GC women thrown out of Edinburgh pub

Sorry if there's already a thread on this. I've been following it on twitter all day but didn't spot anything on Mumsnet.

The Edinburgh News has got a report about it.

The reporter quotes a lot of the TRA's tweets which they would probably love but I think the reporter's just given them enough rope to hang themselves.

I'm sure the average reader who hasn't followed the trans debate won't be impressed by someone who calls themselves an "AGP porn addict male" in their twitter bio.

So how many people do you expect to turn up to protest Marion Millar's prosecution in several days time? You should be able to muster several hundred surely? Thousands even. Or do you want to get your excuses in early?

Isn't it just and extremely childish judging by the number of likes or followers. I thought people grew out of that as they grew up, obviously not.

I know a hell of a lot of people who, like me, don't have a Twitter account viewing it as a toxic cesspit yet read and agree with the information posted by accounts such as Fair Play for Women.

It’s shameful how quickly this has grown arms and legs, it’s shameful that it’s become a completely fabricated story about women actively targeting a single trans person in a single pub and it’s shameful how many people are willing to parrot anything they see that paints a specific woman in a bad light.

I also couldn’t give a mo keys who gets how many likes and retweets, women’s and children’s rights battles are not being fought on social media, they’re being fought on the ground as they always are.

I know no person IRL (including two sets of parents of transboys) who actually believe the mantras, even the teenagers themselves, and none of them accept sex can be changed.

@RedDogsBeg - same. I work in the third sector and very few people have public Twitter profiles. Same with the medical professionals I know. They don’t do their work on Twitter. Yet I know there is a very strong thread of rejection of gender self ID among them.

A quick look shows many tweets in the high hundreds, and some with 1-2k likes. Find me a fairplaytowomen tweet with a similar number.

The recent GC glasgow event attracted about 100 people. I am saying that the number of GCs in the UK is no more than a couple of thousand people. Which is relevant whenever one of them tries to speak for all women.

'GC' means believing that sex is a thing and that it's important in certain circs. Is an axis of oppression globally and as long as we can remember. That around the world women are subjected to various abuses because of their physical sex. Invariably promoted/ done by the opposite sex.

If you think that only a couple of thousand people in the UK think cock v cunt is of any relevance to.. anything. Then I can assure you that you're wrong.

Go down any bog standard pub after work on a weds and ask the locals if they believe male/ female is irrelevant in general.

You genuinely believe the average bloke is on board with bodies make no different. Gender matters. Women can have penises. I worry about my daughters being victims of sexism/ sex offences etc. If only they felt like boys inside the risk would reduce massively.

It's a Tuesday. Which is always going to be harder to make.

Also with the COPFS moving the hearing twice now I think many will be reluctant to have to fork out for travel and hotels for a third time.

What utter, utter nonsense. The screams of 'transphobe!', the doxxing, the deplatforming, the threats, threats of loss of employment etc etc etc have effectively silenced women on this subject. GC views have been framed as 'anti - trans' because to actually say out loud what TRA's actually think and are campaigning for makes most ordinary people in the street say 'hang on a minute, what?'.

The chilling effect has meant that women holding perfectly rational and legally protected views fear for their jobs and livelihoods if they say, what to any rational person is just fact, that human beings cannot change sex and women deserve to retain their sex based rights.

I am generally very vocal about my views. On this subject, I am forced to stay silent. I real life, only my husband and other family members know that I am GC. As I am in Scotland, I can be prosecuted for airing these views in my own house.

We are many.

You are clearly mistaken if you believe that the majority of women will agree with you once they are fully informed.

I suggest you need to get out of whatever echo chamber you are in and out into the real world.

You might want to review your understanding of what ‘on the ground’ means in activist terms.

The thing is, Bilinda, I don't actually care how many people agree or disagree with me.

I will not stand down while children are being peddled this unscientific, unproven, potentially harmful narrative.

I will not stand down while women face the stripping away of their rights - even if they are unaware of the implications.

I won't stand down and shut up when I am told what words to use, what thoughts to think, when I can and can't ask questions, debate, take part in civil society.

Many women support TWAW, great, fine. Many women don't - I'm here, and fighting, for them, and with them.
