Gay man 'bullied' off Manchester Pride for wearing LGB Alliance hat and t-shirt

LibDem activist delighted by this. Here are two of her tweets. The gay man who turned up in an LGB hat and t-shirt was allegedly advised by police to leave for his own safety and seems to have had the hat stolen.

Another young fool tweeted that 'bullying the guy in the LGB Alliance shirt who came to the protest march is my favourit part of Pride so far xx'. He has since deleted this (possibly because he is now sober and/or has seen how many people had reported this to his employers) and now claims he was just chanting 'Trans lives matter!'. 'Bullying' is an odd choice of words for this. How could anyone think admitting publicly to 'bullying' was a good look?

The LGB Alliance man has been advised that people shouting at him is actually assault if he wants to take it further. Doesn't sound like he does, though.

Unedifying, to say the least.

It wasn't because of sexuality, Nic. 'T' is to do with 'identity' - nothing to do with sexuality. Trans people can be any sexuality.

GromblesofGrimbledon · 31/08/2021 17:24

@NorthernNic

Bear with me, I'm getting there but I want to show my workings out .. Was the T welcomed into Stonewall because they are a marginalised group or because of their sexuality? Because if it was the latter then the T is a superfluous letter surely? They are already represented by being L,G or B? Or, and I think I can hear the penny dropping in my own head they need the T because some are hetero?

and I think I can hear the penny dropping in my own head

Remember the sound of that penny dropping whenever you have doubts about this.

Yes, the T has nothing to do with sexuality. That is why it has nothing to do with LGB and why there are so many homosexual people now distancing themselves from the trans cause.

The T has opened the floodgates for all manner of ridiculous self-identified genders and specialities. Any heterosexual person can now nudge themselves into the pride rainbow family with claims of being "agender", "grey gender", "Demi sexual", "non binary", "gender fluid" and an ever expanding list of other invented identities.

It makes an absolute mockery of the LGB cause and allows any heterosexual person to call themselves "queer".

Many are indeed sexually attracted to the opposite sex. I think you will find this very relevant.

Thank you, I am getting there with this then. To me, a boring straight middle aged woman, the rainbow and pride were a symbol and an event to show support for LGB people which is why I cannot comprehend why this man was treated like this.
This is very much like how the billboard advertisement of the definition of female was taken. Anything visibly supporting anything other than Trans is automatically bad?

GromblesofGrimbledon · 31/08/2021 18:14

Trans 101. Your certificate is in the post.

They used to be. But now they’re danger signs for us Hmm

DevonTF · 31/08/2021 19:50

Pride lost their way when they started adding letters etc. You have to be the 'right type of gay'. In 2019 - Manchester Pride was accused of racism, which they accepted was true - The event's chief executive Mark Fletcher said he was "sad to say" he was "all too aware of discrimination that is still facing LGBT BAME people in alleged LGBT safe spaces in Manchester".
As an aside, I was amused to see that Alex Bramham, the victim of the bullying, is responsible for this:

play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=polari.app&hl=en_GB&gl=US
Kenneth Williams and Hugh Paddick used to speak Polari in their "Jules and Sand" sketches in Round the Horne - they were hilarious
Grin

Sorry if anyone's ready mentioned this, but she people have tried to justify the bullying by saying that not only is Alex Burnham transphobic, and the "wrong kind of gay", but he voted Tory.

Honestly - you couldn't make this stuff up

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 31/08/2021 20:13

Talking of "right type of..." style nastiness, a trans activist today was attacking gay men (James Dreyfus, Dennis Kavanagh, Alexander Bramham, the man who wore the hat) and accusing them of having "gay face", whatever that is.

Then castigated them for opposing conversion therapy.

GromblesofGrimbledon · 31/08/2021 20:51

This video is a joy for anyone interested in Polari

ArabellaScott · 31/08/2021 20:55

What did the deleted post say?

merrymouse · 31/08/2021 21:14

Not quite. Supporting the wrong kind of trans person is very bad.

Datun · 31/08/2021 21:22

Totally bona

I wear a pink breast cancer pin because I want all other cancer patients to die in a violent way.

KimikosNightmare · 31/08/2021 22:23

@littlbrowndog

That well known academic sally Hines. 🤦‍♀️
I'm astonished to find out Sally Hines is 54. I assumed from her Twitter posting style that she's at least 20 years younger but turns out she's just so down with the kids.
HeddaAga · 31/08/2021 23:17

Or, and I think I can hear the penny dropping in my own head they need the T because some are hetero?

A pretty penny at that 💷

Aparallaxia · 01/09/2021 00:08

Sorry, had to share this.

On Sunday a guy in a LGBTQ+ bar in Liverpool asked the staff to call the police because a couple of other customers didn't meet his sartorial standards.

The owner: 'Me and my staff, we don't judge anybody who comes into the venue, what they dress, their religion, race, creed, sexuality, whatever.'

Enough4me · 01/09/2021 00:10

@MissingLesbianSpaces I like your comparative approach. To add to this, are you a 'transcharity' person. You aren't supporting all cancer charities in factual terms, but can feel like you are as you support, of course, the right type of charity? Squash the wrong types of charity as they are clearly threats.

Like TW, TC people just have 'feelings' then make loads of shit up to suit themselves.

This could catch on, I may have to become a queer TC person as it sounds like a new 'in group', perhaps I could brainwash followers people to 'feel' like me...

MissingLesbianSpaces · 01/09/2021 00:23

Enough4me, I might have to become straight to be safe at an lgbt march!

Enough4me · 01/09/2021 00:41

@MissingLesbianSpaces I agree, you need to be more fluid and rather than follow what you know to be true just swap to being straight. Better still, to 'be kind' you could also consider becoming a TW. Bit of a jump, but remember you can ignore XX so biological sex isn't an issue and all in aid of 'being kind' but not to you.

Don't you just love the way LGBT+ brings you flexibility to fit in or be an outcast?

Feminist protest outside the Scottish Parliament today.

Crowd of women, with flags and banners. To the left is a man waving a trans flag. I would like to draw your attention to how the women are not attacking him.

According to various posters on this thread, they would be entitled to do so.

Except that if those women did attack that man and steal his flag, I have a feeling that previous posters who thought it a mere lark when the trans activists were stealing a gay man's hat, wouldn't be on the women's side here. I bet they'd find it absolutely dreadful if some feminists stole that man's flag.

I was at that protest and during it someone else with the "new" rainbow flag stood in the middle of the female protestors , shouting something illegible , refusing to move to the counter protest part even when told to by police , and strangely the only thing that happened to them was they were shouted down , no violence no theft almost as though its not a "both sides thing "
