Some have been archived -

  • Break it down for me
  • It never happens resource thread

Any others you would nominate for saving for posterity?

Sorry this doesn't answer your question but made me think of one myself - what is going to happen to all the existing threads on this board when Mumsnet boots us off into the gulag?
Can some of the threads come with us?

I would hope that Tinsels threads are not lost.

Ninkanink · 17/06/2021 11:06

They’re not getting rid of the archive are they??

If so that’s utterly shit of MNHQ.

NecessaryScene · 17/06/2021 11:08

The assumption is that they will remain where they are under the current URLs, but not clear if they will be part of the history of "Feminism chat", "Sex and Gender" or neither.

I imagine you wouldn't want old trans threads being bumped within a now-non-trans "Feminism chat", but putting everything from this board into in "Sex and Gender" would be weird too.

Archives are probably a good idea in case something goes wrong. But hopefully nothing does...

NecessaryScene · 17/06/2021 11:09

(MN have said they won't be deleted, it's just what it will look like isn't clear)

EndoplasmicReticulum · 17/06/2021 11:10

I read they won't be deleted - but can you add to them if they are in the "wrong" place?

ArabellaScott · 17/06/2021 11:13

Hoping nothing will be lost, but it's actually a good chance to get round to archiving useful threads, anyway!

I can't work out how things will look once The Great Splitting has been imposed. Is someone going to sift through every thread to work out where to put it?

Oh ok. I thought the world had gone —even more— mad for a minute there!

Ninkanink · 17/06/2021 11:17

Nah they’ll surely leave it as its own section.

Tanith · 17/06/2021 12:52

There’s this one, of course:

Masdintle · 17/06/2021 12:58

Blimey just read that thread Tanith. Three and a half years and so much has actually happened. Frightening

OvaHere · 17/06/2021 12:58

I searched the other day for the long running 'Resource thread for TRA screenshots' which was a thread where we documented violent threats made to women on social media. I wanted to add the 'machete' tweet from yesterday aimed at CNA and JK.

I discovered it was deleted, I assume fairly recently. The deletion message says the thread wasn't a "good use of the site".

Ninkanink · 17/06/2021 13:01

Wow really @OvaHere? That’s shocking.

Disgusting really.

ArabellaScott · 17/06/2021 13:08

Thanks, Tanith.

That's a damn shame, Ova. I'd have thought that was a pretty useful and relevant thread for a feminist board. Documentation of threats towrds women. Another good reason to archive useful threads.

This one made me feel less alone:

ArabellaScott · 17/06/2021 13:18

Added to the list, White, thanks!

OP posts:
YellowFish12 · 17/06/2021 13:21

Shit did anyone have a copy of the screenshots thread??

YellowFish12 · 17/06/2021 13:22

It seems MN are so far down the rabbit hole which is really upsetting considering this site came about primarily for woman at a time of their life when they were experiencing something very women-centric (giving birth)

Lowhum · 17/06/2021 13:47

The Ocado thread. Not useful, but it filled up so quickly!

PurpleHoodie · 17/06/2021 13:55

I've just started a new one about the "Leeds Managed Zone" being dismantled.

I think that's my recent favourite one Smile

This one was entertaining!

OvaHere · 17/06/2021 14:12

To be honest I'm not sure it's a great idea linking favourite threads for all to see. Maybe better to quietly archive them.

Not meant as a criticism OP.

Floisme · 17/06/2021 14:13

I remember a long and really interesting thread shortly after the 2019 general election, partly about how Labour had lost the plot but also how all the mainstream parties were letting women down. Voices from different political persuasions - pretty sure LangCleg was on it, and also BovaryX whom I haven't seen in ages. Women seeing past their party allegiances to discuss a shared cause. Lord knows where it would sit under the new regime. I'll see if I can find it although I might not be able to look today,

ArabellaScott · 17/06/2021 14:27

Ova, sorry, yes, you're right. My memory is so poor, I was struggling to think of any specific ones.

But maybe best just having a look through myself.

Thanks, Flo, sounds good.
