agree. Tunnocks obviously from their brief response give biscuits out as a mixture of a nice gesture and a marketing tool.

Tunnocks isn't endorsing anything.

I don't think it will make the slightest dent in Tunnocks sales.

Pumperthepumper · 22/10/2021 18:56

Tunnocks are really, really generous with freebies, I hope this doesn’t put them off.

LOL.

Hasn't put me off Tunnocks.

KingsleyShacklebolt · 22/10/2021 19:06

Tunnocks are already being boycotted by many of the hardcore Scottish nats as they have a union flag on their packaging.

Tunnocks do an awful lot for charity. They will pretty much give any cause free boxes of tea cakes or caramel wafers if you go to their factory and pick them up. We use to get loads every year for the PTA events, if you give blood at the main centre in Glasgow there are loads of tunnocks snacks in the tea area. Family run, local company which supports its local community.

SusannaRowan · 22/10/2021 19:11

Was it fair of LGB Alliance to put Tunnocks on the spot like this? They would have know the furore that would follow and could have sent a private thank you message instead, for what was a kind gesture. I feel a bit sorry for Tunnocks, I get the impression they are a kind, old fashioned company, who have unwittingly stumbled into this. Unless Tunnocks are nailing their colours to the mast (which is probably unlikely). I know ultimately the aggressive TRAs are at fault, but it just makes me feel uneasy.

After all, it doesn't matter if you piss off those who were already boycotting you.

nothingcomestonothing · 22/10/2021 19:13

OMG I love their plain chocolate tea cakes - so glad I can now eat them with impunity!
