This sounds interesting.

A special ‘Nolan Investigates’ podcast drops tomorrow afternoon on @BBCSounds. An 18 month investigation into the influence of a lobby group on public bodies throughout the UK. More details in the morning

It seems to be about Stonewall.

Anyone know more about it?

There is some chatter about it on Twitter.

twitter.com/janeclarejones/status/1448205588253618176?s=21

(Tweet from JCJ says:

Okay, at last, here it is.

The BBC Ulster documentary on the influence of Stonewall on public life in the UK.

Many GC women have been interviewed for this.

Let's take the lid off this thing shall we?

Meanwhile whilst LOJ is railing. My teenagers are clapping.

BaronMunchausen · 13/10/2021 23:59

I had to stop and draw breath after the Owen Hurcum episode. I got what they were doing, letting him talk absolute (non-binary) bollocks, but it was just too too much. The exposure of Ben Cohen was more concise.

Placemarking

FlibbertyGiblets · 14/10/2021 00:12

And me, Datun.

Datun · 14/10/2021 00:28

I'm in the middle of episode two. Where they have discovered stonewalls Ponzi scheme. We created a league table for you to climb up and when we find you wanting, we will sell you training to get you further up.

MonsignorMirth · 14/10/2021 00:38

Must listen tomorrow!

I have been informed that Barbie Kardashian and the other male is kept permanently away from women in limerick women's prison

Mollyollydolly · 14/10/2021 00:41

Cant believe Stonewall got organisations to sign a non disclosure agreement. Explains a lot of the FOI responses. More front than Blackpool.

Helleofabore · 14/10/2021 00:43

I am just home from work and I am sooo looking forward to seeing this!!!

You all have made it sound bloody brilliant!

Episode 7 Cohen on Stonewall and the law. Absolute magic.

ChoosandChipsandSealingWax · 14/10/2021 00:53

Likewise! Cannot wait to listen!

“ You must know how to be impartial, BBC tells applicants for top news job
New executive will replace £342,000-a-year Fran Unsworth, with neutrality ‘mission critical’ if the corporation is to maintain public trust”

More sunlight/hope????

At the Tory conference the PMs wife was wheeled out to say some vague stuff which lacked any sort of noun and could have been interpreted as being supportive of conflicting viewpoints. PMs wife is, obviously, not an elected position and so is a fairly unusual and, well, safe.

Meanwhile, the license fee is under threat.

Is it unreasonable that I'm thinking this is a threat to the BBC? "Be neutral, be impartial, or lose your funding". With a bit of public Carrie chat on the side to soften the blow for the BBC employees who have lacked an ability to manage their own bias?

This is a soft launch of a threat "No more CBeebies butterfly shite, it is dangerous and public money won't fund it"

And, so far, I've not heard anything that hasn't been discussed on the Baroness' webinars. There is either politics afoot, or I have been reading too much Private Eye.

Fantastic work, but as your reward, here come the tech support requests!

Episodes 4 and 8 don't work at all for me (downloaded as archive), and I'm seeing quite a lot of other people having at least the same issue with 4.

(Possibly because everyone's so desperate to find out what non-binary is! Are you trolling?)

BettyFilous · 14/10/2021 06:19

Interesting point. While the TRAs have made all the running so far in keeping with Dentons, there’s no reason why GC campaigners and free speech advocates cannot run their own multi-pronged campaign. The key difference is that the Baroness and all the key GC interest groups are very open and transparent, running public events which are open to all and engaging the public, rather than operating within the framework of that grubby, shady Dentons document.

bellinisurge · 14/10/2021 07:24

Wonder what's going on in the bunker. They must have known this was coming.

bellinisurge · 14/10/2021 07:26

NDAs are worth Jack Shit in FOI. The public interest element in the confidentiality exemption puts paid to that. Even as a reverse public interest test (which it is).

MrGHardy · 14/10/2021 07:41

Episode 9 says it all. "Was the regulator to keen to please a lobby group".

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 14/10/2021 07:52

I think Nolan has said the episodes should be available outside the UK in the next few days.

Fantastic. Thank you from those of us without TV licences!

Jaysmith71 · 14/10/2021 08:03

Morning All.

I'll get to work on the dodgy episodes.

Thingybob · 14/10/2021 08:13

I loved episode 4 and it's perfect for sharing with family and friends new to the debate who don't want to get bogged down with anything too heavy.

Jaysmith71 · 14/10/2021 08:16

OK All

I've fixed Episodes 4 & 8, tested and working.
