He did not disclose this to his followers (AFAIK) which presumably means he knew it was not something that it's ok to do.

He did, this is how it came to light. There's a recording of a phone call with one of his 'fans' in which he discusses it as if it was normal. The other person on the call also discusses it as if it was normal.

The whole thing is so fucked up.

@vivariumvivariumsvivaria

Erish "I am entirely comfortable with people also being prosecuted for abuse of CWC and inciting violence, if that was found to be the case.

Agree.

If this is all true - which seems extraordinary to me - then it looks like a modern day "chuck him in the ring with a lion" for entertainment.

I'm horrified by the assault on this vulnerable woman - but I'm surrpsrised to find that I am even more disturbed to learn that an unknown number of keyboard provocateurs have been toying with this accused perpetrator for a decade.

Fuck me, that's dark.

I'm willing to bet the people behind the keyboards are male, the people doing the raping and harassing are male and the people who are the targets are female.

It echoes some of the darker Black Mirror episodes.
Ninkanink · 07/08/2021 11:35

Yes and this faction of truly messed up people is what I was referring to in my previous comment which was deleted.

The trolls are driving so much of this.

KittenKong · 07/08/2021 20:38

How is this being tried as incest and not rape?

NiceGerbil · 07/08/2021 21:02

Different laws maybe?

Don't know what rape law is in Virginia.

NiceGerbil · 07/08/2021 21:03

Google-

They have a fairly common definition that does not account for I'm guessing incapacity, coercion, freezing etc.

I'll look a bit more to check.

'Rape is a serious felony offense under Virginia Law 18.2-61. It is punished by a maximum penalty of life imprisonment, with a minimum penalty of five years in prison. Adult rape is defined as having sexual intercourse with another, against their will, by force, threat, or intimidation.'

NiceGerbil · 07/08/2021 21:05

More-

'If any person has sexual intercourse with a complaining witness, whether or not his or her spouse, or causes a complaining witness, whether or not his or her spouse, to engage in sexual intercourse with any other person and such act is accomplished (i) against the complaining witness's will, by force, threat or intimidation of or against the complaining witness or another person; or (ii) through the use of the complaining witness's mental incapacity or physical helplessness; '

Hmmm. She hasn't made a complaint so that might be a barrier.

NiceGerbil · 07/08/2021 21:40

I mean no idea.

They also need to investigate fully I suppose and may add more charges

LangClegsInSpace · 07/08/2021 22:13

They're charging him with incest now because they have the evidence.

There has been mention of additional charges, which I would assume means rape, but they can't charge him with that until they have sufficient evidence. They need to establish:

  1. Whether Barbara Chandler was capable of consenting to sex

  2. If she was capable of consenting then did she actually consent

LangClegsInSpace · 07/08/2021 22:23

If the answer to either of those questions is 'no' then it's rape.

NiceGerbil · 08/08/2021 01:52

Agree.

I have a feeling some of the other charges will make this even worse from something I saw when looking for the laws there.

Erm well that's all speculation

And if involved to get them to do it, why report?

Let's wait and see eh

ChiaraRimini · 09/08/2021 22:34

Chris Chandler is a transwoman, because that is what Chris says Chris is. "Acceptance without exception", says Stonewall. So Chris is a woman.
Yet Chris has admitted to raping his mother. How is this logically possible?

Kittii · 09/08/2021 22:40

Because logic isn't part of transgender ideology. TRAs would say that women have penises too. 🙄

NiceGerbil · 10/08/2021 00:33

Rape in loads of countries is penetration with something.

That's quite common.

England Wales , means with penis is a bit of an outlier now.

NiceGerbil · 10/08/2021 00:35

Turns out for the good though as the stats in the last few years are having more women convicted...

Assault by penetration carries same max term so our law is fine from that pov. (Often gets called minimising other assaults so just throwing that out there!).

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 10/08/2021 14:23

Obv off the point of the thread but personally I think our law splitting the two is right, because rape is a different thing which carries risks of std and pregnancy which assault by penetration does not. Not to minimise but they are not the same.
