Fantastic judgement and amazing statement from Maya.

mollythemeerkat · 10/06/2021 12:22

Wow. Maya you are a brave and inspirational woman. Thank you for all the work you have put into this.

Mollyollydolly · 10/06/2021 12:22

Second man at bus stop is basically telling all the gullible children that follow him that it's no big deal and it confirms you can't go around being horrible to trans people at work. Ie: completely ignoring what the case was about as Maya did none of those things. I worry about all the young ons who listen to him, it's all so manipulative.

Terranean · 10/06/2021 12:22

Congratulations Maya! Well done all the women backing her up and the men who show their head over the parapet! 💐💐💐

Seriouslymole · 10/06/2021 12:23

I am in awe and have signed up to Sex Matters. Thank you so much Maya, you are a brave and inspirational woman. We owe you a huge debt of gratitude.

I think the BBC coverage is muted and unbalanced though - www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-57426579

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 10/06/2021 12:24

It’s excellent news. Hopefully just the start!

I agree, but am not unduly surprised.

The bit about
She believes trans women holding certificates that recognise their transgender identity cannot describe themselves as women.?

I thought it was very simplistic and missed out whole chunks of what she believes.

David has a different take on it of course.

I find this fascinating. Can the TRAs not see the irony of this kind of comment?

Tbh its outcome i expected, tldr seems to be a person can have gc beliefs, but they cant just hide behind it as a shield (similar how "religious" people can be against ssm...but they cant go harass gay people at work for ecample)

The accusation that GC women are going to hide behind their protected GC views to harass is EXACTLY what many of the trans activists do! It honestly hurts my head that they can’t see this. They are massively abusive online to all those they see as transphobic whilst hiding behind the shield of ‘trans’ being a protected characteristic.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 10/06/2021 12:31

Yay!!!! joining the celebration with Wine for Maya and her team. Big congratulations, and thanks for your courage and perseverance through the difficult times. You are doing so much for women and girls. Dare we hope this is part of a movement back towards sanity?

alreadytaken · 10/06/2021 12:38

David points out that she got a new tribunal but that the judge also said trans people are still protected from discrimination in law. Responses suggest she will lose again as she said she would misgender people in some situations.

Womansisterdaughtermother · 10/06/2021 12:40

Chuffed with this news!! What a woman 💕💕💕💕 I'm so grateful

TonTonMacoute · 10/06/2021 12:40

Fantastic news. Even more important is that this decision does now set a legal precedent apparently, so it can be used in future legal cases.

Well done Maya, the stress of going through this ordeal must have been immense.

justanotherneighinparadise · 10/06/2021 12:41

I thought David was still in hiding in fear of his life?

BoringBettie · 10/06/2021 12:41

Congrats Maya - and thank you Flowers

BewaretheIckabog · 10/06/2021 12:42

If someone had told me 5 years ago an Employment Tribunal would be debating whether it is reasonable to believe people cannot change sex I would have laughed.

This is so important. Well done Maya. I’m sorry about the shit you have had to put up with to get here but thank you.

Not an overly emotional person but I shed a couple of tears before doing a happy dance.

alreadytaken · 10/06/2021 12:42

Strange, isnt it, that harassing and abusing a gender critical woman for thinking differently is apparently fine, but misgendering may still get you fired.

ChattyLion · 10/06/2021 12:43

Maya this is so brilliant. YES. GC both named as a belief and recognised as ‘..worthy of respect in a democratic society.’ Thank you. Flowers
