Well who went and made me a bloody liar???

Or was that the post that MNHQ had to delete as it was probably defamation etc?

AfternoonToffee · 01/09/2021 15:45

Pumpkin pie being the exception to the rule.

ScreamingMeMe · 01/09/2021 15:47

@SheldonesqueTheBstard

That kind of stellar career progress is just fucking amazing, I'm sure we'd all love to hear how it was achieved

By a sheer strike of luck, I think I know.

They wrote an English - Scottish translation book.

I’m told there is a great demand for them.

#minted

Well even I know it's "wisnae" not "wasnae", so I think they possibly need an editor.
WouldBeGood · 01/09/2021 15:49

Surely the purple shirt thing can’t be true..?!

@MargaritaPie

"Cos I'm sure it's obvious now, even to you, that women won't wheest."

I presume you mean "gender criticals", I've actually seen a lot of them be banned from Twitter. Twitter can make gender criticals who can't follow their rules "wheeshit" Grin

It's quite astounding how those who bleat on about 'be kind' and inclusion and fairness etc etc. throw that all out the window when it comes to people that don't agree with them. So... fairness, inclusion is only reserved for the 'right' kind of people. And the 'wrong' kind of people can be justifiably persecuted and excluded in all sorts of ways by those who happily see themselves as moral crusaders.

There is nothing inclusive about banning people from Twitter because you don't like what they have to say, especially as it is neither hateful nor bigoted to acknowledge biological reality.

Your obvious glee at women being silenced on this issue shows what you really are.

Unpleasant, isn't it?

And so common.

AnyOldPrion · 01/09/2021 19:21

I too have frequented bars in Glasgow and Edinburgh. It seems to me that the likelihood that that particular group of women were thrown out of the Horseshoe bar for drunken behaviour is very small.

I’d speculate that the person running the Horseshoe Bar’s Twitter account took careful note of what happens when you show a little too much honesty about why you threw a group of women out of a bar and decided that to do the same would give them further ammunition for their (very likely reasonable) assertion that they had been unfairly treated.

Women are indeed going to have to consider wearing body cams as this is starting to look like it could be a deliberate smear campaign.

KittenKong · 01/09/2021 19:26

Maybe it was deemed unsightly that a fair maiden should have had a small Sherry in public without a male chaperone.

The weegieban strikes...

GCs obsessed with other people’s genitals as usual
EmbarrassingAdmissions · 01/09/2021 19:41

Does anybody have a helpful perspective on Scots law and the meaning of the original charges being dropped and substituted with the new, different charges?

I've had a look on Twitter but it's mostly people who don't understand Scots law. It seems to be different charges with a potential sentence of 6 months rather than 2 years and which means it's retained in the lower court rather than being eligible for a jury trial?

WouldBeGood · 01/09/2021 19:45

The police might charge you with something but the papers then go to the PF who “marks” the case: looks at the summary of the evidence and decides on and frames the charges. The charges then appear on the complaint which is served on you (the accused, not defendant in Scotland) and you are then asked to plead guilty or not guilty to that in court.

CharlieParley · 01/09/2021 19:50

Well the meaning, in my view, is that they struggled with the original charges, either in proving them or justifying them. COPFS would only charge on this new basis because they felt they had a better chance of gaining a conviction on the lesser charge. That this stays at Sheriff Court may also have been a factor in choosing these charges. A jury trial would be unlikely to deliver while attracting even more media attention. But IANAL.

(Having spoken to a lawyer though, it is not unusual for charges to change before the trial.)

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 01/09/2021 20:02

blackforest

Since when has a worm been a genital?

I was discussing the NE Lambton Worm.

I didn’t realise this had turned into a pity party.

WouldBeGood · 01/09/2021 20:02

The PF will look at the evidence as presented to them and then frame the charges. Those are the first official charges.

Tbh, this kind of thing would never be likely to be the subject of a jury trial in Scotland.

I'm a lurker on these threads as I'm in awe of a lot of the knowledge to be honest and don't know enough.

The horseshoe situation has stunned me. I worked there years ago and honestly the fact that the statement was even allowed to be put to social media has stunned me. Even in 2013 there was a strict social media policy.

Something is not right here. No way did they women get put out for leaflets. I've seen folk piss on the floor and not get asked to leave.

This is bloody scary

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 01/09/2021 20:14

If it wasn't clear I feel there is an agenda by the bar not the women.

NecessaryScene · 01/09/2021 20:23

If it wasn't clear I feel there is an agenda by the bar not the women.

I think that's a bit strong. The agenda's from this Meb character, specifically, right?

Who was presumably allowed to run riot by other staff afraid to stand up and say no.

There's not been much of a "statement" has there? Just a "we're looking into it" from Greene King. The rest is Meb's personal ranting.

WouldBeGood · 01/09/2021 20:25

Wrong bar @NecessaryScene

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 01/09/2021 20:36

As WouldBeGood says, Meb was the incident in Doctors but ISurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 is commenting on the incident in the Horseshoe on 31 August.
