That’s it, I’m writing to my MP tonight to raise my concerns about trans sex offenders on women’s wards. As GC Mumsnet has made me realise, we have got to make it clear to politicians that maintaining sex based rights and protections is important to us. Since the Beeb and the Graun refuse to publicise the rising tide of anxiety and outrage about the erosion of women’s sex-based rights and children’s safety — and there is plenty in this list of demands that causes me concern on those points — it’s up to individuals to keep MPs’ post bags and minds full of reminders that most people do not want this and do not think it in the slightest bit progressive. That way we can at least hope that if we do end up with Sir Keir ‘Capitulation’ Starmer or similar as PM he’ll be in for a hell of a fight if he tries to bring in self ID.
I can’t, at least, see BoJo being particularly interested in doing anything to move self ID forward. Too lazy, and dare I say it too canny about the majority opinion. I’d absolutely love to know where Carrie stands on all this too. Wonder if there’s a way to send her a copy of Helen Joyce or Kathleen Stock...
I’m new to all this, and like PP my employer is pretty woke so I haven’t felt able to say anything like this under my own name, so thanks for letting me get all that off my chest.

GarethBalesManBun · 07/08/2021 09:44

That (ridiculously long) list might as well just say:

‘We want OUR rights, in fact, nevermind rights, we want our every whim and desire and want and need and perversion and feeling (don’t forget the feelings!) catered for and fuck all the rest of you! p.s. burn the witches’

KittenKong · 07/08/2021 09:46

We want rights! All rights! Now!

And and free puppies! And Igbo and get me a tuna sandwich and a Pepsi (and don’t you dare get me Coke)

MummBraTheEverLeaking · 07/08/2021 09:53

As far as I can see so far, "rights" means

Naming no names, the organisation that have advised various companies and institutions about the law, but the law as they want it instead of as it is - they want that organisation with their sticky mitts in everywhere. Seeing as they seem to advocate for their every demand this is no surprise. And campaign for sex based protections to be removed, hurrah.

Surgery waiting times within months, drugs in weeks. Other, actual, life saving surgeries, meh. Strain on NHS, meh. Regret in years to come, well they weren't trans anyway. Meh.

Self ID as law everywhere, especially if you have a penis - there shouldn't be anywhere you can't go. And if there is, shut them down.

To be the most important. Everyone should be fawning, especially women. If women aren't they're clearly hateful and need firing from their jobs and charged with a crime to set an example.

If this was about actual discrimination like with jobs, or being physically attacked for who they are then fair enough.

It looked like a bunch of mainly whiny teens never told no, wanting indulging though.

KittenKong · 07/08/2021 09:57

They must have elderly relatives - struggling with health and low pensions. They mush know people with life limiting illnesses, families struggling to put food on the table...

and yet this is how they choose to spend their time, because I can bet they aren’t also pushing for disability access for public transport users - despite the ‘zimmer frame’ (possibly a prop?)

JustcameoutGC · 07/08/2021 09:57

If we are not allowed to ask challenging questions about why what appears to be a grown man dressed in clothes that would be more associated with babies, wearing a badge saying slut, then when the fuck do we start pointing out the bleeding obvious.

As well as being asked to park the material reality of sex, we are also being asked to ignore all of our senses, eyes, ears, common, spidey, and not ask the questions that so need to be asked.

What are the motivations of adults choosing to dress like babies and wear a badge saying slut?

Why are they demanding the erosion of women's boundaries?

Why are they advocating for erosion of safeguarding of children?

Is this all about trans rights, or are other factors in play?

If this person was not a trans activist, how would the world respond to them?

Funny, haven't seen any coverage of this in the Guardian, guessing the optics would be pretty challenging.

KittenKong · 07/08/2021 09:58

I think baby man is baby woman (I saw some there). That’s new.

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 07/08/2021 10:02

Dressing in children's clothes and labelling yourself a slut, and then calling anyone who questions this a 'far right bigot'....

And we're the unreasonable ones?

KittenKong · 07/08/2021 10:04

Don’t forget the guillotine badge (I assume it’s not an anti french monarchy statement)

TheWatersofMarch · 07/08/2021 10:05

@EishetChayil that comment undermines decent gender critical views - it's hate. It's been picked up on Twitter. The cat boy/slut in dungarees is just who he/she/they is/are and good luck to them for completely subverting gender norms. My only concern is that if that person is male I don't want to share an intimate space with them and I don't want to be screamed at as transphobic for saying so. We need third spaces so that person does not have to use a facility which compromises their safety or dignity.

KittenKong · 07/08/2021 10:07

Maybe we need a ‘shouty person space’. Do such people very shout at each other tho?

Jaysmith71 · 07/08/2021 10:07

"Hundreds" of people attend, says the reliable source:

www.pinknews.co.uk/2021/08/06/london-trans-rights-protest/

"We condemn this absolute shambles of a govt," (and demand they do what we want.)

KittenKong · 07/08/2021 10:08

Hundreds of pronouns maybe?

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 07/08/2021 10:12

I often wonder do these people sit down at their Sunday dinner and tell the granny all about how they dressed up as a baby and called themselves a slut and then shouted at some people. And what a great day it was.

KittenKong · 07/08/2021 10:13

My grandma would have had a few choice words!

Helleofabore · 07/08/2021 10:13

Strange that we don’t have posters coming to support the adult baby with the badge.

Sexnotgender · 07/08/2021 10:19

Couldn’t agree more @FatAnkles

Always baffled how anything like what you’ve said is deemed controversial.

Eyesofdisarray · 07/08/2021 10:22

Trans rights good, your rights bad
As George Orwell wouldn't have said

ArtemesiaK · 07/08/2021 10:22

There are some lovely photos here, lots of adorable people you'd be happy to share your spaces with...

MummBraTheEverLeaking · 07/08/2021 10:23

Ah but the third spaces aren't affirming enough remember. If there aren't any women around to fawn at their bravery, or to make feel uncomfortable then their existence gets denied, which is literally the worst thing EVER.

OnlyTheLangOfTheTitberg · 07/08/2021 10:24

I’ve been saying for a while now that TRA is the wrong name for them, because what they are advocating for are not rights but privileges over and above the rights any other person in the UK has (and they already have more rights than most in some specific areas; I’d quote like to have my birth certificate and passport altered to make me 20 years older to match the age I feel when my arthritis plays up so I can claim my state pension, but apparently that’s one legal fiction too far).

OnlyTheLangOfTheTitberg · 07/08/2021 10:25

quite like

FloralBunting · 07/08/2021 10:25

WatersofMarch I think the adult baby person is subverting something, but it's nothing that needs subverting, and it's batshit to accuse someone pointing out that dressing as an adult baby with badges like that on yourself is fucking concerning, of not being 'decent'.

I'm sure it has been screenshotted and put on Twitter. Where all the MAPs gather and rub their hands in glee that some people are apparently too nervous to say 'Dressing up as a slut baby in public is a pervy thing to do'. It's not feminist to applaud such behaviour as 'subverting gender norms'. It's being bamboozled by queer theory and it's entirely wrong to suggest someone having a problem with it is 'hate'.

GromblesofGrimbledon · 07/08/2021 10:25

Very true. TPAs it is!

They desperately want our attention and validation. They call us bigots but what they really mean is "please please look at me."

Damaged souls.
