Gay men being subject to abuse for their sexuality

Or Homophobia as we know it.

The belief that the trans-activists would stop by just attacking lesbians turns out to have been a miscalculation; gay men are a target now, and the community is only just starting to wake-up to the threat it is facing.

Woke Homophobia

@BluebirdsRequiem

Hello! Wot's this? I'm late to the party but I have a solution for bluebird regarding this statement.

he should simply state his preference and NOT add any unsolicited commentary on whether he thinks trans men are "real men"

The phrase you're looking for is "I'm gay". That encompasses "no transmen because they aren't male". And for the lovely ladies "I'm a lesbian" means "no transwomen because they aren't female". The words gay and lesbian are neat little words that sum that all up without the need for further questioning.

I know we're quite a few posts in but that should settle the matter.

Settles in with a cup of tea.

I have biscuits if anyone wants one.

Chickenyhead · 08/08/2021 20:06

She knows, we have discussed sexuality and the fact that labelling yourself at such a young age isn't necessary.

I'm very anti-label I wonder if this is her rebellion, choosing something where labels are rife.

Datun · 08/08/2021 20:06

I have been on threads where infertile women on the actual thread have been compared to men, on the actual thread, who cannot conceive. Obvs.

And now sexual orientation is bigoted, because it means some men frame it as them not being able to have sex. (Obviously completely missing that their personality is very likely equally offputting).

All women suffer, but I'm very sorry for women who are specifically targeted in this woman hating crap, you have my sympathy and never ending support.

Men who want to be women: Sexual orientation is a protected characteristic. And it is never going to change. Please get out of the 1950s, and get over it already.

Dennis Noel Kavanagh via Twitter,

"1/ I’m very hopeful but also very confident that the editor of
LesbianGayNews, the truly fantastic Pomegranate2021
will forgive me this, but I’ve now been approached 5+ times today by great grassroots writers who have clear voices we should hear.

2/ I’m not the editor, I just do the legal chat and commentary and interviews. But I can say this. We are not the mainstream gay media. We can’t pay you and we can’t make you Twitter celebs. What we can do is this. We can publish clear, distinctive voices.

3/ You may be LGBT, you may be a straight person with a gay child, friend, sibling or whatever. What we can do is give a platform to people who on a grassroots level, without the corporate largesse of Sonewall and their allies need a voice.

4/ we only exist because the new “gay rights” movement did everything they could to shut down “Boyz” magazine. David edited that when I was a scared teenager and there were no iPhones and that is what I looked at as a scared boy in a gay pub.

5/ That was taken from us. TRAs and their friends decided 30+ year of editing a gay newspaper was no defence to activists shutting down our voices. Our newspapers. Our paper that pictures of gay men having fun. Our paper that had HIV specials.

6/ before iPhones these were IMPORTANT HIV specials - they are now gone. They didn’t fit in with certain people or the concern of the actual gay community that GNC gay kids were being rushed into medicalisation.

7/ the world revolves and all things are set back now once as to where they are. Once the outcasts we are not the establishment. You can read gay mainstream media about “gay trees” or “third gender” bacteria or you can read us.

8/ you can read boys being told by teachers they should not wear boy’s uniforms, you can read LaurenGNC_Butch
talking about gender dysphoria, me talking about law, you can read
bindelj talking about how important Navratilova is to lesbians.

9/ or you can read the alternative. If you want to be part of a grassroots gay organisation. If you want to talk about how you fell. If you want to do so and not worry about corporate approval come to us, we don’t have any, we don’t care.

10/ we are facing homophobia 2.0 but we are gay rights 2.0. To all the people I’ve spoke to today who want an article and a voice I say this. Write it. We’ll help you. You can be LGBT or trans - doesn’t matter - others pretend to be on the streets, we are the 2.0 barricades.

11/ Come join people like jobartosch , peterdaly, professional Judy Menno, me, bindelj, simonjedge and others and contribute to an authentic LGBT or straight voice that supports gay rights grounded in reality.

I want to add GaryJPowell to the list and apologise to him for missing him out :)"

Ah. My sympathies to him.

I'll wait.

Sips tea

Biscuit, Chickeny?

Chickenyhead · 08/08/2021 20:11

Ooooh yes please Wink

Artichokeleaves · 08/08/2021 20:11

I'm sorry the posts have been reported and taken down. They were extremely illuminating and it's important that it's honestly and openly shared what the views are on both sides.

I do understand however that there are things HQ cannot allow to stand on their site.

mollythemeerkat · 08/08/2021 20:12

If she knows you accept that she is attracted to her own sex, and that you have no issue at all with it, and keep connected to her and show you care, whatever happens, it'll make all the difference in the world.

Agree with this 100 percent. Hanging in there while our young people sort out who they are can be SO hard but in the end, I do believe that we (and they) will get there.

GromblesofGrimbledon · 08/08/2021 20:12

@Chickenyhead

Ooooh yes please Wink

It's not a Mumsnet recipe, since those tend to be whipped out your hand before you even get a sniff.

I'll chance a choc chip Chickeny 🍪

@Deliriumoftheendless

Maybe Blue would like to pop over to Twitter and ask Owen Jones about dating transmen.
Never forget.
Gay men being subject to abuse for their sexuality
Chickenyhead · 08/08/2021 20:21

@GromblesofGrimbledon thank you

DD is strong, but has ASD, she knows I'm GC. she came out as a lesbian a few years ago and she knows that I am bisexual.

This week is the first time she has identified as trans, she doesn't bind or hide her female body at all.

We are on a Mexican standoff because I won't join in. I've told her it doesn't change my love for her at all. She refuses any outside help. I wonder whether to lock the Internet down.

Datun · 08/08/2021 20:22

ScreamingMeMe

It doesn't get more hypocritical, does it.

FloralBunting · 08/08/2021 20:23

I am grateful to those who archived the abuse, but I am also glad that MNHQ decided that level of genuine hideous anti-gay sentiment was unacceptable to have on this website. It's the first time in quite some time that I feel MNHQ have made the right call, and I'd like to publicly thank them for it.

Don't get used to it, though, I'll go back to being a right grumpy sod after this post.

RedDogsBeg · 08/08/2021 20:25

Rampant and persistent homophobia being one.

It is important to stress this point for lurkers and anyone else who chances on this thread:

The posts by Bluebird were disgustingly homophobic and misogynistic, they were abusive, threatening and coercive.

Bluebird is a proponent of TRA gender ideology.

FloralBunting · 08/08/2021 20:27

Chickeny she's young and when we're young, we fall into lots of identity clans. It's just part of exploring the world. The important thing is remaining a steady core for her, a place to always come back to.

As long as she's not pursuing things that will harm her, then I think your best bet is a bit of 'That's nice dear' and avoid oppositional stuff. She may believe it now, and maybe for a while yet. But it'll pass when the fashion changes and reality bites as she matures.

Worth quoting this whole message. This is a very good shout if you have something to say, and they have some excellent articles already to share with friends and family.

The posts by Bluebird were disgustingly homophobic and misogynistic, they were abusive, threatening and coercive*.

Bluebird is a proponent of TRA gender ideology.

And after being insulting and offensive, their subsequent very best efforts to get the thread deleted (by being worse), failed.

like you don't care about being called transphobic, we don't care about being called misogynistic or homophobic by the likes of you.

Then if you don’t care what we say, why do you keep coming back? Are you saying it one more time (and one more time after that) so it penetrates?

FloralBunting · 08/08/2021 20:42

You are going to be banned again, btw. Them's the rules.

But, in case they leave that post up, I'll point out that you made really, really anti-gay statements, including about trying to change the law to remove protection from homosexuals, and you are framing that as a negotiation that right minded people would feel needed some sort of accommodating compromise.

Your last sentence there says that we have made it total war by not acquiescing to your demands, and therefore you are going to 'fight it like total war'. I'm really not sure why you think 'total war against homosexuality' is any kind of positive thing.

I will say this. I am not fighting any war. I will rely on the law of the land that holds my sex and my sexual orientation as protected characteristics, and I will stand firm against this pernicious resurgence of genuine hatred, because I am completely sure of my own integrity on the matter. You've made your allegiances plain. You are welcome to keep doing so.

Women won't wheest, and LGB rights still matter.
