Gay man 'bullied' off Manchester Pride for wearing LGB Alliance hat and t-shirt

LibDem activist delighted by this. Here are two of her tweets. The gay man who turned up in an LGB hat and t-shirt was allegedly advised by police to leave for his own safety and seems to have had the hat stolen.

Another young fool tweeted that 'bullying the guy in the LGB Alliance shirt who came to the protest march is my favourit part of Pride so far xx'. He has since deleted this (possibly because he is now sober and/or has seen how many people had reported this to his employers) and now claims he was just chanting 'Trans lives matter!'. 'Bullying' is an odd choice of words for this. How could anyone think admitting publicly to 'bullying' was a good look?

The LGB Alliance man has been advised that people shouting at him is actually assault if he wants to take it further. Doesn't sound like he does, though.

Unedifying, to say the least.

One thing I actually noticed this year was that there were men's toilets and unisex toilets. No women only.

It wasn't an issue for me as if you need to go you need to go but I felt for the women who this wasn't an option for or who were uncomfortable about those being the only options. Not that it made any difference everything seemed unisex and people were all very kind and accommodating about it all.

I don't know what the solution is.

To be fair she has always said she is bi so dunno where this queer thing has come from

AfternoonToffee · 30/08/2021 18:51

Why are people always told encouraged to give stuff to those who are trans?

It will stop them committing suicide. Apparently.

Never mind the fact of the high comorbity with MH problems.

No, its GC women killing them you know and if you give them a sandwich itll be fine.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 30/08/2021 19:07

she has a bag saying non terfs no swerfs

So she excludes prostituted women and their freedom to find a way to feed their children without "sex work" from her liberalism.

Good to know that she spends zero time thinking about the reality of it. Surveys find something like 89% of women in the sex trade want to leave it.

Fitt · 30/08/2021 19:10

It comes over as quite manic. When you have reached the point where you will shout at a gay man in the street in comfort because you have an angry mob behind you egging you on you have clearly lost control of yourself.

I don't doubt that some young people who are involved in any way in the conflict of identity may have suicidal tendencies, but the angry women like April who are laying these mental health problems on same sex attracted people are mistaken.

Sooner or later there has to be a recognition that being transsexual is not completely compatible with same sex attraction in order for young women like April to realise she can't just shout people into changing who they are.

I know it's normal for young people to be idealistic. She's not just that though, she's slipped over into nasty.

Most of these 'down with swerfs' types haven't given it a second thought beyond 'you go girl' / 'empowerment.'

merrymouse · 30/08/2021 19:16

Never EVER give in to terfs. They are killing our friends.

The message seems to be that trans people should believe that their lives aren’t worth living without universal external validation of identity.

That isn’t possible for anyone, and to suggest that it should be expected is irresponsible and cruel.

Yeah, its very 'theyre embracing their sexuality' without recognising that its embracing being sexualised by men.

When the Westboro Baptist Church go on their regular protests with their 'God hates....' signs etc, they are largely left to get on with it. Why? Because the best way to deal with them is for them to expose their hideousness for all the world to see, let everyone see how crazy they are.

There is very good reason why TRAs are shit scared of the LGBA, why David Paisley and friends are still rabidly trying to get their charity status removed, why people wearing t-shirts simply bearing the name will be hounded out. Because people aren't looking at the LGBA and seeing hateful batshittery, they are seeing something else entirely, so the only option is to try and drown out what they are saying by shouting louder, to shut down, to divert, to silence,...

Same for JK Rowling, for Mumsnet, for women putting up stickers or ribbons, for Keira Bell. The very same 'do not let the message get out, stop it at all costs' tactic applies. Because once it gets out, and it is getting out, the house of cards completely collapses.

Especially how nasty it all is towards gender critical women

giraffe please don't post images of someone's Facebook, it's likely to get the thread deleted if it looks like it's going down the path of personal attacks.
I'll pm you.

Agree. They have some vague idea that regulation could be improved, without any understanding that the people who control the money won’t tolerate any reduction in profits. There always seems to be a strange disconnect where capitalism must end, except for this one industry.

Only Fans is convincing another generation of women that exposing your labia online is a worthy career. I do laugh at my young female family member who can't decide which of the multitude of career opportunities open to her as an expensively educated middle class woman is the best, when she's sighing and thinking it would be easier to spend her productive life on her back manipulating her genitalia for paying observers.

It's a feminist thing apparently.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 30/08/2021 19:31

I very much doubt Ms Preston is reading, but if she is, I invite her to read this thread.

Who excludes "sex-workers"? I'd say it's those who claim there is no need for exit services, and who deny the level of violence against women in the sex trade.

AfternoonToffee · 30/08/2021 19:35

What would happen if a GC woman gave them a sandwich?

Have I just solved the latest murder in Midsommer? dun dun dun.

Very depressing read. Sex work is just work they say .But you don't get a lot of people trafficked into bar work....
merrymouse · 30/08/2021 19:45

I can’t stop thinking about this. If you genuinely care about somebody, do you tell them they should feel suicidal because somebody disagrees with them?

If you think somebody is suicidal, do you endorse the idea that people hate them and life isn’t worth living?

How is it 2021 and people are nodding along to these claims?

Such a good point
Datun · 30/08/2021 20:03

Well, if someone shouted at me for wearing a trans lives matter t-shirt, I'd think they were a callous idiot more than anything.

At PRIDE ? Don't be ridiculous.

Also JustPassingThrough3 a fully qualified gay man? Seriously?

Is that you JJ? 😂

Ereshkigalangcleg · 30/08/2021 20:22

Datun I had the same thought Grin spooky

merrymouse · 30/08/2021 20:44

Imagine teaching a child that it’s possible to love and completely accept somebody for who they are, while also disagreeing with some of their political views and beliefs. Once upon a time that would have been the default liberal position.

Fitt · 30/08/2021 21:31

More than anything social media has shown that the mob that wanted to enjoy hanging, drawing and quartering centuries ago are still there.
