I can’t even begin to express myself.

@Abhannmor

Haha oh yes! Where is Mishy and their worn out copy and paste?

FreeBritnee · 14/07/2021 09:49

Lack of Adams apple.makes it ambiguous. My gut instinct is man but it could be a trans man who has taken hormones 😬

Whatwouldscullydo · 14/07/2021 09:51

It would be recorded as a man then surely?

How you identify is fluid, so who knows!!!

LittleCatDog · 14/07/2021 09:54

@Dozer

So some publications are not using the word ‘woman’ in articles about birth and women's health, and instead refer to ‘people’ or parts of anatomy, but are use ‘woman’ to describe a biologically male perpetrator of sex crime!
Yes very good point! Angry
Keepemguessing · 14/07/2021 10:00

MAN

Well, maybe, but don’t you think that the state, the police and the press have an obligation to be truthful? They’re not there to endorse people identities, they’re there to serve, to protect and to report the truth.

@ErrolTheDragon

Ah... I'd missed the response to the OP. Well, I guess we'd better take the time to report and request it's moved back again. My reasons are: It's constructed clearly as a poll, not a 'debate' Responses to the OPs question on a 'special interest' board which some people have hidden are invalid - biased samples are worse than useless.

Finally - if MNHQ moves a properly configured voting thread from AIBU, please could they as a matter of routine say why, and provide the voting stats at the point it was moved and thereby disabled?

I reported it and posted the reply above. I shouldn’t have been so hasty with my second post, but didn’t want it deleted for posting in the wrong place. My tone of voice was supposed to be 'move the thread. Whatever.' IYSWIM, but it doesn’t come across like that.

I wonder how many people actually did report it. That would also be interesting to know when moving threads. I wonder what would happen if people reported to move it back.

I'm due to start at work, so won’t have much chance to come back to the thread for a while.

I wonder if anyone who did report it, would like to come and explain the reasons why they did.

Thank you Dozer for pointing this out.
And unforgivable that a 6 year old child is being gaslighted by being forced to accept a lie.

DialSquare · 14/07/2021 10:13

Seeing as the article doesn't mention Trans anywhere, it would appear that the Reporters of this thread CAN actually tell the difference between men and women.

Collaborate · 14/07/2021 10:14

I am often saddened by the anti-trans posts on this site. I have had two clients (I am a family law solicitor) who are trans - one of each - and both have been very genuine and lovely people. There is too often on this site an attitude that labels all trans people as sex offenders.

What has happened in the case of Ruby Eby doesn't help. It is wrong. Eby seems to be a man. He has stubble, the facial structure of a man, and presumably a functioning penis. He is making no effort to look like a woman. Some women can also look manly, but they have a vagina, so looking like a woman is not the be all and end all of being accepted as a woman. Neither is, I think, having a natural vagina.

My trans female to male client had a vagina. He also had a beard, a deep voice, and no breasts. He was genuine.

The problem is with people who try and manipulate the system. There ought to be a better way.

Thelnebriati · 14/07/2021 10:14

The victim will be abused twice, the second time by their own government.

drspouse · 14/07/2021 10:16

@BSJohnson

I’ve just used the ‘report error’ button to point out the error they seem to have made imho.
Great idea, me too.
Looneytune253 · 14/07/2021 10:18

What if the reporter is very GC and it's a woman living as a man? Lol. You would have what you want and you wouldn't even know it. Devils advocate

There is.

Record the sex. Its sexed bodies doing the physical.assulting after all

I understand the frustration.

Most people here wouldn't deny that genuine transgender people exist.

It is simply that you cannot differentiate between the genuine and the opportunists.

Third safe spaces, which do not put either vulnerable group at risk would be the ideal solution.

Iggi999 · 14/07/2021 10:20

It is statistically SO unlikely to be a woman who carried out this crime that the balance of probability is always going to be that it's a man.
Whoever just wrote "lol" on a thread about an assaulted 6 year old child can shove it up their ass.

EsmaCannonball · 14/07/2021 10:22

This is where pronoun politeness gets us. When I saw that picture I thought (again) that organisations are absolutely terrified of being accused of transphobia but completely unconcerned about being accused of sexism. Sexism is so endemic it's just background noise. Demonizing a group on the bottom of a hierarchy (women) as criminals is a classic tactic of oppression. I'm beginning to think it's going to take women rioting or becoming terrorists to get them to take us seriously, but then again we end up court for suffragette ribbons, so perhaps not.

Sophoclesthefox · 14/07/2021 10:23

No, there really isn’t. The entire point is people like Ruby here. The entire point is that there are dangerous, violent men hiding behind a trans identity. The entire point is that an ideology that says that “being a woman” can be a feeling in a man’s head was a being used/abused to dilute protections that women and children have to keep the Rubys of this world out of places where we’re vulnerable.

I’m sure your clients were lovely, but Ruby obviously isn’t. It makes me sad that this abused child is being gaslit like this.

YeahItsMeAgain · 14/07/2021 10:24

This is all getting too much. Honestly. My days are dragged down by this - I’m genuinely feeling totally hopeless. What are other people’s coping mechanisms for all this? I’ve tried ignoring it all but it’s so wrong - I can’t. I feel so backed into a corner. And powerless. And... words fail me now.

Sorry but I haven’t even got the energy to be angry about it anymore. I’ve got an appointment with my GP. Hoping they can give me something to help me walk through my life being content to keep my mouth shut about all this.

Maybe I shouldn’t have posted here though. Probably belongs on the Mental Health board? Apologies if I’ve offended anyone.

Thelnebriati · 14/07/2021 10:30

YeahItsMeAgain Depression is a normal response to abuse when you are in a position of helplessness.
Focus on your self care right now, and take a step back. Flowers

This

A lot of posters aren’t concerned with transwomen and their everyday lives

This may change for some posters when sports, awards and refuges come up or reporting of crimes

And it definitely changes for me with self ID and men like the above
