It’s an advert though - not an article or a political statement.

Times is the same group as the (thankfully now defunct) news of the world. It’s not a feminist organisation.

BettyFilous · 19/07/2021 15:59

I subscribed to the Times online earlier this year. The teen/twenty something/thirty something me would never have considered it. I was a Guardian reader for 30+ years but, like the Labour party, it has gone weird and doesn’t resonate with me anymore.

MouseontheLouse · 19/07/2021 16:02

OP could have been clearer.
At least the Times was willing to run the advert, that's something.

Hope they don't issue a grovelling apology.

TalkingOutYerArse · 19/07/2021 16:09

Excellent work Posie/For Women Scotland Grin

Mumtwoboys90 · 19/07/2021 16:14

im subscribing now just because of that. Love it

Thelnebriati · 19/07/2021 16:17

Cue hysterical SM claims about the cost and what the money could have been spent on in 3...2...1...

TalkingtoLangClegintheDark · 19/07/2021 16:17

That is absolutely bloody marvellous!

Well done those women. Hooray!

NCwhatsmynameagain · 19/07/2021 16:20

@PandorasMailbox

I know several people who've binned their Guardian subs to join the Times.
I’ve done this gladly
herewegogc · 19/07/2021 16:24

Yes I ditched the Guardian some time ago. I subscribe to the Times because their coverage has f self ID has been excellent. Also the Spectator. So disappointed in the left - can't vote Labour anymore.

BoogieFeet · 19/07/2021 16:25

Another one who moved from the Independent and Guardian over to the Times online.. Better journalism, great comments from others - as well as actually being able to comment, unlike previously where very one sided pieces would be printed and then comments turned off.

Sorry. Got so excited I forgot to put that bit. Either way, at least they've printed it - paid for or not. Transactivists can't make them delete it.

If it helps to shine some sunlight, I'm all for it.

Of course it won't be long before they start arguing the toss over the word 'female'.

What we now need in tomorrow's paper is the dictionary definition for 'Man' - adult human male.

CardinalLolzy · 19/07/2021 17:15

Interesting to see what's allowed to be printed. Remember the "I heart JK Rowling" billboard at Edinburgh that was taken down because "too political"?

littleredberries · 19/07/2021 17:18

Wow

Rhannion · 19/07/2021 17:18

Oh that’s great, going to buy and subscribe! Well done to the women who paid for it and thank you

That’s a good idea, however what male group would pay for it?
CarpeVitam · 19/07/2021 17:21

Bravo The Times! Who'd have thought that stating a biological fact would be such cause for celebration! 🎉

EverythingDelegated · 19/07/2021 17:22

Yes, I used to subscribe to the Guardian online and buy the I at the weekend. Cancelled both and now subscribe to The TImes instead.

Thelikelylass · 19/07/2021 17:24

How strange that we have to have an advertisement to sell a fact instead of the normal fantasy peddled by marketing in the past! Well done The Times.

MiladyBerserko · 19/07/2021 17:31

Also have a Times subscription, having been a Guardian reader since university. I refuse to even click it now.

HereticFanjo · 19/07/2021 17:43

The Guardian are heavily courting the US market and their nonsense probably plays well there with the college classes. Meanwhile we are no longer subscribers.

MouseontheLouse · 19/07/2021 18:19

Oh it's great. I was just a bit confused.

Sophoclesthefox · 19/07/2021 18:52

Yep, another loyal guardian reader of 25+ years here who scrapped it a couple of years back for a Times sub. I want journalism, not wall to wall op ed slanted to the international market, swivel eyed self flagellation and stonking hypocrisy. I skimmed the graun a couple of times a week, but after the dreadful bullying out of Suzanne Moore apparently went unaddressed by senior management, I cut down on even that. I get my balance from the bbc, and from other, international papers.

What’s that awful noise I can hear, by the way? Is it…gnashing of teeth? Grin and why haven’t we had an accusation that this was paid for by the Heritage Foundation yet? Standards are really slipping.

PandorasMailbox · 19/07/2021 19:04

Maybe they're all still on their fainting couches being fanned by Owen Jones @Sophoclesthefox Grin
