She says:

I’m taking the OU to court for failing to protect me from being harassed for gender critical beliefs. We need to stop this happening to any other academics.

Have dug but pretty peed that she’s not getting financial support through her union. Although not surprised. Assuming she’s in a Union of course.

I hope the speed at which this crowdfunder is whizzing along will start to tell those in power who have not yet started listening that enormous numbers of people are seriously cheesed off with the treatment of women at work and elsewhere and we won't put up with any further attempts to silence us.

Employers and service providers who don't get this sorted out will be sued. If not now then soon. If they're determined to dig their heels in and listen to Stonewall-law and not the real variety then they better start putting funds aside to pay their lawyers.

For anyone in Jo's position who needs support women (and men) are clearly there in large enough numbers to provide the funds for legal backing. I am only sorry that women (and some men, like the Cambridge Uni porter) are being put through the wringer to make our legal points.

Can someone dm me the digging link?

And lets not forget Raquel Rosario Sanchez who Kathleen Stock rightly reminded us of this morning. RRS is gardening too re Bullying and Harassment Enabled by Bristol University.

These two cases (hers and Jo's) could be huge for women students and academics.

What amazes me though is that Kathleen Stock has the mental space and emotional energy after all she's been through, and is still going through, to support others like Jo and Raquel as she has this morning on twitter. Brave woman.

BeBraverToday · 17/10/2021 14:16

I have also dug for this. Dreadful treatment of yet another woman in academia.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 17/10/2021 14:16

£25,000 in 4? hours. And countless comments from women and men horrified at the OU's behaviour.

Dug. Any chance of bringing in those spineless Union arseholes as co-respondents?

Three0fivepointfour · 17/10/2021 15:09

Great idea Tea.

AlwaysColdHands · 17/10/2021 15:17

I have contacted the union branches at both of the HE institutions where I am employed and asked for their view on Stock and Phoenix. And pointed out how much they need support for the upcoming ballot

Fleecing union subs from members under false pretences - and then bullying them on top of it.

I've been out all day to return to another woman smashing a fundraising target and yet another lecture about how women should spend their own money.

Donated, for her and for freedom of thought/speech.

Googling 'Jo Phoenix Crowdjustice' was successful for me.

Alternatively, it's titled "Harassed, silenced & compared to a racist for my gender critical views" and under the Equality tag on the Crowdjustice site.

BlueberryCheezecake · 17/10/2021 17:40

She shouldn't be personally bullied but many of these examples sound like she simply wants to prevent her colleagues from disagreeing with her views, which is not reasonable. They have as much right to express disagreement and even condemnation of gender critical views as she has to express her beliefs. Freedom of speech works both ways.

Signalbox · 17/10/2021 17:52

It’s so heartening how much public support these crowd funds get. I keep thinking that people will start to get funding fatigue but the support seems to increase every time.

yourhairiswinterfire · 17/10/2021 18:00

I don't imagine grown adults develop PTSD because someone disagrees with them.

They have as much right to express disagreement and even condemnation of gender critical views as she has to express her beliefs. Freedom of speech works both ways.

Yes, but 'manifestation', right? Harassment and bullying isn't the way to disagree with someone.

I fully expected to be scolded for incorrectly spending my money as I see fit, and I was not disappointed Grin

If there’s no case to answer, then it will be a short case. In terms of it being a “grift”, given that crowdjustice pays funds raised directly to the lawyers, it’s an odd way to go about it.

Why tell the truth when misrepresentation is so much more fun, though, eh?

teawamutu · 17/10/2021 18:25

Nearly 33k spadefuls in less than one day. The momentum's definitely ramping up.

Shedbuilder · 17/10/2021 18:33

Yeas, it feels as if the tide is really turning.

Alektopteryx · 17/10/2021 19:04

I think there has been an enormous underestimate of just how cross many people have become with the top-down imposition of this anti-reality, anti-women, anti-LGB ideology. There is definitely a shift in mood and a gathering of momentum now.

Every single episode of madness is causing more people to sit up. Events like the Labour party conference did a huge amount for the GC cause. The Dentons advice was right; do it all on the sly and under the cover of the LGB.

SpindelWhorl · 17/10/2021 19:20

Indeed, the sunlight on this shows how deranged it all is, and I thank MN a hell of a lot for that.

FortunesFavour · 17/10/2021 19:28

Yes indeed. It was mumsnet that opened my eyes a couple of years ago thanks to the brilliant posters on here. No wonder they hate it here so much, all that pesky truth from all these hysterical women no less. The horror!-
