This should allow people to read it. Front page, no less. Starter texting to see if she is OK is not good enough but he doesn't seem to be pulled up on that.

I’m unsurprised that the BBC have somehow managed to forget to feature The Times front page today.

Also unsurprised, and yet continually disappointed by her Labour party colleagues.

One comment that stood out to me was Lisa Nandy, the shadow foreign secretary, said of Duffield: “She has been the victim of the most serious crime imaginable and must be treated with care and respect.”. Rosie’s treatment by her colleagues and generally what she’s been through is truly awful but “the most serious crime imaginable”? Confused I swear Lisa Nancy just spews out whatever she thinks people want to hear at the time.

MishyJDI · 19/09/2021 10:03

Usual Time beat up on trans activists being a threat, when its just rubbish. Even Duffield says it in the article:

"Duffield, who chairs the Women’s Parliamentary Labour Party, took the decision not to attend conference after being advised it was “not a good idea”. She said: “I mainly took the decision not because I really thought I was going to be attacked, but because I did not want to be the centre of attention."

Shame she is not attending, as she would quite rightly be challenged on her exclusionary views. Pity.

I'd that's true why are women receiving death threats?
ScreamingMeMe · 19/09/2021 10:10

Oh, Mishy: 1000s of screenshots of violent threats on twitter, Maria Machalan being attacked, Julie Bindle being neay attacked, TRAs kicking the windows of a women's meeting, porn being posted to JK Rowling and most recently a TRA charging at a woman screaming "Witch! Witch! Witch!" rather prove you wrong.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 19/09/2021 10:14

@MonsignorMirth

Imo Jess gets it, but wants to keep her job, understandably I guess.
I have some sympathy for her avoiding mentioning Duffield by name but the ‘who feels’ is disappointing because it insinuates the threats might not be real and that’s just shockingly unsupportive.
Helleofabore · 19/09/2021 10:14

I think that Mishy often misses evidence that proves them wrong. Just like saying one of the founders of Stonewall did not understand the history of gay rights.

Lottapianos · 19/09/2021 10:17

'What the hell has happened to Keir Starmer? The guy was a public prosecutor - he literally used to confront people for a living.'

Very well said. He's such a bloody disappointment

ScreamingMeMe · 19/09/2021 10:20

A lot of TRA footsoldiers ARE straight white men. Or gay white men. Usually with beards.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 19/09/2021 10:22

I think Keir is one of those ppl who can do confrontation providing there are rules around it & everyone knows what they are & abides by them

He can’t do confrontation with people who refuse to discuss things but just call everyone who disagrees a transphobe & then lodge complaint after complaint against people for being transphobic. It’s exhausting & time consuming (i mean his knows we know that!!!) and I think he just keeps Hoping if he keeps his head down, it’ll go away

It won’t

Passmeamenuatthetottenham · 19/09/2021 10:22

@Lessthanaballpark

The comments are very encouraging and I feel that one silver lining of this whole debate is that it has united men and women in so many ways. Hell! Even Douglas Murray is showing feminist tendencies!

I thought this comment was particularly good:

Also, just as an observation, when women express concerns that they may feel unsafe if male bodied people use their private spaces, issuing rape threats on social media is unlikely to reassure.

I mean what are those TRAs thinking when they send abuse?! That we’re going to think “oh please come into our spaces! You pose no threat whatsoever!”

I think JKR herself made this very point recently didn't she?
RedToothBrush · 19/09/2021 10:26

You mean she's spineless.

We should say it loudly.

Stop being a spineless career obsessive Jess.

Passmeamenuatthetottenham · 19/09/2021 10:28

Great to see this this morning.

The Labour Party is dripping with misogyny isn't it?

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 19/09/2021 10:30

it's really hitting the mainstream now innit?

it's going to take a while for the wheels to fully fall off, but they will

so sorry for what's happening to Rosie, it's shit. I think I'll send her a card. showing some solidarity is the only thing I can think of to thank her for her bravery

3GreenPullups · 19/09/2021 10:34

Thanks for the share token OP.

Imnobody4 · 19/09/2021 10:43

Waternoice
They had the front page on The Papers BBC news last night, I watched the early edition but it wasn't discussed.

Alekto · 19/09/2021 11:22
What I find very odd is that The Sunday Times is not included on this morning’s edition of the online BBC newspaper headlines. It’s always there, Unless I’m very mistaken.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-the-papers-58612636
Just came to say the same thing. It does appear that the BBC has omitted to show The Sunday Times front page because of their ideological capture! Honestly, their anti-women stance disgusts me.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 19/09/2021 11:59

It's as if this issue has allowed all of the misogynists to say "YES!!!!!!!, FINALLY we have permission to hate women".

Lessthanaballpark · 19/09/2021 12:18

Usual Time beat up on trans activists being a threat, when its just rubbish

So, all the threats on terfisaslur.com are just made up then?

You are not wrong Yetanotherspartacus. You are not wrong.
Mummyoflittledragon · 19/09/2021 12:39

Thanks for the share token.

I used to really like Jess Phillips. Now my feelings are mixed. Perhaps she would be less spineless if Kier Starmer showed some balls. Not so sure I’d put myself in the firing line though. She wants good to come of the country.

Didn’t KS pluck a few splinters out of his arse from all the fence sitting by declaring TWAW or did I dream that?

Mummyoflittledragon · 19/09/2021 12:41

@YetAnotherSpartacus

Sad but true. Totally. Which is no debate is awash with MRA’s.
Franca123 · 19/09/2021 13:36

Jess Phillips is a traitor to women. Coward.

Franca123 · 19/09/2021 13:37

Has the Observer even covered this story?

Passmeamenuatthetottenham · 19/09/2021 13:43

@Franca123

Jess Phillips is a traitor to women. Coward.
I think thats a bit harsh. As a woman she also needs to practice self preservation and I get the feeling it's difficult to be a woman in the Labour Party right now.

Rosie Duffield has been a survivor of abuse in the past, she sees straight through the bullshit and the tactics used against her and probably gives less of a fuck.

Helleofabore · 19/09/2021 13:44

Have to laugh at I.Willoughby’s tweet about the front page.

^Take a section of society with zero access to the press. Paint them exclusively as bad. When they respond on their only outlet - Twitter - go to press and say you’re being threatened for preaching how dangerous they are.
The Rosie Duffield story in short @Keir_Starmer^

Ummm… so I.Willoughby is not getting enough press at the moment then? Aww. What a shame.
