Don't you just love it when a company that makes stuff you like comes out as being ethically sound?

What a wonderful excuse to add chocolate tea cakes and caramel wafer biscuits to my next grocery order.

I was at a wedding where the cake was made by Tunnocks. No it wasn’t a giant tea cake (shame), it was a big white wedding cake decorated with roses.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/10/2021 19:20

Tunnocks seem to be getting a lot of support on Twitter from people fed up of cancel culture who have read the DM piece... easily cancelling out the whiny ones.

PigeonLittle · 22/10/2021 19:21

I have it on good aurhority after their support of the LGB Alliance, every Tunnocks Teacake you eat from now on will be calorie free.

@SusannaRowan

Was it fair of LGB Alliance to put Tunnocks on the spot like this? They would have know the furore that would follow and could have sent a private thank you message instead, for what was a kind gesture. I feel a bit sorry for Tunnocks, I get the impression they are a kind, old fashioned company, who have unwittingly stumbled into this. Unless Tunnocks are nailing their colours to the mast (which is probably unlikely). I know ultimately the aggressive TRAs are at fault, but it just makes me feel uneasy.
That's it exactly. An old-fashioned, family run business which goes out of its way to support local causes. This isn't a big political statement from them.

@EsmaCannonball

I once, briefly, thought my dog had testicular cancer. It was after a family birthday party and I picked him up and discovered a large, flesh-coloured lump on his genitals. Upon further, panicked, investigation it turned out he'd managed to get half a Tunnock's Teacake stuck to the side of his balls and he'd licked most of the chocolate off.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

My mom had to slam the brakes on in her car I was holding some no bake chocolate cake on my lap when we looked down it looked like someone had shit on the gearstick she said i didn't think it was that close couldn't you have waited....we howled the other people (who were checking we were OK) were Confused

DH and I are howling. 😂🤣😂 Thanks Esme.

When the SNP supporters boycotted Tunnocks for naming it the “Great British teacake” and putting union jack flags on the packet, their sales rocketed 35%! Tunnocks had to increase production to meet the increased demand.
I do hope the same happens again. Great company, always on the side of the goodies!

TheSpottedZebra · 22/10/2021 20:09

@EsmaCannonball

I like the coconut version of the caramel wafers. If the TRAs make them repent this gesture, I'm not sure I can give them up.
Esma you have contributed so much to this thread, but I feel this ^ has been overlooked.

THEY DO COCONUT WAFERS???? This is brand new (and very welcome) information!

Wildfart · 22/10/2021 20:16

Hilarious.

Are the teacakes on the right side of the history plate or have they simply #been kind?

Oh, yes, I'd forgotten about that.

... Cadbury's Roses?
Gncq · 22/10/2021 20:20

Do you think they'll repent like motherfuckers?

Wildfart · 22/10/2021 20:22

Gender neutral fuckers please.

SirVixofVixHall · 22/10/2021 20:24

I blooming love Tunnocks in any form, but since a coeliac diagnosis I can only eat the Snowballs, which I love but I long for a gluten free caramel wafer or teacake. Oh and the elusive silver wrapped crumbly ones yum yum

MajesticWhine · 22/10/2021 20:26

Birthingpersonfuckers

KittenKong · 22/10/2021 20:26

ArabellaScott - no, just wee icing roses. They used to make celebration cakes - not sure if they still do.

Limer · 22/10/2021 20:27

I love the caramel wafers! When I was much younger, the wrapper used to say, "more than 1,000,000 of these are made and sold every week", and there was a yellow creamy layer in the centre. Now it's 6,000,000 but no yellow layer Sad

Think they're called caramel logs.

KittenKong · 22/10/2021 20:32

It used to say it on the vans too!

MrsTerryPratchett · 22/10/2021 20:32

I hate you all.

Tunnocks are KERT keto exclusionary radical teacakes.

I want one

Tempusfudgeit · 22/10/2021 20:37

I cleared the shelf in my local shop after reading the story. Tunnock's teacakes ... mmm!

Scraggythang · 22/10/2021 20:56

Duly noted.

I mean, the name is shit (literally) but I shall overlook that.
