Sorry if there's already a thread on this. I've been following it on twitter all day but didn't spot anything on Mumsnet.

The Edinburgh News has got a report about it.
www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/politics/inquiry-launched-into-row-over-transphobia-in-edinburgh-pub-3355594

The reporter quotes a lot of the TRA's tweets which they would probably love but I think the reporter's just given them enough rope to hang themselves.

I'm sure the average reader who hasn't followed the trans debate won't be impressed by someone who calls themselves an "AGP porn addict male" in their twitter bio.

That's horrific MissingLesbianSpaces. I'm so sorry that happened to you Flowers

We never get an answer to the women locked in prison with rapists question from the people who declare TWAW. Perhaps because the answer might reveal they don't truly believe it after all? Or maybe they just don't care because it's not them it's happening to?

Also agree, the homophobia coming from the so called community is vile. Utterly vile.

RedDogsBeg · 25/08/2021 18:40

So sorry MissingLesbianSpaces, it's just horrific.Flowers

There are so many questions we never get answers to yourhairiswinterfire, my view is they just don't care, it's only women being used and abused after all, their priority is the men and only the men and that goes for all situations not just prisons. The racism, homophobia and misogyny of the ideology doesn't bother them one iota, to say nothing of the intolerance for certain religions.

Equally we never get any evidence to back up their spurious claims either.

@MissingLesbianSpaces

... And if the man who raped me transitioned, Brenda would insist I tell my story as "I was raped by a woman". We I fucking will NOT put that vile act, which helped over 50 years ago and still makes me want to die, on a woman. Please look at terfisaslur.com to see the hatred. I feel more unsafe at a Pride march these days, they fucking hate lesbians
I am so very sorry for what happened to you MissingLesbianSpaces

I truly hesitate to share this and have no wish at all to upset you further, but it is too important that female people are have and share open information regarding all parts of the politics of gender identity to have informed consent in their decision regarding sex based rights. Some proponents of these politics would in fact believe that a TW is not able to rape, on the grounds of your higher privilege and social power, and the worst you therefore could experience is forced sex.

I think this was one of the most 'educational' tweets I've read, although not quite in the way the tweeter probably hoped for.

It breaks my heart that women will stand by rapists and care more about pronouns than the raped woman, but here we are. The right defends rape and violence against women, and the left.defends violence against women. Don't fool yourself, both sides despise us and wishes rape was legal so we would have to spread out legs on demand and shut the fuck up. I am beyond angry and beyond disgusted by both the incel and transcel movements. You should be too.
When you add being a lesbian to the mix it justifies the hatred and rape even more. They really do need to take the "L" out of the acronym.

Aparallaxia · 25/08/2021 20:41

Thank you to those who responded about Meb's anti-semitic tweet. My response got censored by MN.

littlbrowndog · 25/08/2021 20:44

Missinglesbainspaces so sorry this happened to you. My heart for you.

'Does anyone have a link to the TW in the USA who was faking pregnancy at work? Who had planned a day to role play delivering the baby, feigning breastfeeding and that the baby would be still born?'

Is this it?

Flowers, Cake and whatever you like best for @MissingLesbianSpaces

We stand with you

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 25/08/2021 21:35

Hang on, what did Missing say? Is a woman subjected to sexual violence being censored by MN in the feminism forum?

RedDogsBeg · 25/08/2021 21:39

I missed it too, but in answer to the second part of your question - probably.
Tisha0 · 25/08/2021 22:23

Whatever Missing said, it was very rapidly deleted - less than 15 minutes after being posted.

Quite an incredibly quick response, considering the length of time (hours+) it can take to have extremely offensive/aggressive/etc posts on other topics/boards even reviewed…….

Waitwhat23 · 25/08/2021 22:31

The misogynistic monitors are clearly keeping an eye on this thread.

we know you hate women talking. We won't wheesht though!

MissingLesbianSpaces · 25/08/2021 23:19

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who responded to my post.

ArabellaScott · 25/08/2021 23:20

'I'm as GC as the next female, but I don't think it's valid to select outlier individuals or very minority trans sub cultures as representative of trans women in general.

There are billions of humans on this planet. The internet both nutures and exposes many extreme niche obsessions'

Just the statement that there are billions of humans on this planet.

The statement that being able to get pregnant and have a baby is a privilege.

Shows a total disregard of the appalling things that happen all too often to half of those billions.

These sort of comments show either a total lack of interest in anything to do with women's rights (as things related to our oppression due to being the ones that generally are able to have babies are in the news all the time). Or that those things just don't register/aren't seen as a big deal.

It's just not on.

The global and historical toll on women and girls is horrific. Because of this 'privilege'. So positioning it as such is just frankly callous.

NiceGerbil · 25/08/2021 23:50

I do find the multiple incidents of a strong police response to a few women doing nothing particularly interesting interesting as well.

The police can't actually think they need to come out mob handed because a few women are wearing certain t-shirts, talking in public, putting ribbons on things etc.

So they come out in force to make a point.

Why, is the question. It's across different forces as well. Your average copper on the job wouldn't think oho leaflets eh better get the meat wagon out. So they have been told to prioritise, to react this way. And they go along with it. That's fucking weird and pretty worrying.

It reminds me though of the met reaction to the people mainly women who gathered in the park after Sarah everard was murdered. One of theirs had been arrested at that point. A very upsetting crime, women v upset, moved to go and gather. A met cop in the frame. So they turn up in force, mob handed. Ready for Argy bargy. Escalated the whole thing. For me, as a woman who has lived in met area most of my life. That was a clear message. And again. One that is telling women to STFU etc.

Gerbil have you got me confused with someone else? I'm not the one saying female people are privileged.
NiceGerbil · 26/08/2021 00:57

Yes I have sorry! Bilinda. Glanced and saw the B's.

Apologies.

The gist of it can go to bilinda. The casualness that oh this is a privilege. Is said. The thing that is the root cause of our oppression, globally and for millennia. The thing that leads to vast numbers of women and girls dying, being seriously damaged, being imprisoned, beaten, murdered. And in countries where things are better for women there's still MH issues for loads of women, birth trauma including PTSD. Women still sustain long term damage that can be life changing. And of course there is still a risk of death.

The thing that results in girls being married to their abusers v young in the USA in some Christian communities.

Etc etc.

Oh yes. We must be grateful for all that. It's such a privilege over male people who... Can generally also make babies ..

I found the whole special bond stuff a bit grim as well. It's that ideal that impacts so many women who don't feel overjoyed and etc etc with it all. And who says dads don't have a special bond with their kids? If they put the time in they do.

BilindaB · 26/08/2021 06:44

Did you all miss the post where I withdrew the 'ability to get pregnant is a privilege that transwomen don't have'? I did so almost immediately. It came off the top of my head in a list, someone pointed out it was flawed, and I took it back. I don't think that now. Discussions should be about listening, which I did. Thanks.

Waitwhat23 · 26/08/2021 07:07

No, it was one very offensive statement in a paragraph of very offensive statements and is very indictive of how you view women so people didn't miss your retraction, they just think it worthy of further discussion.

BilindaB · 26/08/2021 07:23

This thread is full of statements I find very offensive. But we can try to have civilised discussion, or you can bin that idea and go back to your echo chamber. I guess we'll see what happens.

Helleofabore · 26/08/2021 07:33

I must have missed your apology Bilinda for making such an offensive statement in the first place. If you cannot see how offensive that statement was, it could be an indication of your have bias. I don’t know what you read to support your ideas but I have only ever seen that point about pregnancy from males, and usually transitioned males. It certainly gives me a very clear view of their motivations for transitioning.

Does start ringing alarms for you?

Helleofabore · 26/08/2021 07:48

or you can bin that idea and go back to your echo chamber

Bilinda, you have been called out several times on your posts, yet you seem to be clinging to this tactic of telling us that we are in an echo chamber.

I am quite surprised that you have resorted to that. But then, I guess you mistakenly believe that there are only 3000 ‘GC’ people in the world and lots of sock puppets.

You seem to be unable to support many of your claims. And you cannot see the transphobic nature of your statements where you suggest that ‘passing’ males should have access to female single sex spaces but others shouldn’t. You seem to have a preconceived idea of what males who identify as women should look like, and you cannot seem to acknowledge that even with extensive extreme surgery there are cues to male bodies that cannot be fully erased and that other females can pick these cues up when seeing someone in person. Hence we keep saying on these threads that it is rare for a male to ‘pass’ in person, and moving.

My teen has even had a few lessons at school on not basing any of their assumptions on how a person looks on the internet or in print. It is even more so for males ‘passing’.
