YABU: woman

YANBU: man

I can’t even begin to express myself.

@Holly60 it is a man with a penis. For a child that is all they will know . The child's feelings matter and should come first.

@AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken

They’re terrified of all this, aren’t they at MNHQ?

God forbid we use incorrect pronouns on a non-sex and gender thread. After all, it’s only discussing child abuse 😳

Probably in case the Twitter brigade starts up. How dare women protect themselves and children? How dare women try and protect women's sports? How dare women try to feel safe in female only spaces and not allow men to encroach on this?

So what happens now if a woman reports an attack by a man, who later reveals he is actually a transwoman, but preference is to be called a woman?

As well as possibly hindering a police investigation and a prosecution, can the victim be accused of a hate crime?

See a previous post. This has already happened and police resources were wasted telling the public to look out for a woman.
Feelingoktoday · 14/07/2021 09:13

Perhaps this should be posted again in AIBu?

MotionActivatedDog · 14/07/2021 09:16

This is a person who decided to have a male haircut within days of this picture being taken.

Confused there’s no such thing as a male haircut!

As that's where it was originally, a duplicate would almost certainly be deleted. Confused
borntobequiet · 14/07/2021 09:19

I think that so long as the thread is seen in Active conversations, and people take the trouble to read through and notice it’s been moved, it might make them think.

DumplingsAndStew · 14/07/2021 09:19

@Feelingoktoday

Yes, I read the article posted by Snoopy, but my question is regarding any possible further repercussions for the victim for "misgendering" him.

tootiredtobother · 14/07/2021 09:19

male the strong brow ridge gives him away
yikes bloody Canada loved it when I visited years ago, even thought of moving there,, not now

MondayYogurt · 14/07/2021 09:21

Poor child. I hope he can recover from this attack. And I hope his attacker isn't housed with vulnerable women.

Stranger danger is real. There was this story this week (not to derail but it's important people know this still happens) https://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/national/video-louisville-police-track-down-girl-kidnapped-while-riding-bike-arrest-suspect

invisiblesuit · 14/07/2021 09:22

It's very hard to believe that this person "identifies" as a woman. They're having a laugh, surely. Or readying themselves for their imprisonment - making sure that they'll be imprisoned with women. People like this are very deliberately making a mockery of the Canadian justice system, imho. How can Canadians have any respect for their public institutions any more?

ErrolTheDragon · 14/07/2021 09:22

Just one more general point, OP, if MNHQ discuss it at all with you - as this thread is a poll it's completely inappropriate to have it on a specialist board. A biased sample isn't merely useless, it's worse than useless. Enabling voting on all boards would be silly - can you imagine the different votes for a question about dogs in the doghouse vs AIBU for instance?

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 14/07/2021 09:23

Do they see what I see?

What we all see?

There is no point saying what they are.

WE ALL FUCKING KNOW.

MotionActivatedDog · 14/07/2021 09:27

Unfortunately we can't reinstate the voting buttons.

They can if they move the thread back to AIBU.

highame · 14/07/2021 09:27

Every time I see something like this I have to avoid because it makes me feel physically sick. Surely the majority of Canadians feel that way too and question the motives of some MtF transitioners. I hope this is being noted by the MoJ when considering how to deal with trans sex offenders

Jesus Christ

I’ve just sobbed for ten minutes over this video. Thank god she was rescued

Sophoclesthefox · 14/07/2021 09:29

If you think this is only Canada, think again.

Here’s a magnificent piece of gaslighting from ITN

www.itv.com/news/calendar/update/2016-04-14/fresh-appeal-to-trace-missing-leeds-woman/

It is pitched as an appeal to find a “missing woman” who has been “known to use a male identity”.

Hauxwell was, in fact, a violent serial rapist, which under English law of course, requires the possession of a penis. Hauxwell had gone on the lam rather than face conviction again, and understandably the police were keen to catch up with Hauxwell.

www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/convicted-rapist-who-featured-crimewatchs-9988932

So in their bid to “be kind” and avoid misgendering a violent rapist, police and the media colluded to portray this story as that of a missing woman, who may have been disguising herself as a man, thereby endangering the public who were completely misled about who was missing and why the police were interested.

There was also that phone recording wasn't there ? Of a police officer discussing the case with a victim. The woman had an.abusive ex who had since ID'd as a woman. And they were referring to them.as such no matter what the woman said.

DialSquare · 14/07/2021 09:34

YANBU

What sort of person, rather than be horrified and want to raise awareness of these issues, would report this post to be hidden away?

ErrolTheDragon · 14/07/2021 09:38

Ah... I'd missed the response to the OP.
Well, I guess we'd better take the time to report and request it's moved back again.
My reasons are:
It's constructed clearly as a poll, not a 'debate'
Responses to the OPs question on a 'special interest' board which some people have hidden are invalid - biased samples are worse than useless.

Finally - if MNHQ moves a properly configured voting thread from AIBU, please could they as a matter of routine say why, and provide the voting stats at the point it was moved and thereby disabled?

Abhannmor · 14/07/2021 09:43

A man . The end.

Gumbomambo · 14/07/2021 09:43

Where are all our TRA friends? The ones who have riddled every other thread with their TWAW and gender not sex? …. Nothing? Not a peep.

Mishy will be along to explain everything.
quiteathome · 14/07/2021 09:47

Once a serious sexual or violent crime has been committed the perpetrator should lost any right to the 'identified gender'. They should only be treated as their born sex.
