See this article in the Guardian:

www.google.ie/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2021/sep/07/judith-butler-interview-gender

One of the questions asked was “ It seems that some within feminist movements are becoming sympathetic to these far-right campaigns. This year’s furore around Wi Spa in Los Angeles saw an online outrage by transphobes followed by bloody protests organised by the Proud Boys. Can we expect this alliance to continue?”.....

Nope.
No thank you.

Cabinfever10 · 07/09/2021 19:41

The word Women should never include anyone except adult human females otherwise it and the entire history of female oppression is erased

littlbrowndog · 07/09/2021 19:42

Who is she speaking to ?

It’s like she’s not aware of how most women live their lives

Just ordinary women living their lives

OhDear2200 · 07/09/2021 19:46

I’m really confused. So by rethinking the category of woman to allow transwomen and men into the category, do we not just erase the category of woman? Those who want to identify as a woman who are biologically not women have erased the very category they want to join?

LumpySpacedPrincess · 07/09/2021 19:51

The wii spa incident that turned out to be true? The bloody protests that saw women harassed and a young man in hospital after an antifa tra stabbed him? What happened to facts? Do they just ignore facts?

PlanDeRaccordement · 07/09/2021 19:54

Funny no one is complaining about the Texas law banning elective abortions after 6 was having as its language “pregnant woman” all through it. They only cry transphobia in language when it’s a perk, never when it’s oppression.

MiladyBerserko · 07/09/2021 20:00

We need to rethink the category of 'academic'

Allies? This has to be one of the dumbest words of recent times.

Anyone telling me I have allies they don't like is automatically without credibility.

tilder · 07/09/2021 20:16

Spelling out a phrase rather than writing the acronym is still offensive. Is that term banned?

EarthSight · 07/09/2021 20:21

It seems that some within feminist movements are becoming sympathetic to these far-right campaigns

You know, I didn't imagine ten years ago that the Guardian would be making a claim like that, demonising feminists and saying ridiculous things like they're sympathetic to far-right campaigns (as if women's rights were now a domain of the far right instead of the left). It's a lie meant to discredit women who are fighting for their own rights.

I thought that was the domain of misogynists, incels and men on the far right who would prefer us to 'stay in the kitchen', as some of them are fond of saying. Clearly the left have abandoned women's rights.

MiladyBerserko · 07/09/2021 20:22

Are you expecting some here to 'identify' with the term which is generally banned on here?

Just read the article and I can't see the question you quoted which mentioned the far right. Can anyone point to it?

Waitwhat23 · 07/09/2021 20:30

I think Catherina thinks she is being clever by leaving out the word radical.

I find it striking that TRA's paint themselves as 'being on the right side of history' but are seemingly happy to align themselves with the incel movement and with sex offenders (Wi Spa incident being one such example). As long as a group hates women, it's cool, right?

EarthSight · 07/09/2021 20:31

This article was edited on 7 September 2021 to reflect developments which occurred after the interview took place

Which edits took place? Did they take out the question you quoted??

lightand · 07/09/2021 20:33

Emperors New Clothes

SuperSleepyBaby · 07/09/2021 20:35

The question I quoted is gone from the article? It was there one hour ago but they edited the article and deleted it? Is that right?

It's striking to me that trans activists align themselves with male sex offenders who bare their penis in places where little girls are.

And then say that little girls are at fault and shouldn't look.

LobsterNapkin · 07/09/2021 20:39

Given the way they have redefined "far-right" to mean bog standard liberal democrats, it's difficult to take her seriously.

By which I mean, more difficult than it already is given the utter bollocks she writes.

SuperSleepyBaby · 07/09/2021 20:40

“ This article was edited on 7 September 2021 to reflect developments which occurred after the interview took place”.

These developments that are not mentioned specifically are actually quite relevant to the whole conversation!

even joyous to see what trans men are doing with the category of “men”.

Doesn't even make any sense

Personally id be joyous to see what transmen are doing with the category of women

And ecstatic to see what transwomen are doing with the category of men

That would make so much more sense than destroying sex based reality

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 07/09/2021 20:45

I really enjoyed that read. I, too, think it is striking how trans exclusionary feminists have few concerns regarding reactionary sources/allies

Do you know many trans exclusionary feminists then?
