Sunday 19th Sept 925am.
He won't answer the question. Andrew Marr keeps pushing.

Women’s prisons aren’t designed to house the category and number of male prisoners who would have the right to be rehoused on the basis of self ID.

Imagine all the new women's prisons that would need to be built. Not great for the NIMBY party. Or could we repurpose the men's prisons once they empty out due to prisoners identifying into the female estate? Does there need to be a certain percentage of actual female prisoners in each one for validation purposes? They'd have to spread the female prisoners out across the country to achieve that, wouldn't they?

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 19/09/2021 18:29

The Lib Dem leader blaming the toxicity of the trans debate on Boris Johnson? The man's delusional. I blame Johnson for very many things, most of them serious. But not the attack on women's rights.

The liberal and leftish parties own that one. The Gender Recognition Act which Tony Blair slipped through in 2004, while everyone's attention was on the invasion of Iraq undermined our once-unquestioned right to single-sex spaces and services. And transactivists, in those parties and in organisations across the UK, have been quietly pushing that agenda since then.

The Tories, along with the Social Democrats and the Communist Party, are among the few who actually acknowledge women's rights.

@Passmeamenuatthetottenham

Ed Davey doesn't believe that TWAW for a single fucking second. It's written all over his face, I was cringing for him in that interview.
I think he just didn't want any time being spent giving a sh1t about women. No gaps for any consideration of the safeguards being taken away from women and girls.

He was asked what was wrong about woman as the definition for an adult human female. F*ck that, he wanted to talk about the important people in his eyes (maybe party donor eyes too). Males, or transwomen.

He just didn't want to waste any breath on looking at the impact on his ideological belief on women. So, squirrel, squirrel, squirrel.

Who could forsee what a party for creepy, slime balls the Lib Dems would end up as. I have voted for them in the past. Strategically, but still a vote. Wouldn't ever get and X from me again. Even if I have to give it to Ms Buckethead or similar.

Cailleach1 · 19/09/2021 20:05

Is Davy cross that the dirty, back room deal didn't sneakily go ahead for secret wrt GRA self ID? Is Liz Truss as women and equality appointment what he is cross about? The furtive agenda being given sunlight.

endofthelinefinally · 19/09/2021 20:07

We all need to write to our MPs and ask them if they watched the interview. It might give them pause for thought.

teawamutu · 19/09/2021 20:12

@FlyingOink

This is probably the most serious threat to women in the UK in over a century.

I agree with this and have become a single-issue voter as a result. Whichever party opposes genderism will get my vote.

Simply because any other damaging policies are easier to undo afterwards than this will be. And I say that as someone who was vehemently anti-Tory for most of her life. If the Conservative Party is the only one that will guarantee that women will continue to exist in law separate from men with genderfeels, then I will vote for them.

This is me, now. I hate that this is where I am.
Feelingoktoday · 19/09/2021 20:16

The interview was a little like the silly bingo game we sometimes play in meetings - see if He could keep saying say gender, trans gender, trans women etc.

Thank you for the transcript Cake
Just remembered when Ed Davey showed his contempt of women in the House of Commons and terfed turfed Joanna Cherry out of her seat because he's a bully and she holds GC views. His anti-woman activism is long-standing twitter.com/leakylike/status/1407681062617112585?s=20
Wow, @Alekto what a difference to that interview on LBC and today's on Andrew Marr's programme. Back in July 2020 he was forthright and confident in his assertion that transwomen were women. Today however, he had to be dragged kicking and screaming to admit it.

morningtoncrescent62 · 19/09/2021 21:28

GC twitter has been a joy today. This thread from Labour Women's Declaration was posted in (almost) real time this morning:

They posted another one later in the day that made my heart sing! #DontBeADavy:

And one by an academic trans activist had brilliant responses from women and a few men who know what a woman is:

Most trans women I talk to identify readily as adult human females, and transmen as adult human males. So I don't really see the issue, other than it being a dog whistle for attempted crass segregation.

Are these people sexually active? If so, you need to have a word and work out whether they're lying or very confused.

Otherwise some of them (we can't say which ones) might end up on reddit, unsure if they could be pregnant...

I wonder whether there is a pattern to what kind of human is affected by unplanned pregnancy...

Thanks for the links. I’ve donated to the crowdfunder for Natalie Bird in the second one.

I'm sorry, but it's too early in the morning for that. A 'cis' woman with a girlfriend who has a penis now worrying as she might be pregnant. Can someone explain that please?
Helleofabore · 20/09/2021 05:51

I wonder whether there is a pattern to what kind of human is affected by unplanned pregnancy...

FFS. Researchers have reported that ‘feminizing’ hormone cocktails are unreliable for testosterone suppression. So, it seems misinformation is running riot.

Yes, Mishy, not acknowledging the reality of their sex and their medical choices can have significantly negative affect on others. Whoodathunkit?

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 20/09/2021 05:59

Reddit OP seems to have convinced herself, or been convinced, that if her male partner was on cross-sex-hormones, said male wouldn't be producing sperm any more. I bet there is a lot of cognitive dissonance in there, and, crucially, not a clear enough grasp of biology in the first place to work through this muddying of terminology. I think the time for frantic googling was before they stopped using condoms, not now...

As it is, if the hormonal treatment being used doesn't destroy her partner's libido or ability to have an erection (hence the mention of the condoms they're not using), I wouldn't assume for a moment that it effectively stopped his testicles producing sperm. Not when it was my body that would suffer if I assumed wrongly.

Sorry I meant the reddit article / problem.

DickKerrLadies · 20/09/2021 07:28

That reddit thread is interesting.

At least one person is trying to say that no-one is actually really denying that transwomen are male.

I should direct them to Mishy

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 20/09/2021 07:51

I don't see how you can realistically say one way or the other. Given that

 1. Mishy on this forum insists on this and other threads that transwomen are female and transmen are male, and ,
 2. that I have seen many trans activists say that transwomen are "endocrinologically identical to cis women"/"have the same hormonal profile as cis women", I find it very plausible it's for real.

I really can believe that there are people out there thinking that a male on cross-sex hormones can't produce sperm. About 15 years ago, there was an urban myth going around that rapists were using a horse drug to spike women's drinks in bars and one dose of this drug sterilised women for life. (If it was that simple to sterilise yourself, childfree by choice women would have been dosing themselves with this horse anaethestic, instead of fruitlessly petitioning GPs for tubal ligations!) I got tagged in the chain messages for it by a friend from school who genuinely believed it all.

Helleofabore · 20/09/2021 08:34

Yes. I would not be proudly stating that me and my mates fully believed that people can miraculously change sex. Like that was a harmless action, presented as a template for righteousness.

Maybe it shows that some people lack the maturity, as well as the ability, to accurately assess the risk of their actions to other people. For whatever reason, selfish or not.

But you know … ‘be kind’ obviously cannot possibly cause harm to anyone, ever.

All the Reddit poster needs to do is to identify as not pregnant.
