@Peppallama

ER have done nothing but set the cause of climate change back. They've frequently blocked off the city I live in to gridlock to make people 'aware' of climate change - not sure I know anyone who isn't aware but anyway....ask them to do something sensible like lobby for a decent cycle path and suddenly they don't want to know - not contraversial enough I suspect.
Yeah. I really liked the idea of protesting for the environment at one point, but XR haven't got a concept of what a green society would look like - if it's not ten hippies in a teepee living off nettles, that is. So once they'd flagged up the climate change issue, they'd nowhere to go with it, which is why they've gone into a morass of competitive virtue-signalling and pseudo-theology.

@ErrolTheDragon

Humans may not be trees, but whoever at XR perpetrated that tweet was a plank.
😀 heh heh heh

@Whatabouttery

Extinction rebellion are a bunch of privileged tossers verging on terrorists.

No idea why anyone gives them any airtime.

Yuppity yup.

Mother Nature called; she said if you ever use the qslur again she is going to FUCK U UP BOI.

Her words not mine, obs.

highame · 05/07/2021 08:24

I am so glad that XR have joined the Sex vs Gender debate. It will do our cause so much good.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 05/07/2021 08:56

Aw, the tweet has gone! I went back to reread the comments and have another snigger, but it turns out that XR don't like being laughed it.

Apparently reality is a big fat meanie.

@ErrolTheDragon

DD had an encounter with them when they were holding some sort of protest in her uni town. They were obstructing her and her fellow students from getting into their department for a lecture; not sure it was deliberate or they'd just chosen an inconsiderate location. What made it mildly amusing is that the lecture was on sustainable engineering. Slow handclap...
They once held up a government meeting on tackling climate change which my husband was attending as an expert. He travelled there by bike and train...
PurpleHoodie · 05/07/2021 09:39

Disruptive Hoorays.

highame · 05/07/2021 09:50

Oh PurpleHoodie thanks for posting that. One of my favourites and here's the other one. Hope I've linked correctly

I’m disappointed this is deleted so I can’t read them!

Needmoresleep · 05/07/2021 10:23

They left an awful lot of plastic tat behind after their big demonstration in London. Cheap, Made in China banners etc. I am not convinced they understand the steps that are needed to actually halt climate change, and suspect that many are spoilt kids acting out, with a fair number of misogynists amongst them.

HecatesCatsInFancyHats · 05/07/2021 10:28

Someone better warn famous tree whisperer Prince Charles to use the correct pronouns next time he's out talking to an oak. Wouldn't want to see the Royals embroiled in a transtreephobia row on top of everything else.

There's nowt so queer as foliage

Nigel1290 · 05/07/2021 20:51

I read people’s comments regarding XR.
The impression I get is that people here have not spent proper time with XR members!
They seem to me to be educated regarding climate and loss of bio-diversity.
The threat to our food supply, landmass, existence of flora and fauna is scary. Yet many seem to close their minds to the scientific evidence. This is not XR talking but just the science and proof.
Maybe you have not seen reports of I e caps melting at rates never seen before, or high temperatures in Canada for Instance.
If Covid has worried you - then take time to read the science journals.
XR if nothing else is increasing people’s awareness of the destabilising of our beautiful planet

Nigel1290 · 05/07/2021 20:55

In all demonstrations I have seen
Not once has XR left rubbish behind.
In contrast I know XR make a point of clearing rubbish.
Talking to cafes etc and cleaning their toilets frequently as a thank you for their offering toilets to members

dyslek · 05/07/2021 20:58

My sister and best friend are in XR, so I think I can say I do know a bit about them.
Science denial is a bad look for a climate change action group, care to address that?

MidsomerMurmurs · 05/07/2021 21:00

Thanks for popping along to explain that @Nigel1290

I think most people’s problem with XR protestors is that the protestors seem quite attached to many of the trappings of modern society such as smart phones (replete with lithium batteries and various toxic components) and single use plastic products, while they set about preventing people from using public transport among other things. Just seems like they haven’t really thought things through in a meaningful way. Which probably explains their new interest in gender ideology…

Nigel1290 · 05/07/2021 21:00

The science is beyond contention
You believed the science for Covid why not re the planet, climate and eco systems

dyslek · 05/07/2021 21:00

People are already aware well before XR came on the scene. XR ailinates people.
Also women on here know a lot about science. Maybe you could spend your energy on educating those that need a little science education.

dyslek · 05/07/2021 21:02

WE DO YOU MORON. WHY DONT YOU ACTUALLTY READ STUFF BEFORE YOU MANSPLAIN.
THIS IS WHAT AILINATES PEOPLE FROM XR.
