This sounds interesting.

A special ‘Nolan Investigates’ podcast drops tomorrow afternoon on @BBCSounds. An 18 month investigation into the influence of a lobby group on public bodies throughout the UK. More details in the morning

It seems to be about Stonewall.

Anyone know more about it?

There is some chatter about it on Twitter.

(Tweet from JCJ says:

Okay, at last, here it is.

The BBC Ulster documentary on the influence of Stonewall on public life in the UK.

Many GC women have been interviewed for this.

Let's take the lid off this thing shall we?

Episode 4 was just ridiculous. Me, me me, me me, oh, and I don't really know what I'm talking about. I would be embarrassed if that was the elected representative of my town.

Episode 5 with Dr Bell is fantastic. Nolan is playing Devil's advocate, and Bell is answering each and every question with a depth of knowledge, clarity and compassion that is making me tear up.

nauticant · 14/10/2021 08:23

Episode 4 was a perfect lead in to this conclusion: have whatever self-declared identities you want, no matter how undefinable they are, no matter how unable you are to explain what they mean, but they should have no relevance at all to how our institutions and our legal system work.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 14/10/2021 08:55

I'm relying on the captions rather than the voices but Episode 4 (NB identity) doesn't come across in the way that it seems to do to those of you listening to it.

OvaHere · 14/10/2021 08:57

Listening to Ep 5 this morning. I'm glad Dr Bell is challenging the concept of 'trans children'. Labelling children, some as young as 2 or 3 years old, as 'trans' has been a huge misstep in putting their best interests first.

SulisMinerva · 14/10/2021 09:07

Just got to the end of episode 3 - he’s asking all the important questions about how a lobby group has had such an influence on public bodies.

chilling19 · 14/10/2021 09:14

Listening now. Very critical of BBC.

Whatwouldscullydo · 14/10/2021 09:16

I just finished episode 4. I'm.still non the wider as to what they want legislated when there's no definition of what any of it is and its apparently different for everyone Confused

KittenKong · 14/10/2021 09:20

Oh lord listening to is...

Brass Eye! It’s bloody Brass Eye!!!! Cake!

nauticant · 14/10/2021 09:21

They don't know either. What they want is to be able to demand X and when someone says "well, no one else gets that, what's the basis?", the answer is "I have a non-binary identity so I must be given what I want".

Ereshkigalangcleg · 14/10/2021 09:24

I've been very very busy this week but planning to binge this over the next few days.

Fariha31 · 14/10/2021 09:26

@nauticant

The clearest example I know of that "no evidence" is untrue is women's prisons in Canada. Which is why so many people there are engaged in suppressing the news of what's going on.
Oh God, I don't want to ask this as the horror stories are so distressing, but I think its important that everyones sees exactly what this new religion means for women. Can you put up some links? I know there is a media blackout, but do you have any info on whats going on there that you can share?
SchadenfreudePersonified · 14/10/2021 09:28

It's excellent

10 episodes, but you can stream them.

It should be made compulsory listening - people from both sides give their views, and the contrast between those like Ben Cohen (frankly embarrassing he is so stupid) and One Hurcum ("Govt need to legislate for us poor bi's - no I can't define "bi", it means different things to different people, but the govt needs to just do it and legislate for us"), and Dr David Bell, (formerly of the Tavistock) - intelligent, precise, professional, open, articulate - is so revealing.

Nolan pretty much lets people speak - when they condemn themselves, they do so out of their own mouths. It's also significant that many organisations - including government ones, and Stonewall - declined to take part in the discussions.

This is shining a light not only on the trans issue, but on the inherent dangers of ANY lobby group getting a foothold in what should be neutral organisations. The whole situation needs to be examined and safeguards put in place to prevent undue influence from ANY quarter..

SchadenfreudePersonified · 14/10/2021 09:29

*Owen Hurcum, not One - sorry

Fariha31 · 14/10/2021 09:31

@Ambersand

I have been informed that Barbie Kardashian and the other male is kept permanently away from women in limerick women's prison
Informed by who? kept away from women prisoners and staff? or just prisoners? and is that just at night like in the UK? or permantly away all the time?

Bell is bliddy fantastic, isn't he?

So clear, honest and open; unfailingly courteous; very fair and balanced; admits where there are areas he may not know everything about; emphasises the need to wait-and-see because a) most children ultimately become content with their birth sex, and b) (important) pushing the trans agenda means that the underlying problems a child is experiencing (and in his profession view, based on his experience in the field, there is INVARIABLY an underlying problem) - these problems are not addressed. Ever. They are swept under the 'trans" carpet and will remain and continue to psychologically affect that child.

I'm a little bit in love.

nauticant · 14/10/2021 09:37

The information available is piecemeal Fariha31 because the media don't want to investigate but this is a good indicator of what's happening on the ground:

That was 2 years ago. There's been no indication that the Canadian authorities have increased safeguarding for women prisoners since that time.

There are also these testimonies:

Thank you.

The non-binary mayor said ‘there have been no problems in any countries that have self-ID as law’ - I do hope this question is put to someone who has seen the evidence in another episode

NecessaryScene · 14/10/2021 09:51

Bell is bliddy fantastic, isn't he?

If you want to see more of him, check out the documentary on YouTube. Quite a lot of him in there, and I don't think it's got enough attention.

OvaHere · 14/10/2021 09:53

@GrandmaMazur

The non-binary mayor said ‘there have been no problems in any countries that have self-ID as law’ - I do hope this question is put to someone who has seen the evidence in another episode
It's so frustrating when people trot this out unchallenged because it's just not true.
OvaHere · 14/10/2021 09:55

Of course it might seem true to people who don't consider negative things happening to women and girls as a problem.

KittenKong · 14/10/2021 09:56

People must be challenged to show evidence. I am fed up with wee numpties being given positions, platforms and voices to spout utter nonsense, purely on the basis of their ‘identity’

OldCrone · 14/10/2021 09:57

@GrandmaMazur

The non-binary mayor said ‘there have been no problems in any countries that have self-ID as law’ - I do hope this question is put to someone who has seen the evidence in another episode
Although this is obviously only an opinion, since it was an interviewee who said this, there should have been a clarification in the same podcast that this is not actually true. Many people listening might believe this is true if they aren't well informed about this issue.
bellinisurge · 14/10/2021 10:11

Saying "I am Non-Binary" is code for "I am a Self-Obsessed Bore"
