Reading this thread has been a great start to the day.

GromblesofGrimbledon · 06/07/2021 07:11

@WhoNeedsaManOfTheWorld

I see the tweet has gone now The ratio and comments are a great loss Grin

Aw I missed the fun...

Anyone manage to archive it?

Sophoclesthefox · 06/07/2021 07:25

@ScreamingMeMe

I'm dying that this guy is called Nigel Grin
Me too Grin no idea what covid had to do with any of it, are XR anti vaxx too or something?

Any thoughts on why such a science based organisation would deny science on human sexual dimorphism, Nige?

ISaySteadyOn · 06/07/2021 08:02

I think our Nigel is under the impression that us women can only think of one issue at a time, so we can't possibly be concerned about climate change whilst thinking about sex based rights.

ScreamingMeMe · 06/07/2021 09:12

And/or possibly that women's issues should get to the back of the queue.

NewlyGranny · 06/07/2021 09:12

An interesting take on the topic from Nigel, who leapt in to mansplain climate change to us poor little boofheads when that wasn't what we were talking about at all.

Mixing genderwoo with climate science is a bad look for XR and they were wise to take the tweet and replies down, though it's good that they were archived.

Nigel needs to a) read a thread to understand what it's actually about and b) understand that gender critical people (those who understand biology and believe that sex is an actual thing) can simultaneously grasp the elements of climate science and believe that's actually a thing, too. In fact holding both beliefs is a perfectly logical stance for a scientifically literate person.

Believing in climate science while also waffling about sexy trees and non-dimorphic species echoing human diversity? Less so. A lot less so.

As one PP said, show us a person who was grown from a cutting and didn't need both a female ovum and a male sperm to bring them into existence.

Nature is indeed wonderful and also sorely in need of protection from the exploitation of the greedy and the stupid.

MingeofDeath · 06/07/2021 09:57

@ Nigel

Many moons ago I studied Environmental Science at uni, graduated in 1997. I remember one of my lecturers saying back, then that even if all the nations worked together to stop carbon output climate change would still happen. The climate is fucked, change is already happening, there is nothing we can do to stop it. The best we can do is to mitigate it, again requiring a concerted international effort which will never happen.
Go away and patronise someone else.

HecatesCatsInFancyHats · 06/07/2021 10:05

It was inevitable- just look at the Green Party. Clownfish are a gateway drug.

@Nigel1290

Need more sleep Thanks for the reply I have been on multiple protests. If there was rubbish it did not come from XR as a group we constantly tidy, reminded to respect our space🦠 When we have camped in London boroughs the organisation has been praised for the tidiness and behaviour of members . If ever you think the organisations had not kept to standards find a Stewart and make them aware members will tidy
Are men called Stewart always so helpful? Good to know.
Needmoresleep · 06/07/2021 10:55

Love it.

I would not have posted, but I got sufficiently cross whilst walking home during the protests to actually approach one of the leading demonstrators to question the sea of plastic tat. (The response was "Err, you have a point.") My mistake, presumably, was not to check whether he was called Stewart.

Sophoclesthefox · 06/07/2021 11:18

Maybe he meant The Stewarts? James VI/I was pretty keen on witch burning, so I see the parallels.

Masdintle · 06/07/2021 11:24

The mess left behind by XR in the park in Berlin a couple of years ago was frightening. Abandoned tents, mats, sleeping bags, not just food litter and other crap. It was horrible. Rent-a-mob.

FloralBunting · 06/07/2021 11:25

Came from Scotland, too, which as we know is quite keen on genderism and going after women who litter the highways and byways with suffragette ribbons.

Tibtom · 06/07/2021 15:40

@Nigel1290

I read people’s comments regarding XR. The impression I get is that people here have not spent proper time with XR members! They seem to me to be educated regarding climate and loss of bio-diversity. The threat to our food supply, landmass, existence of flora and fauna is scary. Yet many seem to close their minds to the scientific evidence. This is not XR talking but just the science and proof. Maybe you have not seen reports of I e caps melting at rates never seen before, or high temperatures in Canada for Instance. If Covid has worried you - then take time to read the science journals. XR if nothing else is increasing people’s awareness of the destabilising of our beautiful planet
Not so educated if they have only just twigged about sexual reproduction in plants. Something rather critical for food supply and to the existance of fauna and flora.

As for scientific evidence - we are quite hot on that on this board. Hence the fact we don't fall for genderideology pseudoscience and instead look for the evidence base.

Hahahahahahahaha.

That's my professional laugh of having to deal with the XR lot.

Utter fucking planks.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/07/2021 15:22

I want to find a tidy Stewart.

SirSamuelVimes · 07/07/2021 15:24

My house is a right tip at the mo. Are tidy Stewarts available to hire? What's their hourly rate? And will they spend the whole time whinging at me for not being vegan?

TidyStewart · 07/07/2021 15:46

I'd just like to say, the to-do list is quite sizeable at the moment, so if you could pick up your own litter for the foreseeable, that would be a big help.

I'm doing my best, but getting bourgeois environmentalist protesters to pick up their shit is a bit of a lost cause when most of them are just glued to Twitter having arguments about what pronouns a Norway Spruce uses.

SirSamuelVimes · 07/07/2021 15:49

It's hard to take XR seriously when they tweet this sort of rubbish (thank you ISaySteadyOn for the link, it had already been deleted when I went looking).

And I can't be the only one who thought, at several of their demonstrations, that they were really, really missing festival season and trying to simulate Glasto etc. (video appended).
