India Willoughby being vile about Julia HB

BewaretheIckabog · 20/09/2021 21:54

India Willoughby used to be a trans person I tried to listen to although I thought she was always obsessed by how feminine she looked and how well she passed. She seemed to think she was not just better at being a woman than other trans people but also most women to.

Now attacking JHB on Twitter as looking more manly than her. It’s hardly the BeKind, be a good, little lady, be nice to everyone is it?

I can appreciate there would be some envy on a career / journalistic level but IW comes across as a thoroughly unpleasant person.

Julia's not rattled. And India is getting wrecked in the replies. What a stupid thing to do. And that photo that India has posted of themselves is quite obviously filtered to all heck.

I think JHB is an excellent broadcaster. Consistently.

OhWhyNot · 21/09/2021 10:17

I love Julia not accepting cis she is absolutely correct.

There is no need to add to woman we all know what the word means we are female unless you are a male who presents as a women because you are not a woman you are a trans women

4.30 in this clip is what I always think of when I see India Willoughby mentioned. Imagine thinking "poor men" should be the focus in this discussion.

terryleather · 21/09/2021 10:37

"Look look look, I am so much more of a woman than that actual woman!"

Maybe not such a smart idea to get folks to look too closely, eh India...

When I think of IW I see them shouting right in the face of 81 year old Amanda Barrie on Big Brother, because Amanda mistakingly “misgendered” them.

I also remember India lost their job with Channel 5 news after BB. So we aren’t the only ones who feel IW is not a very nice person.

OhWhyNot · 21/09/2021 13:40

One thing I notice with so many trans women is what they don’t leave behind once they become women is their male entitlement that they should be thought of first

The reason they have a platform and a powerful voice is because they are male. No trans man has such a platform

They don’t recognise that this has been bestowed on them because they were born with a penis

I don’t doubt they have been victims because they are trans but it’s not the same as what females will go through but so many don’t want to hear our experiences just for us to accept theirs (something females have had to do throughout time and conditioned to)

IW shows this perfectly when discussing women’s refuges

OneEpisode · 21/09/2021 18:01

Can I give this another bump? That video Ghosts posted at 10:18. Watch to the end.
I do feel sorry for lots of individual men. Bad things happen to individual men.
But India is reading a women’s rape crisis centre’s website and as a result feels sorry for the men?
There is a religious view that women only exist as support for men. India is doing that really well.

NewMutiny · 21/09/2021 18:08

I don't even get Willoughby's point. Julia looks completely female in that photo and every other photo I have ever seen of her. How is that photo a 'gotcha'? Confused

NewMutiny · 21/09/2021 18:11

Actually it's just the SM equivalent of a drunk man shouting, 'I wouldn't fuck you anyway you ugly cow!' at you in the street after you've told them where to stick their clumsy proposition/sexual harassment isn't it? Nothing more complex than that.

Socialisation eh? It's a bugger to shake off.

Onyernelly · 21/09/2021 18:23

I saw IW once in topshop - she was extremely volatile and confrontational.
She strutted up and down the dressing room staring down the various women and swanning about in everyone’s space.
I got the impression we were supposed to be in awe of her fabulousness.
It appeared she was salivating at the possibility of getting in someone’s face

Terrible person.

OhHolyJesus · 21/09/2021 18:51

Here is IW comparing radical feminists to incels.

India doesn't sound like a nice person.

PandorasMailbox · 21/09/2021 19:08

@MiladyBerserko

If there is going to be a battle of wits, my money's firmly on Julia.

Plus, popcorn.

It won't be much of a battle as IW doesn't seem to have a lot of ammo and can't shoot straight.

No….not the best idea
OhDear2200 · 21/09/2021 19:23

Does IW just not get it? It makes me laugh that India believes to know what makes a woman.

My friend has just given birth. My DH and I were remembering the first days/weeks following the birth of our child. His memories were very different from mine. Do you know why? Because I remember it with a physical memory. A physical memory that no man on this Earth, trans or not, can EVER experience. This example applies to all of human life. It works both ways, I will never know the annoyance of having itchy balls for example Hmm

OhDear2200 · 21/09/2021 19:23

Having shaved legs does not make you a woman.

somethinginoffensive · 21/09/2021 19:26

Does IW just not get it? It makes me laugh that India believes to know what makes a woman.

Not a single man who understands what it actually is to be a woman would ever claim to be one.

So no, india doesn't get it.

beastlyslumber · 21/09/2021 19:33

I love JHB. She's a brilliant broadcaster, and a great example of a woman using her voice in a powerful way. She's never fallen for any of the twaw shite and also I slightly fancy her.

IsAnybodyListening · 21/09/2021 19:34

R0wantrees in your post re IW Last week was my first ever visit to Mumsnet. Honestly, I thought it was going to be lots of stuff about prams, or family-related matters

Poor India. I can imagine men would assume a successful site with predominately female users all over the world, from a range of backgrounds would only be nattering about prams and family. I mean, the rest of our heads are filled with fluff and bubble-gum.

OhDear2200 · 21/09/2021 19:43

@IsAnybodyListening again it makes me laugh that India assumes that talking about ‘prams and family matters’ is somehow a soft non political subjects. Again showing such lack of awareness of women’s experiences.

A good pram provides new mother’s (and fathers but I’m going to focus on women) freedom. That freedom is a sanity saver when you are a new parent. It supports women’s mental health. It may also support their physical health if they have suffered trauma following birth.

Again India’s lack of knowledge of what is important to women because India is not a woman results in ignorant comments.

OhDear2200 · 21/09/2021 19:44

Sorry lots of agains there! IW has made me angry. Going to make a brew Brew

MLMbotsno · 21/09/2021 19:52

@Kendodd

I dread to think what IW would make of me. Short hair, no make up, hairy legs. And 100% woman.
Love it.

But at least you are a real woman not one that pretends to be because bits have been hacked off.

MLMbotsno · 21/09/2021 19:59

@Suzysunflower

I had my first post deleted ever! Shock Hmm Confused
Real woman are not allowed to say no to trans women demanding our safe spaces, not allowed to express our concerns of safety - it's very sad.
