This sounds interesting.

A special ‘Nolan Investigates’ podcast drops tomorrow afternoon on @BBCSounds. An 18 month investigation into the influence of a lobby group on public bodies throughout the UK. More details in the morning

It seems to be about Stonewall.

Anyone know more about it?

There is some chatter about it on Twitter.

(Tweet from JCJ says:

Okay, at last, here it is.

The BBC Ulster documentary on the influence of Stonewall on public life in the UK.

Many GC women have been interviewed for this.

Let's take the lid off this thing shall we?

The self-ID episode has Nolan on his exercise machine in his weight loss struggle. Now what should be happening here is Thompson asking the question: "Why bother with all this painful exercise? Instead, just self-identify as being 11 stone."

Was bbc or stonewall who wouldn’t answer 50 questions?

It was Stonewall.

I am enjoying this so much. Benjamin Cohen being asked "what does 2 spirit actually mean?" and being clueless is a real highlight.

Let's hope this gets plenty of coverage and puts some courage into other journalists

Good bit about Wi Spa in ep 3, and now onto Laurel Hubbard.

This is the first time I have listened to a BBC podcast, I wonder if their listener numbers will be higher (not just because of me!)

They've arrived at the key point: If none of this stuff actually means anything then crack on yourself but keep it away from being used in practice.

Wine on episode 2. And Julie Bindel on zoom in 10. Shit where do I go. Am riveted here.

I haven’t listened yet but didn’t have high hopes as every time I have heard speak on this issue he has to my mind been firmly in the pro self ID / anti women camp. Wonder what has made him change his mind?

I've just got that bit, and am enjoying it a lot Grin

I have to listen to this asap. Is there any episode that covers the NHS? Our trust is trying to force participation in the stonewall d&I questionnaire/survey. I briefly flicked through it- all about gender but nowhere to put your biological sex which surely renders any data collected totally moot. By that I mean that if twaw/tmam and identify that as their gender and then whatever their sexuality is then what relevance is the data to see if the organisation is discriminating against trans people? I can't believe my trust is wasting time on this when we have a MASSIVE ongoing investigation about proven racism within certain sites and departments and we're pissing around collecting data to get a sticker that tells you nothing.

Just give me a sense of what it [two-spirit] means?...

BC: Ah, err, it's how they're describing themselves.

I have a feeling that quite a lot of organisations will be questioning their relationship with Stonewall tomorrow morning. The podcast covers an awful lot of what we've been saying on here for years. With a bit of luck there'll be headlines and a lot of back-tracking.

Anyone going to point their headteachers in the direction of these tomorrow?

I wish they'd grasp another basic point. Putting to one side that there are 2 sexes, when you look at gender identity, and if you believe they exist, then there is no limit to the number there might be, in the same way that there is no limit to the number of personalities there might be.

Listening now - this is so clearly explained. No debate means nothing can be scrutinised.

Mayor Owen Hurcum now on making an utter fool of themselves.

How an earth did Nolan and his team get all these people to speak to them in such a revealing way?

I hope it gets wider coverage. Radio maybe? A TV doc would be good.

Listening to ep 2.

Marking homework as could do better then at the bottom of each page flogging expensive tickets so they can do better next time. Hmm

Not very far removed from a ponzi scheme set up, as we've said on here for a long time.

I'd guess it's a combination of it being the BBC and not a known GC reporter, and people like Owen being so completely sure that they are right.

At what age Mayor Owen Hurcum did you realise you were non-binary?

5 or 6 played dress up. At 12 he realised something uncomprehensible but it sounds like their self-identity is mixed up with their sexuality, "attracted to people of all genders". "The euphoria I feel when I mess around with those gender stereotypes."

Report
nauticant · 13/10/2021 20:13

Hang on, apparently now Hurcum "identifies as transsexual".

I've been thinking about what you said:do you think he was just hiding his views to not "scare the horses",which then, along with the image of the BBC's views, gave his interviewees a false sense if security?that they wouldn't be questioned?
