Definition of woman printed in The Times

I don't really get why emphasising the definition causes either annoyance on one side or delight on the other. Can't those who have redefined the word woman just redefine the word female? In fact isn't that what they've attempted with the TWAW slogan? Why can't they just start pushing a new slogan: trans women are female?

What's happening is push-back: the word woman is being reclaimed by, well, women. Adult human females.

Transwomen are actually men though, aren't they, with gender dysphoria. I've moved so far from my starting point because of the relentless abuse and violent reaction to women's claim on retaining their rights. I don't think I accede to any misappropriation of the word "woman" now.

Passively-aggressively stating the dictionary definition of woman suggests that the argument over TWAW has been lost. And if I were a trans-rights activist I would simply welcome your helpful definition, and point out that TWAF!

Female and woman is exactly the same sex! Female and girl. Woman and girl. All the same sex.

Woman is the adult version of female, girl is the juvenile version of female.

Well, yeah, they are after female too. I overheard an online session about university that my daughter was doing today. There was talk of various choirs, one was for female identifying and female leaning people and another for male identifying and male leaning people as well as some that were mixed sex.

Surely they want sopranos and contraltos in one and tenors and basses in the other…

I am with SqueakyPeaks at this point too. Give them an inch and they’ll take a mile, or several.

We need boundaries, we need to be able to assert our perception of reality. We need to be able to say what we believe is true.

I also agree with Datun. Woman is a sex based word, as is female and girl, not a costume nor an identity.

I used to be a bit more #bekind, but I'm with reality, biology and Posy Parker about this, now.
