Just a local London story. Far less interest than Sarah Everard, also in London. Far less interest than Gabby Petito thousands of miles away.

Now whatever is it about Sabina Nesser that provokes this apathy???

And the coverage has stepped up today, one week after the murder.

No it hasn't. Coverage has been wode spread for days. It wasn't at first because 4 people, 3 of whom are children, were murdered the same weekend.

As news goes, that is the bigger story. That story has died down, news wise, because they have the suspect in custody.

You were claiming this morning it was a local London story this morning. Despite the fact that its been covered on the news and in papers every day since it happened.

I knew about a vigil being planned 3 days ago. I live in Yorkshire, it was on the main 6pm news.

The fact that you didn't notice it, doesn't mean it wasn't covered.

Again, back to my point earlier, do you get bothered by women (of all colours) taht are murdered outside London that get little to no coverage?

I'm Asian and I'm very disappointed with the coverage this has been given, I only heard about it yesterday night. Lets not act brand new, we know black and Asian women who go missing and murdered are less reported in the media and we all know it's because of racism.

I don't want a single white woman talking to me about it's being reported and it's not about racism when SO many Asian and black women have said it's not enough. Not everything is about YOU

nyktipolos · 23/09/2021 19:24

@PizzaAndCake pipe down and check my posting history. I am from the Asian community. So who is the YOU you are talking about?

And no white woman is talking directly to you. They have posted on a thread.

I heard of it at the back end of the weekend/early Monday. The fact that you haven't isnt a reflection on anything, except you weren't paying attention to the news, which is fine. But you can't then complain you not knowing means no one cared.

The op thinks it was still a London story and not mainstream this morning. She is wrong as well.

But people from all around the UK knew, people from other countries knew days before this morning. So not a local story, some people just seem to have missed it.

It was Monday on the lunchtime news that they were talking to locals who said there was a vigil in the planning.

But OK, you missed it, which means everyone else who has seen it must be making it up. It's actually not about you. You not seeing something, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

EvilPea · 23/09/2021 19:27

I think it fell down the news a bit when it was initially reported as the police had someone in custody. It’s certainly ramped up the headlines now, as it should have been.

Needmoresleep · 23/09/2021 19:39

The Mail have been covering it well, with regular updates and reporting on various things politicians have been saying.

Hard to miss, I would have thought.

But then the Mail has been good on a range of women’s issues.

Lots of white women have posted about race baiting and about how lack of coverage isn't about racism, but no one asked them if it was.

I said it was race baiting. Not a white woman.

This thread is because the op is out and out lying. She posted this morning it was news only in London. Despite the fact that I had had the news on since 5am and seen lots about it several times. I don't live neat London.

I saw it yesterday and Monday on the main news. No one can answer why you didn't see it.

And don't quote me, and then misrepresent it. I said you weren't paying attention. And since it's been on the main news since Monday, if you watched the news and missed it.....you weren't paying attention.

Now you are saying that a it wasn't in the news because you and your friends didn't see it? Ah well, I must be making it up. They were interviewing women on Monday in the local area. Women weren't talking a out a vigil....All because your friends didn't see it

You seem to keep going into threads about race and start talking about race baiting, do you have some sort of problem with people discussing race? A very weird thing for a supposed Asian to be talking about

What are you saying? That I don't act Asian enough? Priti Patel?

I am on 2 threads. This one where pp is lying. And another where people can't even be arsed to get name or ethnicity correct. And we are suppose to believe this is about caring about her or WoC?

Oddly, all Asians don't think the same. We don't all believe the same.

But it's absolutely disgusting that you think it's OK to post these things because some disagrees with you

It also shows your lack of ability to form an argument. Its also Racist to imply because someone doesn't agree, they can't aren't 'Asian/black etc enough'. Its so wrong.

XiXimXerJingping · 23/09/2021 19:57

Here to support the posters saying it has been on the news for days. I'm not sure why other pp's don't believe you.

I'm so angry and saddened that yet another woman has lost her life to male violence.

Akire · 23/09/2021 20:05

I was disappointed that police spokesman today basically said it’s safe and police here for the community. I know if they say it’s not safe, stay in women it looks bad but the streets are not safe. Certainly not when killer is freely walking around. For Every women who says I’m not walking through dark park there is one thinking we’ll police said it’s safe. Really not way to do it.

BelleOfTheProvince · 23/09/2021 20:06

Heard it days ago on the BBC.

KittenKong · 23/09/2021 20:09

How does the police spokesman ‘know’ it’s safe - a supposed stranger (not sure how they know they were a stranger) has murdered a young woman. They don’t know who or why. So how do they know that they aren’t about to do it again?

Exactly seem have had the memo DO NOT SAY ITS NOT SAFE under any circumstance.
rexanonymous · 23/09/2021 20:18

OP, I agree not seen anything about this until I saw Sabina trending on twitter this morning and I live in London! But I can already see this thread descending into nonsense. I don't think there's much point in discussing race on Mumsnet, it goes absolutely nowhere.

Better off discussing grammar schools and JK Rowling

HereticFanjo · 23/09/2021 20:21

Breaking news that a 38 year old man has been arrested for her murder.

nyktipolos · 23/09/2021 20:22

Just because you think it's race baiting doesn't mean it is, many studies have shown the murders of black and Asian women are under reported in the media, how is this race baiting?

I didn't say that was race baiting. I said the op and this thread was. But don't expect you to understand the nuance

And the OP is not not lying, she said it hasn't been widely reported on social media and news, which it hasn't, if it had been I would have heard of it, people I know would have heard of it and the many people who are commenting on this young womans death online would have heard of it much earlier. It's nice that it popped up on the radar of a few of the commenters on here but clearly many people hadn't heard of it because it hasn't been publicised.

It was on all the main news channels on Monday. In the papers on Monday. On the lunchtime and evening news Monday.

Very interesting you come into this thread just like many other women and immediately mention race baiting as if we all don't know the media isn't actively racist. It massively minimises the struggles that black and Asian women go through.

Nope didn't say anything of the sort. I have said on several threads that race will be a factor but not the main factor.

And giving the op is making shit up, I stand by my opinion Op is race baiting. Is that was mn is, people expressing an opinion? Where did I say, because I think its race baiting, everyone has to agree?

Where did I say WoC don't face these issues. Where did I say the media and or police are not biased when it comes to race? That's right, I didn't.

I can also see your past posting history and you've gone into other threads and gone on about race baiting, which leads me to believe you're probably not Asian. Anyone can be anyone online and I refuse to believe an Asian woman could be so heartless towards the death of another Asian woman.

I have been on 2 threads. Just 2 about Sabina and its clear neither rop can even be bothered looking into any detail about her. Posting on 2 threads is 'going on'.

Believing that some posters are using her death, to appear virtuous and show how woke they are or to start a bun fight, is heartless towards Sabina?

Non of its aimed at Sabina, its looking looking the behaviour of some mners who will say anything for some attention.

I believe they are using the death of an Asian woman for their own ends.

If you read my posting history you would see, I have said over and over again the race will be playing a part. Not sure how more clear I can be.

Again, denying someones ethnicity because they don't agree with you, is racist. Saying I have said things I haven't even said, is ridiculous and just shows you have no clue how to form a discussion.

I don't deal with racists. So won't be responding to you further.

I hope her family and school are getting the support they need. Year one are only just aware that death is permanent. The newspapers may be keeping that in mind (I hope) on how and what they report it.
Unfortunately some cases do become engraved on the public consciousness for various reasons. It can't be helpful to healing if your loved one's murder is always dragged up as a comparison.

We can only hope that past mistakes seen in previous cases have led to this swift arrest and hopefully the criminal will be dealt with severely.

Sarah Keith
Julia James
Donna Price
Egle Vendeline
Bethany Vincent
Amanda Selby
Sally Poynton
Phyllis Nelson
Megan Mewborough
Ishrat Ahmed
Eileen Barrott
Terri Harris
Maddie Burdant- Hollamby

There have been lots of murders since Sarah Everard. Those are a few I can remember, some local to me, I’m certain there have been many more I can’t recall or have not heard about. I didn’t see any vigils for anyone but Sarah Everard and now, Sabina Nessa.

Perhaps it is to do with their youth and beauty?

Abigail12345654321 · 23/09/2021 21:15

I’ve been seeing this terrible murder reported on my news feed for days; where is everyone else looking for their news if not the headlines?!?

Cos everyone so angry and upset about women getting murdered. Only when young and only when not domestic violence. So people don't really give a shit about women being murdered.

Be vigils nearly everyday if people cared really cared about women being murdered cos women murdered nearly everyday but they don't matter to most people cos older or domestic violence or both. Cheap to do vigils and be outraged on media but costs money to really help women and stop them being murdered and no enough people really care about stopping women being murdered.

People saying about women not safe on streets but is rubbish cos most women murdered at home and it's so many several a week and then more cos of the suicides caused by domestic violence and early death cos of bad health caused by it.

Safe homes and good domestic violence support no postcode lottery is what needed more than safe streets cos streets are safer for women than homes but people don't really give a shit.

nosafeguardingadults · 23/09/2021 21:49

People think anyone gives a shit about London women being murdered is wrong. Domestic abuse support in London is shit. Example is Victim Support is 2 month wait. So women have more violence and maybe get murdered cos waiting months for help.

weakers · 23/09/2021 22:44

Seems a lot of people here deliberately trying to cause racial tension pretending her murder has been kept in the dark because she's not white, when truth is its been headline news and front page media all over the UK...sad people
