This sounds as if we may be able to meet halfway. Could you suggest a form of words that would both communicate the gay man's needs in romantic partners and avoid wasting the transman's time, and also wouldn't seem transphobic to you?

I'm wondering what the justification is among decent people for this kind of growing overt homophobia being tolerated on platforms like this one or Twitter of Facebook? If someone was speaking to me like this in a work setting, I would be reporting them for harrassment.

We could start by refreshing people on what they can look like, particularly lesbophobia, which has the additional dimension on homophobia around women’s sexual boundaries in relation to excluding men, and how some men have always perceived that to be a threat to the natural order of things?

I suppose it is a challenge to stand against it when there is a group of people in organizations like Stonewall/Diva, etc. are openly promoting it. I watched some 'Lesbian Visibility Week' content and watched lesbians encouraged to 'get used' to different kinds of genitals.
How do we properly challenge that kind of thing? It's overt, brazen and discriminatory. The law must mean something in these contexts.

She is both feminine, very long hair, pastel loving stereotypes, and masculine interests, hobbies stereotypes. A real mixture like every human everywhere.

They need to be reported for a Hate Crime or Non-Crime Hate Incident, the homophobia being expressed is appalling.

Well, it was stuff like this that shifted me into conversion therapy. Shaming lesbians and gay men for our sexuality is incredibly powerful, and given that this version of this behaviour is coming from 'inside' the 'community' is an attack I don't think anyone really expected.

It's going to be necessary to see if the EqA10 works in court to protect all protected characteristics and if hate speech is something worried about for all nine.

I can't help thinking if some comments on this thread had been regarding other protected characteristics then HQ would have been inundated with threats of legal action by now.

This thread has been illuminating - I might be naive but didnt think that there was still such a hatred of gay people out there. Solidarity to anyone feeling a bit battered by some of the homophobic shit on here.

I agree. However, keeping a thread visible where men, or transwomen, or trans activists call lesbians bigoted filth for being lesbian, is something of an eye-opener.

Just keep being there. One of the hardest things for me is that my mum was massively homophobic (and sadly abusive) and my dad was neglectful and then absent. One of the drivers for me was to try and be acceptable to her. We don't realize how incredibly significant we are as parents just on that very basic level for so much longer than the toddler years.

If she knows you accept that she is attracted to her own sex, and that you have no issue at all with it, and keep connected to her and show you care, whatever happens, it'll make all the difference in the world.
